The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet...i'd be shocked if they lost the election now.
Just shows just how incompetent Conservatives are.
Wasn’t he the fall guy for the scandals? Not sure which one but at one time Trudeau threw him under the bus as well
Yup supposedly this is the week I assume he will prorogue government as well
I will never vote for a liberal again fool me once again………
Yes, SNC-Lavalin.
"I will never vote for a liberal again" - kinda funny how all your seething hatred personally for Trudeau suddenly becomes about all liberals the same day he resigns. Oh shocker, turns out you were a conservative loyalist who will never vote liberal regardless of who it was or how excellent their ideas or character and not just an anti-trudeau guy all along, who would have figured!

Only hated one person in my life but yes Justin made it two .
Two Trudeaus did me in and Ill never vote for a party that supports allowing children to make life changing decisions
Oh there were a few reasonable Liberals in the mix that did pretty good jobs.
Reality is Pierre will bring in two policies day one that will benefit me and his climate action plan will be just as good as Trudeaus in battling climate change . I hope Pierre appoints folks to cabinet based on merit not their gender and if its all women two thumbs up

lol. So sad to see American culture wars imported to Canada - like Trudeau's government didn't pass some controversial trans law that changes whether children "can make life changing decisions" (by which of course you only mean trans kids), yet still you pretend this is your like super reason to never vote Liberal again.
So crazy and sad to see.
Huh? The policy things from the last six months or whatever were hardly "far left fringe" at all. The "desperate" hail mary at the end was the GST rebate and 250 checks - those are standard political fair proposed and implemented by conservative Canadian politicians as well - they are gimmicky and ineffective but hardly trying to appeal to the far left they benefit everyone. In recent months he was dramatically CUTTING immigration (so dramatically that the projections actually suggested populati
Raising capital gains taxes is a page right out of the far left fringe playbook. They would confiscate capital if they could and go back to Chairman Mao's days of the little red book.
Taxing your most productive members of society (capital deployers) just so that virtue signallers can feel good about "taxing the rich" is bad policy through and through. Thank God we survived that bullet.
Another page out of the far left fringe playbook is spending as much money as humanly possible on total useless crap. Mass hiring federal workers by growing government by over 40% headcount. Also sending $20B to the natives as a settlement payment for a nothing burger? Trudeau is literally bribing the natives for votes.
Cutting off immigration is just one of his flip flops after completely getting decimated in the polls because of his unlimited immigration policy.
Another far left fringe thing Trudeau did was stand his ground on useless vaccine mandates for truckers.
This was 100% virtue signalling and he split the country all because he refused to back down on a totally useless mandate. He wanted to appease the vocal crazies on the left that wanted everyone that wasn't vaccinated to lose their jobs, even if being vaccinated mattered or not for the job position. And being vaccinated as a needed requirement to drive a truck alone? Laughable.
These are the same truckers that kept our country from falling apart and worked during covid. Bringing food and supplies to cities. And when it was time to throw them under the bus in favour of the fringe, he embraced the fringe.
I am vaccinated myself, however I found his stance on truckers utterly preposterous.
Before 2020 I had no issues with Trudeau, he stayed out of the way of businesses mostly and ran a steady ship.
Then after 2020/2021 was when the train started derailing hard.

COVID helped us see the true colors of many people, starting from politicians of course.
a ton of purportedly moderated technocratic center left and center right people made it clear they are actually soulless demons inimical to the very existence of everything that makes humanity worth exist for, thanks to COVID.
that "radicalized" a lot of us, most of us will never accept anything but a transparent credible proposition of "never again" to technocratic fascism in all aspects of life after the horrors of COVID mismanagement.
That expanded to "the climate" and any other crisis or problem they purport we need to solve with state power.
they completly and forever lost all credibility and became the clear enemy to fight against at all costs, with "extremism" looking rather innocuous compared to them, because nothing in peacetime history in the west was worse for citizens than what they did with the excuse of COVID.

