NCAA FOOTBALL 2024 MEGA THREAD - WELCOME TO THE PLAYOFF ERA
Just 8 days until Florida State plays Georgia Tech!
A lot happened while you were away:
Texas and Oklahoma joined the SEC

Has the portal always been this nuts? It seems like tons of people are not happy with their playing time (or anticipated playing time) and are jumping ship, often to programs with a lower profile.
Can't blame them, as I'd rather start on top 75 team than ride the pines on a top 25 team

The Portal itself is only 6 years old. Add to that NIL, which is more recent, and the effect is basically as you say.
Years ago Bama could recruit 20 of the 100 best HS players every year and they'd ride the bench until they'd play their SR. Year and get drafted. If you transfered you had to sit out a year and weren't getting paid, so why bother.
Now you can be 2nd string for an SEC team or start for any number of others
Happy Christmas you filthy animals.
Hawaiʻi Bowl I guess the lines jumped on news that Byrum Brown was available for the game. You'd never know it from the first half playing time.

The big thing that exploded the portal was when they got rid of the rule that made you sit out a year after you transferred
Then NIL just poured gas on the fire
Obvious not first down is obvious
Sigh, I had one path to losing and it started with USF punting before the 2:00 warning...
USF is aware they have no time left, right?
Just don't give up the bomb...
USF with the nail in their own coffin corner kick
It's insane to not take another shot at the end zone
...sigh, ok now I need not 2 touchdowns...
I hate overtime...so ****ing much...
Anybody got any numbers on the number of transfers annually pre-portal versus now??
Pitt down to walk-on qb4, star receiver opted out for draft, rb1 (who’s also receiver2) of questionable health, and rb2 & rb3 opt-outs.
Let’s go Mudhens, or whatever.
Toledo - Pitt is like a yard ball with refs.
Is Pitt’s coach dumb or something
This game is stupid lol
So, Alabama lost to Tennessee, who just lost to OSU by about 4 thousand points, and got annihilated by Oklahoma who just got beat up by Navy, and people thought they should've been in the playoffs because of their tOuGh SeC sChEdUle?
Will be hilarious if GT can beat Vandy and complete the trifecta
Don't make me defend Tennessee but Oklahoma did have 25 opt outs including ten starters, which is why it opened at -10 and closed as a pick 'em.

Any argument that involves a bowl result is invalid from the get-go unless you're just trolling. Then it's ok.
