Quick Stud Hi 6th St Spot

Just wondering if checking back 6th is better here as betting looks ridiculously strong vs his board.

Easy bet. He’s probably not even golfing Kk and he’s been repping stronger

Think about what you are saying - you want to check with basically the nuts because it looks strong to bet? Well, if you never bet your good hands you will definitely be tricky! But you won't put any money in when you have a good hand, that seems problematic.

if betting looks strong, find some bluffs! Your good hands want to bet, if you can't get paid off, bluff more

I get you, but I am struggling to think what bluffs in my range get to 6th this way vs a high paired door, to the point that maybe we have no bets here and checking the straight protects lots of our mediocre stuff that wants to see the next card. Maybe 6sXs or 4sXs where X also gives us a gutter or OESD. Range vs range here I am doing awfully.

Villain snap folded and he is one of the best players in the pool which is why I posted it. Guess I DO need to be more aggro (though I have a higher AggFreq than him so didnt think I would be viewed as so nitty) 😀

I mean maybe your "bluffs" are just 9966 and AA, which aren't bluffing but clear out a ton of equity when he folds. Maybe you continue 99A on 4th here and bluff that, shrug, I am confident in saying there isn't a reason to check this hand, but to figure out how to make your overall strategy tougher so he has a tough decision

What if you had started not 789, but 89T? At this point, you would only have a gutshot straight draw. But, since he folded, that was good enough to bet, right?

Yea good point, I forgot about 89T which is probably worth bluffing with, but Im not sure how I often I would find it in game vs the KK up just because my perception would be the fold frequency being so low. I wonder what his folding range looks like here. To fold he has to put me on 78, 55, 66, and nothing else. I guess he has correctly assumed that this is a criminally underbluffed spot and congrats to him for doing so! Have learned from this hand so TY for contributions.

Should he have been calling 4th and 5th with that hand?

Not really, no.
