does purdy fetch $33M on the market? would've made all the sense last season (9.6ypa 31td/11int) but he's dropped off on pace for 8.2ypa 20td/14int. also just doesn't pass the eye test. game's a lot harder when you don't have elite o-line giving you 5 sec per dropback to find 2-3 receivers coasting open with 4 yards separation. losing aiyuk and deebo going pumpkin of course doesn't help.
coaching, systems, and surrounding weapons aren't factored in nearly enough to these qb contracts. after darnold's domination of a paltry falcons defense, everyone who was calling for his demise 2 months ago are now saying he's gotta get extended and paid $40M/yr. KOC+Jefferson explain most of his ascendance. just unfortunate they didn't sign him to a 3 year deal where they could've flipped him to the raiders for 3 1st rounders
Sort of Jets fan here.
We do not want Kyle shitbag Shanahan.
Ah yes, the process that includes serving hot chocolate out of a mop bucket. And we're all truly shocked each time a big free agent instead signs with any other team doing 21st century NFL contracts and gtd money.
educate me. who is the last rostered player they really tried to keep that got away?
Who cares? They either sign free agents who make them better or they don't. Looks like they've been leaning heavily on the "don't" strategy for several years now that they've managed to put together a defense that gives up 10 ypp and 40 ppg. It must be the secret sauce in that peerless Bengals Process.
Why re-sign Jesse Bates when you can find his cheap replacement at K-Mart? Why make a play at DJ Reader when you can downgrade at DI? Why go after Saquon or Derrick Henry when Zack Moss is available? It didn't work for those other people, but it just might work for us. #TRUSTTHEPROCESS
The Purdy chatter was oddly quiet last week, good to know we're back

Chase is a rostered player. my posts to this point were discussing rostered players. you're now going off on a tangent

this might come as a surprise to you, but NFL teams can't spend endless sums of money on their rosters. there's something called a salary cap in place to spur parity and interest in the league
regarding Bates, he isn't a rostered player that CIN really wanted and missed on from keeping (so you're 0 for 1 right now w your guesses). CIN knew they were going to move on from Bates after/during his franchise year. CIN planned for this by investing draft capital on the position: 2023 3rd Round, Jordan Battle, S, Alabama; 2022 1st Round, Dax Hill, S, Michigan; 2022 5th Round, Tycen Anderson, S, Toledo
now is their criticism for Duke Tobin and the football ops dept contuing to swing and miss on key defensive draft picks recently. yes there is. absolutely
a sidenote on Bates, until earlier this month Tee had the same agent as Bates. Tee has since changed agents and now has the same agent as Chase. this coincides w JOE's comments about Tee being a priority and that he believes the Big Three will be able to stay together for the forseeable future. an interesting development for CIN fans
now, finally, let's move on to Reader. late last season (Week 15) Reader went down w a season ending quadriceps tendon tear. you hate to see it. i think this might have changed the FO's tune as it relates to Reader. we now have a player entering his age 30 season w a significant leg injury. i'm happy my FO doesn't go after age 30+ players w significant injuries (you're now 0 for 2 on your guesses)
now did Duke Tobin and his staff find capable replacements for Reader. no they did not. Rankins might have been a nice piece, but by no means is he on the level of a healthy Reader. perhaps Tuma can weigh in and let me know how Reader is playing bc i haven't been following too closely. but a slightly compromised Reader is prob still a tick above a fairly healthy Rankins. either way, Rankins has missed too much game time to be a significant piece along CIN'S D-line this season
relatingly, 2024 second round pick, Kris Jenkins (DT, Michigan) has shown some nice flashes during his rookie campaign
If you like points... you cant do better than Gmen today. +16.5 Devito starting at qb. All you can eat. I'm not hungry. Gonna lose my coins with the Jets again. -3.5
a 5-8 team is at a 3-10 team today and the 5-8 team is favored by 6 pts.
A 12-1 team is at a 3-10 team today and the 12-1 team is favored by 4.5 pts.

Chiefs have made a deal with the devil
Turnovers everywhere
Mac you clown
How did the pats ever let Mac Jones go
Once again I'm letting you know that free money is to hammer the Browns moneyline, then cash out when they take the lead.
Although you could hold out to see if the Chiefs get a bigger lead first.
lol Texans taking the FG. music to my ears.
checking in to LOL at the Cleveland Browns, what a pathetic clown show of an organization
LOL. The Giants are so bad that the Ravens just punted on 4th and 1 at the 50 yd line.
