NCAA FOOTBALL 2024 MEGA THREAD - WELCOME TO THE PLAYOFF ERA

NCAA FOOTBALL 2024 MEGA THREAD - WELCOME TO THE PLAYOFF ERA

Just 8 days until Florida State plays Georgia Tech!

A lot happened while you were away:

Texas and Oklahoma joined the SEC

The Pac-12 went out in a blaze of glory:
Oregon, Washington, USC and UCLA are headed to the B1G
Utah, Arizona, Arizona State and Colorado are headed to the B12
Cal and Stanford along with SMU are somehow headed to the ACC
Poor old Wazzu and Oregon State are now aligned with the MWC in some sort of in-flux relationship

The conferences are huge now, and the schedules are wildly imbalanced. Florida might have the hardest schedule in the history of the sport, while Missouri's playing a sun-belt slate.

FSU and Clemson play each other, but then play ZERO common ACC opponents

Utah/Baylor and Arizona/Kansas State play non-conference games against conference opponents

LSU and USC play in Vegas!

Boise goes to Oregon, a team they've never lost to!

Texas at Michigan!

Alabama at Wisconsin!

Notre Dame at ATM!

Clemson vs Georgia!

And there are some incredibly juicy new conference matchups:

Texas @ ATM is back!

Texas vs Georgia

Oregon vs Ohio State

USC @ Michigan

USC vs Penn State

And then the bizarre:

UCLA @ Rutgers is now a conference game

Syracuse plays home and away against Cal and Stanford for some reason

Half the teams have new coaches, transferred quarterbacks, or both!

Let's get it on!

Not every game goes into the thriller/drama/action genre, some are comedies!

Some are horrors. Ask Ohio State fans.

Tennessee crushes Osu and plants a Michigan flag mid field. Ryan day gets fired instantly.

… is my prediction

I still believe

Think Clemson is gonna score about 10 points total, but rooting for them to win anyway

Also rooting for this. Always liked Tennessee since our trip there, and would love to see OSU lose

Texas about to take Clempson behind the woodshed

You know it's gonna be a great game when there are TWO chick sideline reporters!

Hook 'em!

Hook 'em!

Speed scrolling I read this as Hookers lol

Took Clemson when 14 flashed. Not sure if it'll be a good game but at least it's the first time a dog had the lead AND the first dog to score a touchdown in the firest half...

That's great how the announcers didn't notice the synchronized clocks

Man, the favorites in these 3 playoff games are clearly playing better and deserve to win / be winning, but all 3 are just running hotter than the sun too

recovering every fumble, tipped passes for INTs, FG variance, everything just hotter than the sun

Nice voodoo

That block seems totally fine? Like, the guy is 1 yard away from the runner, about to tackle him and the guy just gives him a normal pop

it's not like he blew up a QB who was just standing there watching

55 yard penalty and wipes a TD off the board for Clemson

I can believe that's supposed to be a penalty, but I think it's a stupid rule; he was about to make the tackle and the guy basically beside him blocked him away. I find it hard to believe he didn't know the 300 pounder running beside him wasn't there.

The rule was really meant to stop designed plays that called for blindside blocks or cheapshots on chaos plays. I think they've taken it too literally, but I will say at least they do call it pretty consistently.

Great graphic; Ewers is significantly worse when pressured.

Just like literally every other quarterback ever.

Oregon plays 2 of the 3 OSU teams, and the one they miss are the buckeyes.
their opening game should be interesting.

Aug. 30 - Montana State
Sept. 6 - Oklahoma State
Sept. 13 - at Northwestern*
Sept. 20 - Oregon State
Sept. 27 - at Penn State*
Oct. 11 - Indiana*
Oct. 18 - at Rutgers*
Oct. 25 - Wisconsin*
Nov. 8 - at Iowa*
Nov. 15 - Minnesota*
Nov. 22 - USC*
Nov. 29 - at Washington*

based on my quick and crude search for natty odds,
the chance of two reining national champions meeting in eugene on 8/30 is almost 9%.
maybe that happened in the 'declare yourself champion' era, but can't remember anything similar in the past 50 years

fantastic deep cut
Soul Christmas is an amazing album

Are they still trying to win?

Shoulda taken the penalty and gone for 2, but I guess that wouldn't leave room for Jesus to swoop in later?

Agree. It was hard for my girlfriend to comprehend my love of Xmas songs until I showed her I meant "good" Xmas songs.

Credit to Clempson for not rolling over and dying, but with that lol defense they don't belong any more than SMU or Indiana.

ETA: What is with Sark and the FPS? Good thing for him teh Dabos are bad

If they held a contest to design the worst possible NCAAF playoff, you couldn't make a worse one than this.

I know the defense was the real problem, but missing their 2 actual running backs was a pretty big handicap I mean they literally played a WR there.

I'll also echo Sark from last week; the officiating was pretty uneven.

Luckily I DID wait for +14 and took up to +27.5 ingame, but I think I lost a 100-1 Clemson ticket.

tOSU -7. Feels dirty but just can't ignore the home effect and how bad UT has looked in road 1st halves.
