You're forgetting... immigrant woman stands up to abusive spouse, deported because spouse claims retaliatory violence.

The term "spirit animal" is used in works that appropriate Indigenous American culture, as demonstrated by Michael A. Sheyashe in Native Americans in Comic Books: A Critical Study (2013). However, the term itself does not originate from Indigenous American culture. It is an invention of a Scottish anthropologist who has been criticized from using Judeo-Christian vocabulary to describe the practices of Oceanian Indigenous Peoples.
