That's what he said before every commercial break on Love Connection

Stood for: 2 minutes and 2 seconds. The commercial break timing.

I knew it would be Chuck before I opened the thread this morning, but I had no idea he was such a Renaissance man! That song is great. Maybe it'll get back on the charts with his passing? RIP indeed.

As I assume he predicted, the Amazing Kreskin has passed away.

I thought Johnny Carson died years ago

Carson's character was Carnac the Magnificent.

Kreskin who had a mentalist/esp act, was a frequent guest on his show.

I thought he was already dead, and for a really long time.

I'm not sure which is least important. Suns legend Dick Van Arsdale and tabla master Zakir Hussain have passed away.

DVA (the original Sun) scored the first Suns points in the NBA and still holds the all-time scoring record for the franchise. ZH was a master musician, composer, producer and film actor.

RIP Zakir

I almost wrote 'no one but Red will know who he is'. Thanks for posting the vid.

I have also managed to see John Mc twice. once on the Shakti tour and once on the Paco de lucia, Al dimeola tour.

This is the future of East Indian Tabla... Rimpa Siva. This girl really is extraordinary with her precision and speed. She is extremely complex with her rhythms.

thanks for posting that schu
haven't listened yet but saved Siva for later

may i relay another one for zoning out
Zakir and John from a much different place

Just found out about Chuck Woolery.

Rickey Henderson 65

The greatest base stealer in MLB history.

oh wow
never mind spinning stolen bases over his head by almost a 50 percent gap over Lou Brock in second place
always thought the most badass thing about Rickey was his record for leading off games with a home run
81 times over his career, exactly equivalent to half a lifetime season Rickey Henderson dingered in his first AB

Almost every time I hear his name, I think of, and damn near recite, this:

Sad news in the sports world with the passing of Greg Gumbel.

When I was in high school in Skokie Ill, he was the sports anchor at WMAQ-TV. He came to our school to host the HS Basketball game of the week and I got to meet him and show him around the school and on to the gymnasium.

We then met up again years later at the '92 Olympics where we had some fun conversations about the business and Chicago.
I found him to be very friendly and conversive.

Greg Gumbel
the epitome of original old GG

Gumbel was essential to March Madness. Seemed like an honest, and good, and wonderful guy.

it was almost always guaranteed
measured by the pace of vowels madly marching toward the four corners of a gumball machine
college sports has lost yet another eternal voice
