Ain't no party like a DKB party

Ain't no party like a DKB party

Greetings Everyone,

Plan is simple but hard to achieve 10k€ in the bank+bankroll and ~+2k$ income/monthly from poker.

After unexpected success in my first blog, where I succeed in making 1k$ profit in a month playing 25nl.
Wanted to continue keep myself accountable and have a good place for reflection.

In this blog I will be posting:
-Weekly updates (Result Graph,Sessions,RB,Interesting HH)
-Weekly goals and plans (upfront)
-Monthly updates
-Monthly goals and plans (upfront)

About me, I'm 26 year old male from Latvian and currently working full-time job(15days a month, 12h shifts). For now I'm playing 25nl PartyPoker Regular/Zoom tables and have a rakeback ~25%. In future might look into other options but for now I'm satisfied with 25nl pool of PartyPoker. Will be using aggressive bankroll management 20bi up with 2bi shots.

P.S. Will not end this blog until I achieve my goal, for how ever long it takes.

Thanks for reading.
Any feedback about how I played or thinks I could do better is much appreciated.

Nice results mate! Your worst nightmares about going pro are not realized, so that's a plus 😀

What site(s) are you playing on btw?

Thanks!

I play on site that used to be the biggest at one time, but its always a good place to have a Party. For now only play there, can legally also play on GGpoker/Ipoker (have accounts). CoinPoker is 4th option (grey area).

hmm I almost overlooked them. That was the first site I ever played on around 20 years ago lol.. I'm guessin gthe games are decent enough? On pokerstars I'm limiting most my volume to evenings now cos such little traffic/fun players at this stake but that's less than ideal for me I'm always sleepy after dinner 😃

Well I'm kinda doing the same, the games get more active around 5pm(GMT +2). But I think at 5nl/10nl games should be good all day. 25nl is diffrent story.

Week 29 Recap

Greetings,
Good Results which I'm very happy about, ran good played solid. Also played one orbit of 200nl #200nlReg.
Monday grinded online, was not to stocked about playing online as it was my 4th day in a row but last session of the day turned out very profitable so I can't complain.
Tuesday had free day which I decided to finish playing live mtt, in future will only play turbos or hyper mtt live when next day is suppose to be online grind.
Wednesday was ruined by terrible sleep from losing live mtt at 2am and for that reason took the day off.
Thursday online grind, solid slow grind.
Friday free day, did play one session as I felt good and had free time (w/ warm up session ofc)
Saturday/Sunday nice action packed weekend to close profitable week.

For the following week will make little adjustments regarding better sleep. Monday free, Tue/Wen/Sat/Sun online grind and Thursday/Friday will be semi-grind/semi-free days as I want to try to play live 1/3€ on Thursday and maybe play one online session at Friday evening.

Week 30 Recap

Greetings,
Good week and feels surreal to keep going in this trajectory. Ran good in many spots and imo for the 95% of time played well.

Monday had a free day(Study/Gym/Chill).
Tuesday had a bad start to the day after terrible sleep duo to cat walking me up 4 times in a night and having alarm clock. After that went to the park with GF and had much better performance mindset at evening session.
Wednesday studied in the morning and when to gym. Had a plan to play longer hour to be more ready for live cash next day.
Thursday play one nice profitable session. Arrived at casino to play live cash 1/3€ with back up plan to play 80€ turbo if cash game would not run. Unfortunately for me (and dumb because I knew of that festival) neighboring country was hosting Kings of Vilnius. So there was no cash running but had this tiny 30 people max mtt running in which I punted/put 3 bullets in (last being max late reg having 14bb lol).
Friday started late, nice first session but terrible 2nd session as I decide to stream for some friends which resulted in me disconnecting 2 times and not being able to perform to my best.
Saturday solid online grind and solid gym session.
Sunday wanted to go for set RB goal, but after seeing only 4 tables running in the morning (100nl & 50nl) and similar situation at evening only went for next tier and missed 100$ Rake paid to get 30% RB from 25% RB.

For this following week adjustment will be no alarm clock and not to think/go to casino, work on my sleep. Mon/Thu free, Tue/Wen/Fri/Sat/Sun grind days. Will try harder to reach my volume goals this week.

Week 31 Recap

Greetings,
"surreal to keep going in this trajectory" lol, played very bad first half of the week. Made some expensive mistakes mid week and my decisions became increasingly bad duo to losing confidence in my game. So much so that I start subconsciously sabotage my decisions in big spots, I guess I'm calling all of them hoping to regain my confidence and also going for every bluff spot equally as often. For future low confidence moments plan is to, take a day free and then regain confidence by playing a bit lower or less tables or table select more... At the same time get used to losing more (Had won every single day in November until this week so was flying a bit too high).

Monday had a free day(Study/Gym/Chill).

Tuesday small loss overall fine day.

Wednesday weird day don't feel like I played too bad just didn't win any pots and lost few large/medium ones to be down -400$.

Thursday day off started playing new game that I enjoyed and just chilled all day in bed.