No its one of the reasons I will not support them and the main one fiscal responsibility they have none

In a decade in power, Trudeau has been absolutely centrist in taxation. He MAINTAINED the corporate tax cuts ushered in by harper, he LOWERED personal income taxes, did TEMPOARY LOWERING of gst (a conservative idea from the prior election remember??) and then the one time there is a genuine raise in a tax rate it is this technocratic tweak that equalizes the taxation paid when returning shareholder value as capital gains or as dividends and doesn't apply to the overwhelming majority of Canadians. Look, I get that you abhor it. But to try and decry it as "far left fringe" is just silly.
None of the other policies support the narrative you said which was that in desperation he turned to appealing to the far left fringe. Like with capital gains, you can criticize the steady growth in the size of the government over a decade - personal growth slowed more recently and a in both budget 2023 and 2024 there was austerity across a lot of departments. You can say it was not good enough etc etc, but it doesn't support your far left fringe narrative.
Also sending $20B to the natives as a settlement payment for a nothing burger? Trudeau is literally bribing the natives for votes.
Can you please stop referring to our First Nations peoples as "the natives"?
Gross.
Full stop.
But also, this money you are talking about is part of a legal process where Canada was absolutely going to lose in the courts without a settlement as far as what I was seeing, and besides is DECADES long in its making and also concluded over a year ago. So once again you can hate on this or not but it simply doesn't support your false narrative of a desperate swing to appeal to far left fringe to stay in power.

**** the anti-vaxxers was pretty widespread view among people at the time, but also how does this support your narrative? He won an election after this! You tried to tell me that when he was down in the polls which I presume you mean since like august 2023 or whatever, that's when he became desperate and turned to the far left fringe. You've been really struggling to find any policy that actually reads as an appeal to far left fringe.
Heard a good assessment on Trudeau
He is responsible for saving the Liberal party in 2015 and now responsible for destroying the Liberal party

I am only talking about last year regarding taxes.
Overwhelming majority of Canadians are not capital deployers so they have no idea about what is happening with the economy. This is why you are only fixated on "returning shareholder value or as dividends" and then actually ignore one of the major impetus decisions for an investor or business to deploy capital or not.
If I have capital, why should I invest it in Canada where my capital gains will be taxed much higher vs the USA? I know tons of people just anecdotally that pulled their money out of Canadian markets and threw it in USA markets.
How do actions like this produce higher GDP / capita for the country? It simply doesn't. Most Canadians have zero clue about large investment decisions.
You may think capital deployment and investment is not important in the grand scheme of things, that is a fringe left position.

These are class action lawsuits that the federal government just uses as an excuse to hand over money without fighting back. A lot like that Khan terrorist where Trudeau just handed him $10M because "we will lose". Have a damn spine with tax payer money. Fight back.
Payments to first nations / natives increased from 11B to 32B from 2015 to 2025. Enough is enough.
Throwing as much money as possible to first nations due to white guilt is also a fringe left position.

Good thing I have great memory.
The election was at end of 2021.
Trucker protests were in early 2022.
Trudeau giving the finger to truckers was due to Trudeau embracing the fringe left that wanted everyone that was not vaccinated to lose their jobs. Remember this was early 2022 when everyone had already had the vaccine or gotten infected. This vaccine mandate on truckers had nearly ZERO impact on reducing covid infections. Everyone had already gotten infected with Omicron yet Trudeau dug in and would not back down regarding the mandate.
The fringe left were the absolute loudest voices regarding firing and even celebrating the deaths of the unvaccinated. You had entire reddit forums celebrating the deaths of the unvaccinated. This is the fringe far left that Trudeau listened to when deciding not to lift the mandates after everyone was already either vaccinated / infected. Nobody else gave a damn, the entire country re-opened early 2022 with no more mandates and everyone went along their lives without a care for Covid.
Throwing our truckers under the bus given the context of where we were with respect to covid in 2022 was just a preposterous thing for Trudeau to do, and frankly shameful. This is coming from someone that supported the vaccines.
COVID helped us see the true colors of many people, starting from politicians of course.

I realized Covid pro shutdown "scientists" were a bunch of hypocrites when during the summer of 2020 they came out and supported mass George Floyd protests while at the same time supported closing the economy down and social distancing. There is no "social distancing" in mass protests, but who cares about covid when its over a protest you support!
Their priority was just virtue signalling while their paychecks were guaranteed. Covid was just a vehicle for them to use to fellate their virtue signalling egos.

But trucker couldn’t go in US anyway …..
So who cares .
It wasn’t all about Trudeau .
https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.6427514
The United States government is extending a requirement that non-U.S. citizens crossing land or ferry terminals at the U.S.-Mexico and U.S.-Canada borders must be vaccinated against the coronavirus.
The requirements were first adopted in November as part of reopening the United States to land crossings by foreign tourists after the borders had been closed to most visitors since March 2020.
In January, DHS extended vaccination requirements to foreign essential workers such as truck drivers and nurses crossing U.S. land borders.
Anyway it’s over for the good of all .
I thought this was also a bonehead decision. If he had removed the vaccine mandate the Truckers were not going anywhere anyways as the USA was keeping there's . And seizing peoples bank accounts for making donations to a peaceful protest
+1
That seizing money account grab was imo a far more important point ….

