We’ve Launched the New 2+2 Platform—Check it Out!
Hey, everyone!
We’ve got some exciting news: the new 2+2 platform is finally live at https://twoplustwo.com.
Don’t worry - You can continue using the old platform as usual
The original VBulletin platform and the new one are synchronized, so you can continue using the old one as usual. You can also log in to the new platform with the same username and password.
What is so different about the new 2+2?
- The feed. The feed helps you discover fresh and interesting content on 2+2. This feature is designed to attract new users to the website. This isn’t the final version of the feed or its algorithm. Let’s call it iteration #2 (the first was a Facebook-style feed we shared two months ago). How would you change it?
- Two-level threads. No more derailing! Threads now have a main post, replies relevant to the topic, and separate discussions under each reply.
We’ve introduced many other features, but the two above are the most game-changing.
This new UI/UX is not final—it’s just the starting point of a long journey. Our goal is to make 2+2 the ultimate platform for professional poker discussions.
Thoughts?
Yes, works now. Tnx.
I don't have PM privileges on this new twoplustwo, it only counts my posts I have made on the new one, the other day it said I have 7 posts total or something, and also now when I click my screenname (on desktop firefox private browser) in the top right and click "my profile", it says
"
Error 500
Oops! Something went wrong. We've notified our team.
Using the 2+2 beta, you might encounter some bugs as we improve.
Return to the home page.
Thank you for your patience!
"
And the "return to homepage" button doesn't do anything.
For the sake of other 2+2 members who might decide to use the new platform, could you specify some things that you find awful or perhaps things you'd change? I get that you're not going to use it yourself, but negative feedback is often more valuable than positive. It gives us the ability to change things
Appreciate your response and request for feedback. Many others ITT have hit on my biggest issues:
It's hard to give you the benefit of the doubt when the site experience has continued to degrade under your leadership. Who asked for these changes? What is their purpose? Perhaps I missed this, but why not ask for feedback from users before launching?
Aesthetically I think it's a big downgrade. Think it looks overall much less serious and unprofessional. Much more clutter on the screen. Don't like getting rid of avatars or join date / post count, which helped identify posters and their credibility or lack of in the community, something extremely important to this site moreso than most other forums on the internet.
No interest in algorithms controlling what I see, or threads being split up into multiple discussions. This is one of the last traditional message boards left on the internet and I think most users want to keep it that way.
Don't like "likes" visible on posts as I don't think this stimulates good discussion.
Those are my immediate issues after a brief exploration of the new site. Haven't messed with PM's yet which are also obviously extremely important to users here.
No wood panelling :(
The concept seems to be that by copying Reddit, the site will get more users because Reddit is a big site.
But the reason Reddit is big is because people go there to engage with the community, not because of the structure of the webpage.
Conclusion: the site should be changed in a way to bring the value of the community to the fore. Highlight what talent currently exists in strat forums, in other gambling forums, in online play tech forums. Coaches.
Highlight the communities that still exist, and foster the culture of old in them, as much as is possible.
Also on mobile, once I quote, i can't scroll down to the bottom of the quoted text in order to add my reply. 2-finger scrolling didn't work either, though it should be 1 finger scrolling regardless. Right now I have to press and hold to select text and then scroll to the bottom that way, highlighting everything in the process, and then click the bottom row to remove the highlight.
Fixed.

Confirmed fixed.
Have PM's been removed from the new twoplustwo site? It's not counting my posts on the old site yet so I thought my PM priviliges weren't activated on here but rickroll posted that DMs were removed?

I'm working on adding PM to the new forum. In 2-3 days it will be added.
Pretty weird (and stupid) to have own section for stars when basically no one posts there anymore and gg has bypassed them being the biggest site ages ago.
Is there a way of reporting posts? There is an obvious spam post in H&F which takes me to the new look, and I couldn't find a report button.
Can we no longer place users on ignore?
Really need the one touch ban and clean feature for the new platform. We had several racist troll threads started that I couldn't delete or ban.
Ok, finally perused it last night.
My overall thought is that it's a good start, but needs improvement.
1. I do not like two level threads, although I didn't come across one. Whenever I use forums that use that feature, I often lose track of where I am in the discussion have to check upwards in the thread to make sure in place. Hate opening new threads within threads and having to go back like I do on reddit.
2. In principle I am all for minimalism. But I think that the new forum needs a bit more of contrast in order to make it easier on the eye to differentiate things. Don't know where or how. Don't abandon minimalism (it's good, I like it!), but do make an effort to provide some contrast.
3. Bringing back avatars and post counts will help in that direction for sure. Avatars are an easy way to tell users apart and they do that instantly. Putting them on the side of the posts, like in the old forum will help both with this problem and the problem I describe next.
4. You have to pay attention to the width posts take in a page. If you have wide posts with more than 15 words or so in them, it's tough for the eye to follow the paragraph, so it's easy to lose track of where you are in a text. I think there are readability studies which have shown this. (and if it's not 15 words, it's 20, something like that).
I know that between desktop and mobile, it's hard to build a code that works for both, but here's what my aim would be: When you are using the forum on desktop with a widescreen monitor, posts should be around 40% of the page. Conversely, when you are using the forum on you phone or tablet in portrait mode, posts should take 100% of the page.
Btw, it's fine and good to say that you are keeping the old forums, but in practice it doesnt' seem to work that way. From what I see in the live poker subforum, there's an ever increasing number of threads posted on the new forums which you can only read in the new forum format.
Yeah that icon just means don't bother clicking.
