Who cares who's idea this was or that was, we should always be putting our heads together to solve major global issues. War is a major humanitarian issue, of which we had none when Trump was our President the first go around. There's a lot at stake rn, it's not a popularity contest or about the media getting butt hurt from Elon taking their voices away on Twitter.

There are a lot of memes about Trump being an idiot and proposing ridiculous solutions to complex problems, but are there examples of him actually being handed a controller not plugged into the console and him thinking he's playing?
Edit: In hindsight, I probably know the answer to this, and should read some of the books that came out after his first stint in the Oval. Still, I don't think he's blind to plots like this that are hatched and widely spread on social media. He spends 10 hours a day on his phone...
Are the people on the left here following the war going on between MAGA and Musk libertarian techbros on twitter? it has been like 3-4 days of constant warfare with Musk team defending H1B visas and indian immigration for IT jobs and the actual racist MAGA core on twitter going fully crazy against them.
I understand that for people who think Musk is MAGA the above is nonsense but for those who followed closely since the beginning and know those 2 souls of the right are at odds on crucial topics it is not surprising.

I know a CS professor in the US (himself an immigrant) who told me like 20 years ago that he didn't have PhD students without a migration background in years. If you look at the US nobel laureates this century, almost 30% of them in chemistry, physics, and medicine were not born in the US.
Putting aside the immigration aspect, the question I don't see being debated is whether Musk is right that America is in trouble if the bottom half of our engineers aren't that good. Obviously, it would be slightly better for us engineering wise, if that bottom half were as smart as the top .1% of foreign engineers. But I am thinking it would be only slightly better. After all, even those .1 percenters would almost all be crushed on an engineering test if they were competing against our best MIT, Cal Tech, or Columbia students. Maybe Musk is just trying to change the bench sitters from the third string to the second string without considering the downsides.

Musk spends a couple months around Maga people and concludes that there is a bigger difference between the average American and joe blow engineers on H1bs than the average American and Wemby or Giannis!
There are 2 separate issues though. If you look at graduate students in math/physics/CS at Harvard/Princeton/MIT Americans especially whites are about as underrepresented as you'll ever see in the US in any field. But it's not unreasonable if you just look at total population. It's not a shock that India and China produce more top level talent than a country with only 330 million people. H1Bs are a completely different story. 25% of the US should be able to do those jobs and maybe crapping on college degrees for the last 8 years and telling people to be plumbers wasn't that smart if you're also racist.

This is part of the immigration debate and Musk realized it very well which is why he said the exact same things in 2023 and in 2024 before election day.
It's just some ultra racists that for some reasons hoped Trump (who never even vaguely hinted at having absolutely any problem with legal skilled immigration at all) would kill legal skilled immigration as well that went nutz.
Normal decent people want legal skilled immigration, don't want any parasite nor any net tax taker immigrant, and want a fairly hard but just path to citizenship for hardworking talented people.
That used to describe the bulk of democrat and republican voters and elected politicians.
Now it represents a tiny amount of democrats and the vast majority of republicans because the democratic party moved obscenely to the left on that (like on many other issues).
Note that there was never a majority in favor of taking in poor people and giving them welfare in any moment in American history yet it happened (because democrats truly hate democracy)
