UnitedHealth CEO Assassinated
The murder of UnitedHealthcare's CEO is a strange story. On the one hand, the killer obviously was taking steps to avoid getting caught. He was wearing a hoodie. He used a silencer. He clearly had an escape plan.
On the other hand, he was wearing a distinctive backpack. He may have left a food wrapper and a water bottle at the scene. And there was writing on each of the three shell casings (the words "deny," "defend," and "depose").
The one picture wasn't the issue. They could have had a dozen and they probably have tons of granny videos following him through the city but that's not why they couldn't is him. Identifying him failed when his ID was fake.
He could have worn a disguise or make up or changed his look after to hide but if they tracked him back to a verified identity at the hostel we would have had a driver's license photo and his social media pics immediately. The paper mask was pretty brazen. The pic I saw
And even with the fake ID they would have had tons of pictures making it easier for someone to identify him or spot him.
Are you seriously denying that when mask wearing is normalized it's not easier for criminals to get away with crimes?
I'm not even in the masks did nothing with regards to COVID camp(although most masks people wore and the way people wore them made them useless) but pretending as a byproduct It doesn't make it easier to commit crimes is silly.
And for most crimes we don't have a large number of cops on the case going backwards for days and days of video like we did here.

Without the single picture which they painstakingly got going through hundreds of hours of footage thanks to mask normalization (instead of 30 min of work), the MCD employee woulnd't have recognized him.
Yes disguises as well would be illegal, and makeup doesn't make you irrecognizeable (if it doesn, same rules as mask: illegal). And more than illegal, considered as absolutely weird by normal people, so you get stared at, police gets called and so on.
In the MCD he was eating so the mask was down at times, that's how they recognized him
It was actually amazing that in 2020 and 2021 the especially stupid criminals weren't wearing masks while committing crimes.
When Trumpers are convinced that masks are useless, they're convinced that masks are useless.
I'm just surprised that this kid went to the trouble of fake ID's, hoodies, etc., but didn't think to simply add a baseball cap that would have pretty much concealed his entire face.

They're good at showing who hates themselves.

It's been 6-7 years since the mask enforcement was standard. I would assume you would have data by now to support your argument. Applying the argument to a one off assassination almost 8 years from the start of covid is nutso without any statistical evidence.

No one made this argument. Of course covering your face makes you harder to identify.
That's completely different than you proving there was an increase in crimes using covid masks and this assassination was a prime example.

Wtf are you talking about 8 years since the start of COVID.

Wtf are you talking about 8 years since the start of COVID. It's been about 5 since it was a thing and less than 5 since the world shut down.
You are right I was thinking three election cycles when it's only been two.
Is your argument that the bottom 90% of folks are happier than before covid? Because we can have an economy with a booming stock market and redic rates of suicide and depression at the same time. Stonks just don't involve the people like they used to.
I think covid was legit and our reaction to it was in the realm of reasonable - but we definitely ****ed up the kids in the process and I don't think the adults fully recognize just how mentally ****ed up they've become in the last 5 years.
Living there probably helps.
Many countries have burkas and the likes .
Do they have higher crimes rates then the U.S. ?

Well social media’s certainly didn’t help either ….
They fack up even adults .
Well social media is certainly in conjunction with it and it's a problem but covid exacerbated and sped up the process of everything that is disastrous to human beings.
People need friends, personal relationships, in-person interaction. Sure, we can do without those things but if we are going to do it smoothly, you're going to need a very long transitional period that extends more than a few years, or even a few decades.
We obviously saved lives clamping down like we did, but we've got at least a generation of serious drug use and depression involving adults and our kids that we clearly aren't at all prepared to solve.
I mean, we are literally in a thread, wrestling whether or not a left leaning, right wing, environmentalist libertarian crypto bro is a hero for killing an insurance dude.
What part of "transparent covering exist" do you disagree with?
can go around like this if you think it helps against the terrible virus (or other illnesses)
In America you get to pick the color, fabric, and style of the mask you wear. Hindering this concept becomes extroardinarily problematic to the ethos of what "this" place is about.
