The "LOLCANADA" thread...again

So what's new?

I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet...i'd be shocked if they lost the election now.

Just shows just how incompetent Conservatives are.

Is the end finally near? A lot of rats jumping ship before it sinks.

I just read that resignation letter. Ouch her comment we need to stop with theses political gimmicks referring to Justin's gst holiday .

This is not good for Mr Feminist

Reading the tea leaves today and actually I'm more aligned with shifty now. THere is SO much chaos - clearly the PMO had no idea this was coming and daggers are out. I think it's over sooner than later. IF carney is announced by wednesday of this week for finance minister then maybe they have a shot of saying we are turning the page and giving it six months with the new guy, that's what I was suggesting earlier. But I think that was Plan A. And Plan A might be gone now. Probably is gone now. And freeland has absolutely poisoned the well and I would not be surprised to see the government prorogued before christmas.

lozen you might get your wish, leaks that trudeau is considering resigning.

Today.

But I do not want him to resign 😀 They may bring in someone competent

Hey we all remember when Bill Mourneau resigned as well

Well I'll tell ya'll what. If, by the end of this week, there is not a clear resolution such as Mark Carney for Finance brought in, then I will actually join the side that says he should either call an election or step down, prorogue, and hold a leadership race.

Basically my view is this. Pre trump being elected, my view was he should stay on. That even though unpopular, an extra 9 months of continuation of policies like dental care and pharmacare and $10 a day daycare, housing accelerator etc all help to entrench those policies and make them more like to survive Poilievre (much like how obamacare survived trump's 1st term).

But the threat from Trump is a massive, massive threat to Canada. That threat is dwarfing pre-trump thoughts of mine. And to face that threat, I want a really strong government. And right now the government is weak. Partially due to their own making, partially externally, but it just objectively is weak. It's sort of sick to even say this (diplomacy shouldn't be based on whether you "like" someone) but Trump's personal preferences are not nothing. I think Freeland feels this way based on her letter, and I agree.

I'll also add: it really seems that if Trudeau refuses to do either, that the NDP basically has to vote nonconfidence. Like if there was EVER and excuse to pull the plug, isn't it now? Trudeau at his absolute weakest point in 9 years. Yes I get it the NDP polls suck, but if you back the Liberals now then every right wing critique of you just has this ring to it.

Minutes after I type that: Singh steps up to the microphone to waffle. He calls on Trudeau to resign. And immediately REFUSES to answer whether he will vote in a confidence motion. Just says all options on the table.

Carney been refusing to join trudeau since summer and 2 sources says he isn’t interested to join now under Trudeau .

It’s been clear for a while Trudeau should step down …..
Clearly freeland was number 2 for a long time and now she jump ship like many other previously.

Trudeau too stubborn to let go .
His bringing his entire party to hell …..Canada with it , providing a huge opportunity for a conservative majority .
Now Trudeau on a tangent to fack his entire political career left (since he still young he could made a comeback’s later on) just for ego and stay in power .
It’s insane he sees himself leading this country another 4 years successfully.
In the end power corrupts all

We don't know (and now may never know) but there has been rumblings that Carney was likely to come on board, and quite plausibly this is why on Friday Trudeau told Freeland he was moving her out of finance.

Freeland not in cabinet probably changes lot of stuff in carney mind….
And freeland didn’t quit just because of that and she let go the vice title too .

From a strategic point of view for Carney why join a sinking ship?

It seems extremely obvious that carney should not join in. I can't imagine what would entice him. If he joined I guess he would have convinced himself that joining now sets himself up as the defacto next choice and he gets some advantage in the next liberal leadership election. But if he did, I think he would be wrong.

ah we got there. they lost anyway may as well fight the massive threat. 10/10

61.9 Billion

What happened to budgets balance themselves

Today is probably one of the darkest days for Trudeau.

Budget exploded from a "we won't go over 40B deficit" to 62B.

Freeland resigns

Housing minister resigns

Trudeau's entire administration hangs in the hands of Jaghmeet Singh that probably won't willing to keep voting in confidence any further.

The NDP kind of have to vote non confidence. But they know that means conservative rule and NDP basically become irrelevant.

Singh hanging on with confidence votes for Trudeau with 1 more year of power doesn't seem worth it.

lol buddy you are winning big today, take the W, why bother with the half quoting out of context the 2014 gotcha quote instead of...well...um....just about anything else.

I never realized the housing minister resigned as well . I get a kick out of Jagmeet calling on Trudeau to resign . Hey jagmeet you have the power to force him to resign

The dipshit needs to go. Now.

Especially if Singh's call for him to resign means he won't support a non-confidence motion if dipshit resigns, because that's their only hope to put a new leader in place in time for some leadup to the election. If he refuses to go and Singh finally goes along with non-confidence (and the Bloc supports), then they're in a world of hurt. Of course they're in that world anyway, but with new leadership they might be able to save a few regions. If they're forced out with Trudeau still hanging on, it's going to be ugly on the scale of the 1993 Conservatives.

Then again, after today's financial update, maybe it's going to be on that scale regardless. But dipshit still needs to go.

Damn your right he can't call him out to resign and now vote confidence especially with all the pension talk. Its really over huh I expect a resignation tomorrow

You want a bet Jagmeet is all talk . No chance you see a resignation till after the Christmas break. Part of me thinks his ego will get in the way and he doesn’t resign

Earth calling movin.target ….
Comeback to us :p

I mean his fantasy dream of winning another term has to be over now. Why stick around and tarnish his legacy? Trump hates him everyone knows it its kind of important to avoid or reduce the upcoming trade war. Ndp will at least pretend lol

Carney had a reputation for bullying and threatening people much junior to him while he was at the Bank of England, like the stereotypical short man.