Friday was bad and felt terrible with decision like in HH2 and many other confidence was at all time low. Feel like emotions from first two losing days carried over and I went into a mentality of feeling incapable of winning, so I forced action in bad way. Did re-think all my emotions and low confidence that night and came to some conclusions, maybe if I did that on Thursday instead of ignoring it and would be much better week overall.

Saturday still not at my best and confidence in my game not ideal, booked a small loss after few expensive mistake, but was much more aware of my emotions/confidence... So overall positive day given Fridays terrible grind.

Sunday Proud of this day as played solid and even later on decide to reach my weekly RB goal (something that I have missed every other week in November). Ended the day +3$ lol, but was 400$ under EV so I take this as a win and confidence boost.

For this following week adjustment will 1.get back to more structured approach. 2.Not to hold bad/good emotions after sessions (write them down, re-think them). 3. Re-view last day session + HH as objectively as I can. 4. Be more ok with losing.

Mon/Thu free, Tue/Wen/Fri/Sat/Sun grind days. Will try harder to good solid poker (less hero calls/less crazy bluffs)this week.

Interesting hands and especially that Biggest Bluff:
HH6: Vs Reg.

I think it's a well played Preflop, Flop, Turn but the river makes this situation a bit more complicated. I think the river is one of the worst cards for your table image. If the river had been anything other than an A or a card that pairs the board, the river jamm would have been 100% the right solution. When I look at your hands, it seems that you are a creative and aggressive player, so called capable player. With your table image, it is difficult to get reg Villain to fold a big pair on the river if the board pairs. I have noticed that many regs look for bluff catches if the board pairs so you have to be more careful with them and some highboards when making big bluffs.

I don't play at the same level as you but I decided to give my microbrain answer anyway. I believe you will go far in poker.

HH3: I like smaller checkraise better. Xjam flop just looks like flushdraw so it makes it easy for BTN. Small raise is what value wants to do and is tougher line to play against, has basically same fold equity vs their air as jam, plus you still realise your equity

Xcall flop also nice with AQ since it keeps dominated broadways in. Then you can always checkjam turn and make more from the 2 barrel bluffs (esp nice if they overdo those). Maybe some overpairs hero fold there too since line looks stronger. XC-XC probs fine too and that also pays less to overpairs than xjam flop.

H3: 3b vs iso probs more linear like strong sb 3b range for bb, then cbet range is probs centered on Jx+ and broadway draws. did you jam because you know u just fold most turns to jam and wanna realise your equity? Q9 is just ok draw (dominated by KQ,AQ) and I think I'd probably just call and look to realise/bluff later, but one way for shove EV > call if they cbet then fold lot of AK/AQ

H5: Yeah looks fine. Theory likely has low betting freq overall on flop but small cbet nice since they probs overfold and attack less

by DeeKayBee k
Spoiler
Show

HH6: Like betting turn. I go bigger and bet AJ+ but 50 fine as long as people think you bet both Ax and Kx (not that you would bet Ax bigger)

Not super thrilled about bluffing this hand otr, but for it to be good you probably just need them to fold most of their Kx (when b50% ott plenty should get there but all pockets without gutshot fold imo). Psychologically idk if people will mostly fold Kx because your Ax combos got reduced plus bluffs are intuitive (missed gutshots), and they have already been sticky with their Kx to get there. Some will idk.

Theory wise I would rather bluff all the no sdv gutshots before 65. 65 can xx and you win/chop sometimes too vs missed combodraws, 54 or 33, so you need extra folds for bluff to be higher EV than x. 65 beats their snapfolds like 67 and broadway combodraws. But these are just reasons that keep me nitty

Last thing is I think Ax boards maybe underfolded by ip facing triple otr in 3bp (MDA), but that might just be A high flops (or a lie)

Really respect going for it though like person above said you are creative, they have good chunk of Ax/boats which makes it scary to bluff. I don't think it is big mistake anyway and only not ideal if all Kx fold turn

by DeeKayBee k
Spoiler
Show

HH7: Like it nh

Consider 4bet (like 27 or 28 bb) pre as well. They probs get the 14-15 ish % 3b right but do they find the mixed 5bet bluff jams {77-99, AQ, KJs}? You might over realise in that line

by DeeKayBee k
Spoiler
Show

HH8: yeah if fish SB then then CO 4b probably more linear/stronger range but I think call is still ok, and shoving AP looks good (folds KK mainly, Tx Qx if have those). People do 4bet a bit nitty tho

one things is flop call is a bit dicey. AK usually such big part of 4b range so you continue flop pretty tight, and without bdfd and being oop it's probs fold there imo

by DeeKayBee k

Spoiler
Show

H9: Any of BB's AQ probs strong enough to call flop, and I'd likely call off as well in game but pretty unhappy. Need to beat like 5 combos if they have all AQ AJs A5s AA. For that they might shove flushes, trapped 5x or need to bluff 99 or missed broadways

I'd probs keep betting turn as not too worried about blocking Tx since they probably fold that but will call Ax, 5x, and flushdraws's plus maybe pockets of their own that wouldn't bet

