Caesars Poker Room to close for remodeling? mid July

Caesars Poker Room to close for remodeling? mid July

Played today and the word going around is the rooms closing for remodeling. Not sure on the date of closing (heard maybe July 16) or reopening, but one of the dealers did say they offered to give him a job in Laughlin in the meanwhile.

If it does close hopefully it does actually reopen and not just disappear.

Also, with poker overhead being so high, especially per square foot, and poker margins being so small, it is easy for a poker room to mess up and far into the negative. Overschedule, or add one to many layers of management, and the room looses a large portion of its profit.

With slots it is much harder to mess up because the margin is higher and thr overhead smaller

Again, I fully recognize that there are intangible benefits to having a poker room, but intangibles only get you so far.

bay had the best 1-3 NL games for the past couple years during football season.

easy peasy games.

They don’t have 1-3 NL games

Also, this is regarding Vegas. For regional casinos with lesser competition, the calculus changes as poker might bring in players who wouldn't otherwise visit the casino.

When I'm in Vegas, I don't go into a casino that doesn't have poker, except maybe to get out of the heat for a few minutes.

So. Do you play table games? Slots? They don't want you if all you play is poker.

I don't gamble in a casino, except when playing poker. I won't chase comps or points for playing poker, that's too much like a poorly paying job.

(Anyone know if casinos still employ shills and proplayes, that was truly a miserable way some folks used to make their minimum wage.)

However, you're missing out on a lot of value of being in Las Vegas if you never eat at a casino that doesn't have poker.

Any updates on if/when the room will reopen? I'm planning to be in Vegas 18-24 October, and will likely play a cash session or two at Caesars if it has reopened.

Chances are it is not reopening. Even if they are, def not in October.

Any update on this?

Any update on this?

In a group on Facebook that I am a member of, several people have asked internal sources about it. The word on the street from employees is that the room would either come back just in time for F1 or just after that. So I guess we will find out soon enough.

Thank you for the insightful post and detailed info from sources.

That would be good for me if it did.

Room still closed-looked in last week and they are moving slot machines into the space-does not look like they are planning on bringing Poker back to Ceasars

I read that they are moving the poker room to another location closer to the lobby - but yes, since nothing is up and running yet it's obviously not a good sign :(

I've not heard this...

At least they didn't pull down the "POKER ROOM" signage and throw it in the trash.

I've heard it's moving back past the food court, close to the entrance to Forum Shoppes.

that would be cool if true... close to parking and the Rolex stores.

imo ther'es not enough room back there, unless they want everyone entering/exiting from the parking garage to walk through the poker room

There’s not even enough room for walking through that area as it is .

Definitely no space for poker tables, unless they remove a bunch of those old machines

That would suck. It's hard enough to find video poker as it is. I think Eldorado has a deep hatred for anything related to poker. VP used to be sprinkled all around slot areas because I often played it while waiting for a seat.

Which, if true, means there won't be a poker room anyway.

I would be surprised if it will re-open. Closed the room at Harrahs, Linq, there is a pattern. Will funnel more people to Horseshoe.

They also sold the WSOP. The Horseshoe poker room isn't some extensive facility that they couldn't easily knock down and replace with slots.

Feels like Caesar's is "folding" their poker business, long-term.

Awkward for me because CET is the main rewards program I engage with, and soon they might not offer any poker.

Time to start cozying up to MGM? I like the location of the CET properties for their proximity to Wynn and Venetian, which MGM's portfolio lacks.

Spoke to a Caesars dealer last night who said his best guess is that they'd reopen in a month. He got a part-time job in another room just in case, though.

Maybe they should open a new room in the forums shopping area... like the Venetian.
