Triton $500K entry semi invitational
Seems to be part of a trend. Half amateurs and half pros. Each amateur can invite one pro. The two group play separately the first day and then are merged. Probably any pro in it could sell action at a markup.
Haha Jared bleznik is a businessman. There’s a couple others on there that are kinda stretching that.
I hope Chamath goes with Hellmuth.
well, "the blez" is def. a smart SOB, to convince the Triton rules committee to let him in on the VIP side ...
but i guess he gets points for outgoing personality as well, def. more interesting to watch than let's say someone like Steven Chidwick (who's an amazing player, don't get me wrong)
No Gambledore, no party.
Lol half amateurs. Most of these 'amateurs' are pros or ex pros only because business is more lucrative than poker.
I wonder what Wai Kin Yong's business is
feldman pairing with dnegs is not going to do either much help in squashing rumors they are both in the closet
Who knew a poker live stream was so lucrative?
Only Fish is Santhosh
Dnegs first Triton event
This is cool, it's nice that Triton and GG are both streaming the event.
Lol @ Wai Kin Yong being allowed in as a businessman. At least Jared Bleznick has an actual business. Wai Kin is just the son of the owner, and plays like a boring reg in every game hes ever played - exactly the kind of player this kind of tournament is supposed to exclude. But he probably had to ask daddy really nicely if he could play.
People like Elton and Bleznick are definitely grey zone as "businessmen" but at least they have a personality unlike Wai Kin Yong who is your stereotype boring no personality reg.
Fake news. Nowhere on the Triton page does it say anything about "Businessmen". It just says "Invitee". Not sure why they went away with the 'VIP' term, but maybe it just became too synonymous with "whale" for some of them to feel respected.
imo the field size is too small. They could probably get quite a few more players, as some of the Invitees are people I've either never heard of, or didn't know play high stakes
regardless of the backing situation if there is one, it's awesome to see phil ivey still competing in the hardest tournament fields. he seems to be having a good year as well. wish talal was playing this!
They should just let everybody in and separate field on the first day as it is
Can't wait for this. Some fresh faces is nice. Never would have expected Shaun Deeb being in this, but I'm glad he is. Same with Daniel
a pool of pros selling 90 percent to each other sharing the value from rich whales who treat this as a $10 home tourney. i'm fired up!
Who is Elias Talvittie?
