Caesars Poker Room to close for remodeling? mid July

Played today and the word going around is the rooms closing for remodeling. Not sure on the date of closing (heard maybe July 16) or reopening, but one of the dealers did say they offered to give him a job in Laughlin in the meanwhile.

If it does close hopefully it does actually reopen and not just disappear.

They also sold the WSOP. The Horseshoe poker room isn't some extensive facility that they couldn't easily knock down and replace with slots.

Feels like Caesar's is "folding" their poker business, long-term.

Awkward for me because CET is the main rewards program I engage with, and soon they might not offer any poker.

Time to start cozying up to MGM? I like the location of the CET properties for their proximity to Wynn and Venetian, which MGM's portfolio lacks.

I am also a CET member and hate MGM rooms. I love RW and Wynn I also like O8 so I am in Orleans a bunch.

Spoke to a Caesars dealer last night who said his best guess is that they'd reopen in a month. He got a part-time job in another room just in case, though.

His best guess doesn't mean anything. If Caesars hasn't shown any interest in reopening the room after the high limit slots renovation was completed, the room is toast. No doubt bean counters are pointing to the revenue those slots in the old poker room is generating.

Can’t say if high limit slots reno is complete. But the bad news to me is that unlike in Oct when I was here the “Poker Room” signage is now down. If they were close to reverting the area to poker why remove the signage this late in the reno time line.

Can’t make any determination on poker at CP but seems unlikely to return to same location.

As an aside those talking about how El Dorado sd the Linq. Pretty sure Linq room was closed well before that deal closed. But you can point to closing PH room.

Bean counters are going to count beans, to the detriment of poker players.

Wish I read this thread earlier I played with one of the floor guys from CP the other night but I think it's obvious they won't be opening the room.

When I was there for T-day the room was closed off. I could see some machines in there, but they were covered up.

I also spoke to a Caesars dealer who said that they received an email saying that it will be a little bit longer until they open.

This is the 3rd email saying this.

I think poker at Caesars is toast. I would love to be wrong, but it is quite clear that at a minimum it isn't a priority.

What poker players?

The nits that fold all day long and grind for hrs just to get a free ****ing drink.

Lmao. Good riddance.

110% agree. I have playd at Ceasars many times and the games have been bad 99 out of 100 times. The 1 time it was good I was there for over 24 hours vs a bunch of drunk guys who were blasting like absolutely crazy. But yeah, most of the time it is a complete nit-fest and you will get eyerolls if you raise preflop.

The nits will just move to another room; they won’t disappear from Vegas. I prefer they stay at Caesars, but I don’t think the room is coming back.

But they’re all just playing low stakes anyway. A 1-3 game with a $500 max is probably too big for them.

That game was pretty miserable at low stakes... 2/5 was aight, but inconsistent.
That's why I never shed a tear for that room.

This is what I was thinking too.

All of them have moved over to the $2/$3 game at the Horseshoe. That game can be absolutely miserable if there are enough regs. Literally everyone has their nose stuck to a screen and the pots rarely go over $30.

^ this... hence, Rice.

According to person who is in the know (Privacy) the room is opening next month, different location.

I played with this person within the last 2 days.

That's like two levels beyond hearsay...

LOL I like to keep it discreet but this individual has first hand knowledge of the topic. We will see.

if it even opens I expect it will be in a space like Mandalay Bay without a dedicated room. they obviously aren't creating a nice space for it

let me say this... IF it reopens, I will be there day 1 to check it out.

The thing is why would this need to be kept a secret unless there’s a possibility of it not reopening ever?

Caesars was a popular room. If they were reopening, why wouldn’t there be a date for it? It’s not like they would have to build out a place for it.

The reasoning for temporarily closing, the high limit slot renovation, is over.

I don't know who your source is. All of the dealers have received emails saying next month. The problem is that they have received multiple emails like this for many months.

Secret? They said from the start that it would re-open.

Secret? They said from the start that it would re-open.

They also said Flamingo and Harrah's poker rooms would reopen too after borrowing dealers for the WSOP.

My point was if they were planning on reopening and had a firm or soft reopening date, why wouldn't they announce that on Bravo? It would probably take less than 48 hours to move the slots out of the poker room and move all the tables back in. So they would have to rehire the dealers and staff first. Not a single dealer has gotten a firm restart date since the high limit slots room reopened.

What reason would Caesars have now to have not reopened the room?

It also makes no sense to reopen in a different location. They have a location.

This just shows how little Eldorado/Caesars cares about poker. They closed Flamingo/Harrahs/Linq poker rooms. They decided to "temporarily" close Caesars poker room to put their high limits slots inside during renovations of their main room.

I doubt that it reopens, if it does, it won’t be until traffic picks up closer to the spring Vegas circuit event or WSOP.

Most people that aren’t out here consistently don’t realize that cash game poker is not doing well at the 1/3 limit. All of the reasons have already been discussed. Also as someone familiar with the casino side, there is significant traffic for ultimate texas hold em from younger clientele that would have historically wandered to a strip poker room and played $200-$300. The old guys who maybe used to play 1/3 also love UTH.

I will say also that SouthPoint property has done a pretty good job of consolidating local poker traffic with a combo of promotions and dailies that are doing well. Its a far drive for any tourist but the locals don’t mind the trip out there.

There is no market for any stake that CP can justify management and supervisors + all the dealers and staff needed (cage, security for box pick ups, etc). The high limit games aren’t leaving Bellagio/Aria/Wynn, the mixes aren’t leaving RW/Orleans, the tourney’s aren’t leaving Venetian, so the only traffic really left to take is MGM *♂️. You only split the insufferable promo grinders between Horseshoe and CP if you do reopen when you can just keep them at one property and save all the man hours.
