***January Brings April Showers***
Cause 2 + 2, always makes a 5.
I was never brave enough to start one of these threads. But now I'm all grown up, and som
That is very disappointing.
On a side note, I saw Depeche Mode sometime in 1986 at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley.
6. Enjoy the Silence
Memories.
It was summer of ‘86. I had just moved to San Francisco to attend UCSF that fall. I remember the night because I had just taken a girl to see Jackson Browne a few days prior and she saw that Depeche Mode was playing that weekend and wanted to go. My big head was not in control so, there I was.
Never did attend UCSF. The Sunday before Memorial Day, I got into a motorcycle accident out on Bodega Highway on my way to the beach. Wearing a tank-top and shorts. I came out on the short end of that one. Ended up back with my parents to heal for a couple of months. Six broken bones. Both legs, both arms, right ankle and my collar bone. I was a mess. I was pissing in a bucket for a month.
I do recall my experience with being given Demerol. Even today, I totally understand how people get hooked on that ****.
In the interval, I somehow decided to go to ASU instead and moved to Arizona that winter. I’ve been here since. I keep meaning to leave but it’s probably too late now.
Sorry for the blog entry.
whatever other people think, i don't mind
always find it interesting to some degree reading polaroids of other peoples memories
curious if you kept riding after that
always wanted to have a bike but also knew the likely result if i did
I do still ride, Red. Despite a second wreck that was even more serious. The first was my fault, way too fast for the conditions. The second, I was hit by a Buick Regal while stopped at a red light.
curious if you ever wore full leathers
I enjoy reading stories like pokeraz shared.
Thanks for sharing my friend!
Thanks for that AZ. Man, I just can't imagine still riding after 2 accidents of that caliber. I guess we just can't help loving what we love. I had a small dirt bike in middle school. I ran over my best friends little brother and broke his leg. Haven't ridden since. Probably the main reason for me is the amount of time I spent from high school to my 30s in either a drug or alcohol induced haze.
Never too late to make the move if AZ isn't working out.
Also thanks for sharing that story. I'm sad it happened, but was interesting.
I started my second freshman year of college at ASU in Fall 87, after partying in Flagstaff/NAU the year before. Good times. Maybe we knew each other?
Didn't ride back then but have a cruiser and an adventure/dual-sport now. Love riding in Az. Maybe we know each other?
I don't remember the exact year, but I recall a bunch of my friends went to the Depression Alamode show out at Compton Terrace during my college years. Epic stories of ****edupedness from that show. 12 packs of beer smuggled in, smoking the wrong end of the pipe, etc.
I had a couple wrecks on my bike and one really scary close call. I was being soooooo careful when the last wreck happened, but I got hit by a truck anyway. Haven't been on a bike since and never will.
there are two kinds of Riders...
Those that go down, and those that will go down
Tomorrow is my first paycheck of the new year. Somehow with approximately $15 in additional deductions, my net pay only dropped $1 due to all of the deductions being pre-tax. I'll take that as a win.
Related, for anybody who remits quarterly estimated tax payments, don't forget to get them in the mail tomorrow.