Respect the consistency as well, results will follow

Week 31:

hh1: sweet indeed and very surprising to see the SB (bad reg) to come along

hh2: OTT was also thinking about it but froze up in big spot and reverted to my passive calling station state. Rip monies.

hh3: This one I was at my more degen gamble happy state, but vs aggro opponent felt like I do have some fold EQ, and call then fold turn felt bad during hand.

hh4: nice but not nice

hh5: even though felt standard in game did question this river jam a little, but after some feedback fells back to standard

hh6: Yea another spot where I try to win everyhand in any way... Even though I like flop/turn River got the wrong understanding of the spot

hh7: I do love 4B bluffing vs OOP 3B (smaller though to like 24-25bb).

hh8: I think preflop and flop both are super marginal at best, this is me going back to me being degen wanting to win hands

hh9: Was unhappy with the river as well lol, close and meh spot.

Hey DKB unlucky this week but you're still doing well overall, and hands look good

Some random thoughts

Week 30

HH6 Bluff vs Reg hand:

I think the flop is quite ok for both ranges, but it's quite good to continue with a C bet because it also hit our hand well.
Villain on the other hand has to call almost the entire range to a small C bet but that's also ok. On the turn A which is a really good card to make a continuation bet, because Villain starts folding medium pairs 88,77,66,TT,99 and all the garbage that is included 86s79sj9sj etc. However, if Villain calls on the turn then his range is really strong which includes a lot of nut hands all Ax. If we bluff on the river then we target hands like Kx and big pairs like QQ,JJ,TT.

I was thinking that if we bet big on the flop 70% size with this hand. Villain would start folding some Ax hands and all the garbage already on the flop. I think this could be a potential check raise hand too.

Good Thoughts and explanations mate!

Week 32 Recap

Greetings,
This week I could summarize as great results and very poor life balance/structure. Started slow trying to continue rebuilding confidence from last week not so great result. During whole week it was common to go to sleep ~1am 2am which really upset my mornings, starting on Monday with playing day 2 of Mystery bounty that started at 11pm and continue w/gf having a lot of study/work. Weird week. Also played that zombie game decent amount which does not help with being structured, will play it only in rest days. In mtt got won 129,$ which is nice, guy that KO'ed me got 500$ mystery bounty

For this following week just want to get into good sleeping routine and be more structured. Also try live poker on Thursday (bad for sleep but I really want to explore live cash). Also want to try to go to gym every morning(Monday skipped) to get into routine of more productive day (small gym session with 2-3 exercises, more to wake up for the day)

HH3: Vs Aggro-S** Reg, have to reward bravery ofc. Funny that this guy takes cash-out every time his all-in. We both lose atleast. Guy like these and other fish Is reason why I don't post EV line.

Funny Hand:
HH6: Vs Reg, I think vs Reg idk. Guy is tagged as Reg maybe playing 100nl is to much for him or vs me he thinks he can Raise/call AK idk. Even any fd I have has +45% EQ

Week 33 Recap

Greetings,
Nice Results, very low volume. Life balance/structure improved decent amount from last week, putting phone in different room before sleep combined with going to gym after Breakfast has drastically improved time spent with gf/ going to sleep at better times/ sleep quality/ not wasting time in morning (not getting headache from wasting 2h in bad while at phone) /overall productivity of day. Tried some 200nl, tried some live 1/3€... In both lost.

Monday - Bad sleep, skipped gym, tried writing blog failed (came back at finished it 23:55), did not play, studied a some. Overall wasted day (besides studying) and didn't even feel rested.
Tuesday - Gym, study, session 1&2, played zombie game w/ friend, no phone at 22:00. Much more structured and productive.
Wednesday - Repeat of Tuesday which I was happy about.
Thursday - Was my day off + Playing live 1/3€ which I played really bad but game was pretty bad at least from what I have heard live cash game should be (Starting table 4 handed did not help as it was my first time playing 1/3€ live)
Friday - Woke up with headache and instead of going to gym decide to go to Expo Xmas market w/gf which was great idea and felt much better afterward. Studied a little and played two solid sessions.
Saturday - Sauna at gym, Zombie game w/friend, study, 2 very profitable sessions.
Sunday - Woke up feeling sick, kinda like repeat of Monday. Felt like a wasted day.

For this following week want to improve structure and evenings/morning phone use. No Live. 10k hands is my set goal.

Cash: +1297$
MTT: 0
Live Cash: -300€
RB: +75$
Total: +1072$

Biggest Win:
HH1: Vs Reg, He snaped OTR, which is a little interesting, because I was aware that my value range for this sizing is only 77,88,AA and all of those are maybe in my range. So it's kinda like leveling wars.

Biggest Loss/Biggest Blunder:
HH2: Vs Reg, OTT decided to go fro 1/3 instead of 1/2 because it leaves us with 1/2 pot bet OTR which at the moment felt like to strong. But biggest mistake was shoving on one of the worst possible card in the deck (started counting suited combos and there were not that many, but there is even less hands he can call imo)

Luckiest:
HH3: Vs Aggro Reg, BB was fish as well so that changes dynamics a little. Also is it failed bluff all-in if this is the outcome?