What wrong with calling them native ?
What am I missing ?
Is this a Quebec thing? You should never call a First Nations person a “native” in anglophone Canada in 2025, it’s vastly out dated if not overtly racist.
Ok , so why ?
I know about the N word but I never though it was about native but it was about a colour ?
I even used the word native when I’m speaking about Americans having old roots in the U.S. with no problems shrug .
You told us that as he declined in the polls he tried to appeal to the "far left fringe". All of your examples are totally wrong time period, or don't at all come off as "far left fringe". The specific example of capital gains rates was a tax economists thought made the tax code more efficient and equitable, hardly the "far left fringe". I think the Liberals felt they needed to raise some type of revenue to keep at least some relative fiscal constraints in the budget, and chose one of the least painful ones for the average Canadian. You can hate the tax - you can complain that ANY tax increase is by definition left even in a tenure that largely either cut or maintained taxes - but hardly "far left fringe".
Trudeau giving the finger to truckers was due to Trudeau embracing the fringe left that wanted everyone that was not vaccinated to lose their jobs.

were in support of the Emergencies act both in 2022 and still in 2024 - so hardly the "far left fringe" he is appeal to. He was appealing to the majority. So nope this fails as well as an example of him trying to appeal to the far left fringe when he was done in the polls (wrong time period, wrong group). These are class action lawsuits that the federal government just uses as an excuse to hand over money without fighting back. Again with the "natives" bit huh?
Gross.
One can debate the merits here, but as you suggest with your numbers that Trudeau's government did a great job of increasing support for first nations peoples has been a hallmark of his entire tenure. So yet again this is not an example of him appealing to the far left fringe after going down in the polls.
3 failed examples showing far left fringe. Ignored all my examples like the GST cut which are the exact opposite, trying (fecklessly) to appeal to everybody just as the conservatives (fecklessly) did with their proposed christmas GST break. Fail. Fail. Gross. Fail.
Ok , so why ?
I know about the N word but I never though it was about native but it was about a colour ?

I wouldn't say native is anywhere near as bad as the N word, but certainly it has become archaic and outdated. I can't say I've seen indigenous people referred to as "natives" either by indigenous people or in mainstream media in....yikes....ages.
Also note that this is very specifically about the Canadian context - in the US they use Native Americans the way we do First Nations.

Fine but i still dont see how its racist…
Maybe its just another fashion tangent of the far left/woke shrug.
I must say I stop paying attention to them about a lot of things related to identity for a couple years now.
Ok , so why ?
I know about the N word but I never though it was about native but it was about a colour ?
This is wild to me. Not sure if this is a Quebec thing or not, but yeah, it feels to me like it's been a decade or two since that term fell out of favour, although perhaps it's not been that long. By dictionary definition it may be "accurate" but like a few other terms for people, it's been used enough in a pejorative or diminishing fashion that people don't like being referred to that way any longer.
I even used the word native when I’m speaking about Americans having old roots in the U.S. with no problems shrug .
Right, different people are different. In the US, terms like "Native American" or even "American Indian" seem to be acceptable, at least to some. But I have no idea if some nations feel differently about that, just like there might be some Indigenous people in Canada that are fine with "native" - but as a general rule I'd steer well clear of it, especially worded as "the natives".
Something I only learned in the last year, and I felt silly that I didn't know before given some of the work that I do, is the distinction between First Nations and Indigenous people. It might be something you already knew, but I would think there might be others who don't. First Nations does not include the Metis or Inuit, whereas Indigenous does. This distinction is included in the Constitution and thus grants differing legal rights, so maybe I'm the only one who didn't know and we can all have a chuckle at that. :p

Love the white professor telling us how great Trudeau was for indigenous people. The man couldn’t even attend the first national reconciliation day. Some chiefs refused to shake his hand and failed on clean drinking water and all the recommendations on the recommended changes
I never understood why Indian was bad than native than aboriginal . I remember discussing this with my drywall crew in their 50s and his reply I was born an Indian I’ll die an Indian .
It’s like folks being offended by a football team called the Eskimos
