UnitedHealth CEO Assassinated

UnitedHealth CEO Assassinated

The murder of UnitedHealthcare's CEO is a strange story. On the one hand, the killer obviously was taking steps to avoid getting caught. He was wearing a hoodie. He used a silencer. He clearly had an escape plan.

On the other hand, he was wearing a distinctive backpack. He may have left a food wrapper and a water bottle at the scene. And there was writing on each of the three shell casings (the words "deny," "defend," and "depose").

Do you mean these?

That looks like another guy though. Also not the same jacket, and a different mask.

might be a good time to ban mask use in public like normal countries do for security reasons.

going around masked is like driving a car with no plate.

Obviously you just didn’t see the paradox you are saying .
True capitalist , the way you see it is like the jungle law, there is no morality or for the greater good concept , it’s just who’s strong and kills everyone else with 0 regulations.

Hence u end up with a system like the current U.S. has .
It has nothing to do with democrats or anything else .
It’s about who got the cash and can Influence the most politicians , period .

But hey no one surprised you believed the right isn’t supporting the curr

there is morality: freedom being the moral pursuit of the system.

freedom being considered worth more than life itself.

there is no "greater good" than individual freedom being pursued by the institutions on that model, yes.

you don't "kill everyone" with very little regulation.

Which normal countries?

Which normal countries?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-mas...

btw many American states have some variants of those laws, but they often don't enforce them

https://thesicktimes.org/mask-bans-and-p...

basically COVID broke the enforcement and is now used as an excuse to allow criminals to lower the odds of being captured by being unrecognizable in public.

Even the democrat NY mayor some months ago started to realize masks have to be banned in public (albeit only in a few areas according to him)

So we shouldn’t wear mask in public for security reasons but allowed any dickhead to have a gun for security reason ?
Well that some kind of freedom ideas I suppose .

And yet not long ago

Except for wearing mask in public because banning those is even worth more then life itself ….?

It’s amazing how you can’t even see how many times you contradict yourself.

Ps: Regulation actually reduced death , not expand it .

Public areas are co owned property, it's legitimate to regulate what you can or can't do there (including having guns).

2a though exists while there is no constitutional right to wear masks in public, to be irrecognizable in general.

But in a country without the 2a It would be legitimate to limit what you can bring with yourself in public in general.

What's not legitimate is when they tell you what you can do within private property.

There is no contradiction.

Luciom why do you like banning stuff so much?

Luciom why do you like banning stuff so much?

I don't love banning stuff but I like to be able to say what I want to do with property I co own with others. It's a property right issue which you might not consider as such.

In my house and on my property on general I want to decide absolutely everything that goes on, is that strange? And when it's co owned by others I try to convince people to agree with my preferences about how to use that property, don't you?

On your "property" aka as Italy you also want laws that will put people to death by the state if they don't support Italian values (wtf they are).

So for example if a law was passed to ban homosexuality and a group of people protested against that law, you want them to be killed.

So it's legitimate to require vaccinations for people in public areas?

I think you meant to say that they never enforce them.

by Morphismus k

Anyway I'm calling it; this is domestic terrorism imo. That guy doesn't give off the vibe of someone avenging his mother or the like. Now with this new photos it might even be conceivable that he had accomplices in the area with similar outfits to throw law enforcement off. Something is going on here.

I’m doubling down on wife got herself a hitman

The timing of all this and the history of outrage versus what this level of ‘action’ seems way too arbitrary to be ‘viva la revolucion!’ re: health care

So you're saying a well-to-do wife hired a professional hitman that wasn't smart enough to conceal his face in public, or simply get an itinerary from the wife so he could do it in an area without 200 cameras? Did she hire this hitman during a Black Friday sale?

I'm putting my money on the wife theory.

Hired hitmen aren't necessarily professionals as numerous cases highlight

The wife theory is dumb. Whomever did this wanted it to be a spectacle. It being in midtown Manhattan, writing deny, defend, depose on the shell casings, and leaving Monopoly money in a book bag.

It’s either some kind of activist/terrorist group who wanted to shine a line on the insurance industry or part of the hacking group that blackmailed United Healthcare for its data breach. I believe they paid out $700 million to them. Maybe there was an additional payment that wasn’t made.

The wife is very low probability and I’m surprised there are many people in a poker forum who would think it’s the most likely. She could get rid of him with much less attention on it. I will admit the fact they are separated but not divorced does add fuel to the fire. But she would have to be a madwoman to do this in midtown Manhattan and she would have to know she would be the first person they’d look at. Especially since they were separated.

Regardless, this is an interesting case and I wish people would focus more on theories and less on the meta dynamics. Which are also interesting but have run its course already in this thread.

Right - so she hired her mechanic's nephew's friend for $5K when she has tens of millions at risk?

by campfirewest k

I'm putting my money on the wife theory.

Pretty tough to hire a hitman without getting jackpotted. Quite a few people in prison for it. Add in a lot of wealth and it's a recipe for endless blackmail.

The monopoly money thing would be a strange add-on for a true pro. But a clever getaway distraction(throw money in the air obv lol) if things go sideways some rando could come up with imo.

I'm thinking it's basically what it looks like until there's some other real proof.

by Land O Lakes k

I'm not saying I subscribe to the theory, I'm simply saying that plenty of non professional downright dumb hitmen have been hired in the past in various cases.
Personally I still suspect it's insurance related. We'll have to wait for further information and developments.

Well, sure. Can you list some cases where the target made $10MM a year?

It's also possible that this is a disgruntled ex-employee who, in addition to killing the CEO, is trying to whip up anger against UHC.

Why? I just told you I don't subscribe to the theory.

Why? I just told you I don't subscribe to the theory.

Because you're the one who refuted my hypothesis by saying there are plenty of cases. Why would you not want to share those cases?
