The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet...i'd be shocked if they lost the election now.
Just shows just how incompetent Conservatives are.
wtf is this a real post from trump???
I'm scrolling news about canada panama greenland claims and this is the first time I'm legit worried by this idiot Trump.
He's so dumb he might actually do something really atrocious here.
I'm curious how MAGA and the right (yes lucia) are seeing this.
I was assured Trump was anti war , anti expansion etc...
Of course it's a real post, I don't promote propaganda I'm only 100% about truth.
We're spending 200 Billion per year on Canada, and we're protecting them militarily. We've been their big brother for a while now and if they get attacked, we're the ones who are gonna protect them so don't worry about Trump trying to take over the world, it's just a business discussion at this point.

Your not spending anything your trading with Canada . Your protecting Canada no matter what as they are part of NATO Yeah they suck on meeting their 2% but your still protecting them and they would go through Alaska first
Problem is he is inheriting Justin’s disaster I’m not sure 4 years is enough to fix everything he has done and the things we still do not know about . I’m sure Justin will be shredding non stop the next few months
Look at him stepping down the right thing to do was implement a temporary PM someone not running .
Will see if all these cabinet ministers running resign their positions
So the winner of the leadership race will be the next PM . It will the first time that non Canadians will determine
We shall see, I don't have faith in any of them...they all have their own agendas.
Harper was left in a great spot by Chretien/Martin and proceeded to start to screw things up for a couple years of a mirage.
I fully expect Pierre to run non stop deficits like Trudeau and Harper
680,000 barrels a day Canada exports to the USA . I will be shocked if Trump puts any tariffs on that
Are we in the US? Notice how in Canada we typically call groups First Nations, Inuit, Metis, etc? Not Native Americans.
Just making stuff up now?

At one point in time all of these words were the correct term for Intellectual disability. Most of the words we use today will eventually join that list. There is a very predictable cycle where discriminated groups get called something and that word becomes taboo because its used discriminately against them and they feel offended by it. Why won't that happen to the current words too? like you said its just language and it keeps evolving
Nobody denies language changes, but let's just say every detail of your post from not realizing what country you are in to telling us that "negroid" was "everyday science" made you sound completely ignorant so your "indigenous will be offensive in 15 years" prediction I'm calling FoS on.
Ignorant will be probably ban soon too because you know , hurting people feeling in anyway is very bad even when trying to speak truth ?
The problem ain’t the words , it’s the concept of preventing hurting people feeling by deforming reality at all cost to be a good strategy .
And there is more and more example of it.
Now it reached the way how we should speak .
I, um, wait, what?
No, as had been pointed out many times, it "reached the way how we should speak" decades, if not centuries, ago. That's how language works, and always has.

Imagine if Uke had just ignored the post and his use of Native or Indian I sometimes think that is the best option .
Sadly in todays society were just not allowed to offend someone

What is your concern - that he might've offended Montreal? Sadly in todays society were just not allowed to offend someone 🙄
I don't know how offensive most indigenous people find the term native, but I would suspect it would have a lot to do with how it was used and in what context. Like, if I'm an old person (as I am) and wasn't sure what I'm supposed to call someone and used "Native Canadian", that might not be a big deal. But using it pejoratively, dismissively, etc. probably gets a different reaction. "The natives" certainly doesn't sound the best these days when there are obvious preferred alternatives, and I don't believe it's so bad to inform people of that. I get that it being uke and the way he delivers it sometimes might not be to your liking, but...see my previous paragraph. 😀
As for Indian, I don't think Montreal used that, but I don't see any good reason any non-Indigenous Canadian would use that term any more unless they're referring to something specific like the Indian Act. We know that many people find it offensive, it's been completely inaccurate from the first time it was ever used because Columbus had no idea where the **** he was, and it can legitimately cause confusion here with over one million actual Indians living in Canada (an ever-increasing number that will one day surpass the Indigenous population). There might be the occasional really old person (like, much older than even me) who just can't seem to get it straight, but for the most part the only time I see/hear it used is when people are just flat out being quite intentionally offensive, racist, hateful, bigoted, whatever you'd like to call it.
I'll just add that as an old white guy, I'm certainly no authority on what other people do or don't find offensive - I'm just relying on my own observations and assumptions, which certainly have flaws.

No my point was sometimes it’s just best to ignore a comment . How many posts did we have on one word . Did we resolve anything ?
I’m like you generally if a word is offensive I stop using it .
Well sure, but how many words have we spent on even more meaningless/silly stuff? :p
Also, it sounds like Montreal did learn a few things, both pro and con to his word selection.

its quite simple really when native is used to describe a person as indigenous and the fact he's indigenous is relevant no one cares. If they just do it to single him out its definitely bad. and thats why that word has become bad
Theres always going to be a word that makes you feel bad when used in certain context. and that word evolves in stages of > its fine > ok your using it poorly chill > nono word > word is completely racist. enter new word
wow i made a mistake! I cant keep up! I know your not used to people admitting mistakes since you have never done it yourself. their are terms tho like Aryan
As glad as I am that you finally got to stage “admitting you were wrong”, next time could you skip all the ignoring, obfuscating, reframing steps that you had to go through first?
you mentioned it 4 times and I ignored you because I was obviously wrong and you had already corrected it what more do you want. What's your problem it was not even a major mistake. You ignored me when I showed data for your mistake last week.
also we still use the word Caucasian instead of white. Negroid is the black equivalent and I have definitely heard people use that term recently so thanks for enlightening me. Its also clear as day populations have different traits but its soo taboo to talk about it. Lets just pretend 70%+ of pro athletes are not from 12% of the population in North America
I, um, wait, what?

Yes the gender stuff .
A human is not a man or a woman .
Etc .
Or like a kid failed at school but we pass him to an higher grade anyway like he actually succeed .
Been long time in Quebec too

The Saskatchewan government will assign all students a 50 per cent mark in their classes, even if they are failing. This includes those in Grade 12.
We can find many other examples ….
It’s getting worst and worst …
Some people thinks it’s fine but personally I think putting your head in the sand like an ostrich isn’t the right way to deal with difficult realities shrug .
Sometimes life gets tough because it’s actually is .
People should actually focus on learning how to deal with it instead of changing entire society to fit a 1% outlier …
A chain is always as strong as its weakest link , so is society ..
Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.
Hard times are ahead , braces yourself all .
Who is we? I can't remember the last time I heard that used. I think maybe I have heard it once or twice in the last several years, but I can't recall when or by whom.'
I'm no expert on this, but I suspect you'd find a few black people who would disagree.
I'm starting to wonder what kind of weird circles you find yourself in. I haven't heard that term used in decades.

Oh, I see, you're off on a very different topic. Never mind then, I'll leave you to it. 😀

It's still used by "race realists" rightwing twitter on purpose to claim that they deny the race-denialism in literature of the last 50-60 years. Ie there are people who think human races exist in a meaningful biological sense, can be labelled and cathegorized properly, have different measurable traits and so on, and they use negroid to describe the large group of races originally from sub-saharian africa, because that was the word used 100-120 years ago (when the scientific consensus was overwelmingly in favor of the existence of human races) for that group.
Usually it's niche debates but occasionally some of those debates get RTed by large rightwing accounts and "normies" get exposed to them.

"I made a mistake but also my gaming buddy say Negroid and really it's just equivalent to caucasian so...."
Surprised at 2 Prominent Liberal cabinet ministers not running for leadership . Maybe they know they do not have a hope in hells chance and waiting 4 years
