I think this would make poker incomprehensible to spectators.

And I don't like when the game traps me.

Play checkers. Deciding if you should call with a K-high flush is the essence of poker. Having the nuts on the board doesn't happen often enough that even if it was a problem (and it's not) completely up ending how hands are ranked is an incredible overkill. Also, you tend to worry too much about how a spectator sees a hand.

I'm confused 😀

I'm confused 😀

I'm not sure why. These two things are not mutually exclusive.

I think the main question is: how does the new rule affect reading opponent's range ?

If all strategy works there well, like it does in regular NLHE or PLO, then this should be to my advantage.

I'm analyzing this thing currently, it's not easy.

They become mutually exclusive inside my head, because I need to consider both aspects (worry vs not worry).

Ok guys, looks like you don't want a poker to be revolutionized. Let's just wait until situations I previously described happen in reality, we'll then see who was right.

And one more thing - if a rule fixes 4 weird situations at once, it looks like some sort of a clue or hint, it's hardly a coincidence. That's what made me post this thread.

It is entirely possible that someone (you) would worry about a perceived problem and come up with a solution that either does not address the situation or actually makes it worse. I find it humorous that someone not able to follow this logic aspires to "improve" games.

Come up with a revolution that addresses an actual problem in a way that makes sense and people will embrace it. You don't really see 5 card stud anymore, do you?

At least I'm trying. And I will keep trying, because there's infinite possibilities there, so there should be one that successfully replaces card values with a poker hand.

I'll keep searching just a bit more. Actually I found something today, but it would require 6 hole cards and I'm not sure about it.

Don't worry - I take all your comments into consideration. I'm not totally ignoring them.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balatro_(v...)

Balatro was a critical and commercial success upon release, receiving multiple accolades from gaming publications, and reaching over 3.5 million copies sold in December 2024, less than a full year after release. It earned five nominations at The Game Awards 2024—including for Game of the Year and Best Game Direction—winning for Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game and Best Mobile Game.

Balatro shows there is a future for poker among mainstream normies.

Also, Hold'em is perfect.

Thanks for the Balatro game link, I've never heard about it, mostly because I stopped using my PS4. But I'll check out the game today.

This 6 card variant is actually very interesting. If it positively passes all my early tests, I'll make the graphic (very simple rules).
