Netflix "Watch Instantly"

Netflix "Watch Instantly"

I just recently rejoined Netflix and was pleased to see they have added a "Watch Instantly" feature where you can stream a movie over the internet. The selection of movies/shows is subpar, but it's free baby! Well, free as in no extra charge. You can watch 1 hour for every dollar/month your subscription is and it doesn't affect your queued/shipped movies at all. Minuses are that you have to be running Windows and Internet Explorer, but the quality is great! I have a garbage laptop, but it looks the same as a DVD to me and it hasn't skipped/paused/hiccuped once so far.

Awesome. I am so looking forward to this series.

The new movie Juror #2 on max, probably Clint Eastwoods last movie (he isn't in it) is worth a watch.

It has many implausible elements and is centered around moral dilemmas.

New Dexter ain’t bad at all. First episode was rough but I genuinely liked the 2 latest.

I'm the complete opposite. I really enjoyed Ep 1, and Ep 2 and 3 were hard to watch.

Spoiler
Show

I get that it was only his second kill, but it's tough to believe Dexter would knock the guy out at his home and then drag him back to the Jai Alai place. Especially with so much emphasis on not getting caught.

Yea, that part had me baffled. lol

Yeah… that was idiotic as hell lol

Dramatic license

Kings of Tupelo is well worth-watching. It's best to watch it totally cold, so all I'll say is that every person in the documentary is straight out of a Faulkner novel.

I enjoyed Carry On the new Netflix movie, I guess it qualifies as a thriller/action.

It’s exactly the kind of thing I generally love but I’ve got about 45 mins in and have lost the will to continue. I’m guessing I’m almost at the end of the part where they coerce him into ignoring the package but it’s taken way too long

I liked it, but if you're ready to quit 45 in you definitely need to just forget about it. It's for sure downhill a bit from there. The most enjoyable part for me was Bateman. Without him I'm sure I'd hate it.

It was instantly forgettable and poorly written. Like AI wrote it.

Pretty much this. Bateman was fun, and it goes down easy enough. But there is no reason to go out of your way. It definitely goes downhill halfway through the movie.

4 episodes into The Agency and absolutely loving it. I think it's fantastic.

Love how the female spy tasked with getting the appointment to Iran decides to play hard to get with the Iranian tectonic scientist instead of throwing herself at hi, like I'm sure most "first-level" spies might do. It's like chess. Or poker.

It's funny, I think of myself as pretty smart, like I'm sure most people do lol. But there is no way I could be a spy...or even an analyst. I have very little guile. I know it's only a show, but the world it depicts can't be completely false, right? Fascinating to wonder about how diplomacy, war, and coups actually happen in the real world.

Did you catch this Sunday's 60 minutes piece on the exploding pagers?

I did not...

one thing that The Agency is doing quite well is the personal relationships between everybody...whenever you go to the personal lives of characters in a show like this, it's so hard not to be cliche or boring where the audience is like, "who cares?, get on on with the spy stuff," you know?

The Agency is so well written that every relationship seems real - Fassbender, Geer, and Wright all seem to have a long relationship working together, and they have private jokes that aren't explained and you can see how they react differently to different characters because their relationships are different to different characters. Even the scenes with Martian and his daughter Poppy are interesting because the relationship seems real. And those personal relationship scenes are never too long, they are quick, in and out, and they move on...very well done.

Did the original French show also do this well?

I finally got around to watching the entire thing tonight. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but unlike a Faulkner novel I was rolling during much of the last 15 minutes.

I briefly met one of the primary characters some years ago. Interesting and fun watch!

Pantheon is on Netflix now. If you are into science-fiction I can’t recommend it enough. One of the best things I’ve watched this year.

Yes, Liv Boeree was highly recommending it on X and also gave the hot tip that season 2 is free on YouTube.

I still have to finish season 1.

Yes. 100% one of the best aspects of The Bureau.

Once again, all you're telling me is this is an exact copy.

But maybe I'm being too negative here. Maybe this makes the GOAT spy show accessible to people who can't handle subtitles.

Though I'm a native English speaker, my language skills are pretty good. I'm semi-fluent in Spanish and understand enough German, French and Japanese to use both my eyes and ears when watching subtitled shows in those languages.

i am fluent in french and i am currently watching the bureau. I need the english subtitles quite often to understand either mumbled sentences or expressions that are completely senseless even for a fluent person.

I love foreign films and TV...watched 2/3 of the first season of The Bureau when it first came out but never finished it...don't remember why, just that it didn't grab me as much as The Agency is doing.
