****OFFICIAL NVG MODERATION DISCUSSION THREAD****
This has been requested in the past, and now it's here! As regular NVG users know, questions about moderator actions are usually told to PM the mod or post in ATF. Now, there's a third option - this thread. You can still PM the mod or start an ATF thread if you don't like the response/decision you received.
This thread is not for mod bashing, trolling, flaming, or general idiocy. But if you have a question about why X disappeared, or some other mod issue/action, fire away.

... For a variety of reasons NVG mods have been notoriously hesitant to perma-ban posters. I think there have been only a handful of cases in the past six years. And in each case I would say that the poster essentially banned himself by flagrantly posting in direct violation of recent mod messaging warning that a perma-ban would result.

I know others have sought the same on the grounds of protecting OP from himself but I think it needs to be locked and deleted to protect the victim of his stalking.
The OP claims to be the victims in this case but the thread is just an extension of his harassment of the true victim here.
Her name is mentioned and someone seems to have posted a picture of her.
Please lock and delete the thread.

if anything, the thread could be good for OP where he comes looking for support from his peers and we instead reinforce that his behavior was unacceptable
he may think melissa is playing hard to get, but perhaps he'll listen to his peers whom he came to expecting

Yeah, I can see your point and agree a bit. I guess I’m just viewing the thread as a way that he is perpetuating his stalking behavior.

NVG mods have decided to:
1. Move NikoP related posts from this thread to the NikoP thread
2. Keep the NikoP thread closed
3. Ban NikoP for misusing 2+2 forums for personal reasons

Am I allowed to reply to these posts? The first one is calling me a political slur and allowed to stand, and the 2nd one brings up a comment I made on homelessness and makes it own counter-point to it. Yet the moderator has deleted posts of mine and said that talking politics or homelessness will get you banned. But apparently allows for personal politically motivated attacks at me by others.
We will take this under advisement.
^Nice moderating. Allowing people to call me slurs then saying you'll ban futher posts on the topic so I can't reply to said slurs even calmly. Then calling me names after I point out that's unreasonable.

I think it’s more of the double-standard of “no politics” unless, it seems, it goes against the right.
Still not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but it’s pretty hypocritical for portions of the site to claim to be politics free only to have them allow one side while deleting the other.
I added the wrong title to a thread I created and couldn't edit it afterwards. The title of the article would obviously be much better to draw attention to what the thread is actually about. Could one of the mods change the title for me please?

continuing to ban the "most extreme posters" over the year created a circle jerk of consensus over what and how people need to interact
just look at any old thread and you'll see anywhere from 10-30% of the posters there have since been banned
it creates a recursive loop where those who want such a culling become a greater percentage of the forum itself and we end up with ultimately a graveyard that's highly sanitized to the liking of a couple posters with piss jars in their rooms

Since you're posting in the NVG moderation discussion thread I assume there's some recent situation with NVG moderation you'd like to address? Otherwise, please post stuff like that in the "About the Forums" section.
Besides that, I'm pretty sure >90% of bulletin boards that were busy 15 years ago don't even exist anymore today. On the ones that still exist, I'd estimate the average age of active users increases 10-11 month per year. So basically the MLB or NASCAR on steroids.
The problem with About the Forums section is that I got abused and ridiculed when I have posted threads in the past there. Comparing a poker forum to a baseball bulletin board doesn't seem to be a fair comparison. I get no protection when I have posted in the about the forums in the past.
When you look at the bigger picture, a forum is a forum. No, they're not all exactly the same, but it's true that forums are on the decline overall. Young people don't use forums to a great extent, so it's not surprising that traffic has gradually decreased. I'm not going to say that "rude regular posters and mods being very strict" absolutely couldn't be factors, but if they are, I'd suggest they're minor ones. I'd also be a little surprised if moderation on the site as a whole is on a trend of becoming stricter.
