In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there are important, interesting or just plain weird things happening out there and a group of people can find these better than one.
I thought I would test with a thread for linking general news articles about "other news" and discussion. Perhaps it goes into the abyss that is page 2 and beyond, but it is worth a try.
Some guidelines:
- Try to find the "clean link", so that links to the news site directly and not a social media site. Avoid "amp-links" (google).
- Write some cliff notes on what it is about, especially if it is a video.
- It's not an excuse to make outlandish claims via proxy or link extremist content.
- If it's an editorial or opinion piece, it is polite to mark it as such.
- Note the language if it is not in English.
- There is no demand that such things be posted here, if you think a piece merits its own thread, then make one.

The one thing that comes to mind...I was 19 or 20 and lived with a bunch of drunks and we were at this party and for whatever reason the party hosts were being dicks to us not sure why because it wasn't like we weren't invited....so we're seated around a table playing ******* which was our thing back then, and one girl said something to my friend who we'll call Abby and she was like "**** this" and took her beer and just poured it on this girl's carpet. My other friend then was like "oh this is happening" so he flips the table up, he gets punched and just turns without looking (so he says) and hits the person who punched him who was a girl.
We all leave immediately and the girl who was hit's brother now has me by the shirt collar in the parking lot and he's like 3x my size demanding I tell him who it was that hit his sister and I'm like "I swear I don't know him and somehow got out of that situation. A few hours later cops are at our place arresting my roommate in his boxer shorts.
And yeah he had been in the army..
you've never witnessed an event where someone is being a bit of an asshat to either a group of people or an individual and some rando who has nothing to do with it comes out of nowhere and clocks him?
happened very often with foreign tourists and italians teaching them behavioural lessons.
Main problem is they are already totally drunk before it's even dinner time so the behaviour looks 100x worse than it would at 1am
i would acquit on murder charges, but feel like if he were charged for involuntary manslaughter instead of homicide he would have been easily convicted - like there's multiple people telling him to lay off before he kills him whereas others are debating whether or not he's already dead and the guy maintains his choke hold
He was charged with both manslaughter and negligent homicide. Negligent homicide is the lesser charge equivalent to involuntary manslaughter of which he was acquitted. The manslaughter charge was dropped to avoid hung jury/dismissed case and prosecution thought the lesser charge would have a better chance.
Tough case if you weren’t there and just have to trust the jury since they’d here from witnesses on the train. seems like it was an over reaction to me since it was just verbal threats. witness who helped hold him down and claimed to be struck by deceased recanted and admitted he fabricated being hit because he feared he’d be charged with murder since many people were trying get the defendant to release his hold after a couple of minutes.
I wouldn't be so quick to go to bat for the "moderate rebels" after scrolling Twitter today. Just endless videos of executions.
for the most part I was against Assad and felt pretty happy when his regime fell and this was supported by the scenes of jubilation and the emptying of the prisons. but after watching Israel destroy 100s of sites and steal a ton of land and with the "moderate rebels" just mass murdering villages and hospitals, well...I wont question the tankies again.

Execution and massive amount of people got unjustly suffered under that family regime for the past 50 years.
So I was just not understanding why now you felt executions would be that important when the regime felt while it already was occurring shrug.

I support civilians intervening to defend people from violent threats.
Stop obsessing about race, the threats can be from all races, as the good Samaritans can be from all races.
The death is unfortunate as an outcome but it can happen, and as the jury from the ultra democratic stronghold determined, it is not a crime to defend the public from direct credible threats of violence even if at the end the threatening person dies.
He never strangled him to death . When the paramedics arrived he was alive but they refused treatment because they feared he had HIV
The coroner did rule the strangulation led to his death when reality his threats of violence led to his death . 50 charges or convictions on a top ten NY list some deaths are just a public service

I think someone's feeding that congressman disinformation. I don't think Iran has the type of technology I saw in real time, able to maneuver like it did.
If there is a mothership out there (which makes sense since Toms River/Bricktown have a lot of sightings of "drones" coming from the ocean) I don't think it's Iran, but that's just me.
