DUG and Tarris Reed are transferring at years end. I'm sure this isn't news and pretty obvious, but Trilly Donovan(if you don't know who he is look him up) confirmed in his discord they both have people shopping them around already.

Saw the halftime score of this dismantling at the hands of the Corn and turned it on out of morbid curiosity. Yeah, every bit as bad as the score.

The thing about this team isn't just that they're bad, they're not fun bad. Most bad teams in my experience have something fun about them, or at least something you can root for. High effort. A great shooter. Somebody with style or a guy who can play with zero help. I don't feel anything of the sort with this team. They're horrendous on defense, bad on offense, give wildly inconsistent effort, take stupid shots, you name it.

You know knew it was coming, but still sad to see.

Now who can they go get?

No idea.

Feels like whoever we get needs to be a scheme guy more than a talent acquisition guy.

I just don't see the academic department loosening their rules, so it's going to continue to be an uphill battle to get guys in the portal.

With the admissions problem and being behind on the NIL front I just don't see why any big time coach would ever want to come to Michigan. They all wanna recruit/acquire talent the same way Howard wants to and they all saw what happened to Howard.

This is why I laugh heartily every time I read a candidate list that includes guys like Will Wade. No disrespect to Wade, but that’s him - collect talent and roll out the ball.

I’m not convinced that they’re that far behind on the NIL front any more, other than the baked in disadvantage that they won’t straight up offer big bags of cash to sign. There are always exceptions - they can be outbid a la Dickinson, but that’s true for any team and I think for most players they’ll be competitive.

With the Love and Shannon situations being public you would think anyone coming in would be aware of the admissions issue and the need to account for it when constructing the roster but … shrug. You have to be at least a little narcissistic to be a head coach.

Can’t say that I’m looking forward to the message board bitching if they hire a scheme/development guy and the roster starts getting filled with Gritty McGritsteins who aren’t five stars or instantly playable. But that may well be the route they decide to go.

Don’t think it will be a splash hire unless someone just really wants a big paycheck.

May as well see if the grass is greener elsewhere. No surprise. Don’t think he’ll be the last either.

I was very modestly whelmed by the hire when the news broke, but the more I read about it the more I'm fine with it. I do think that you have to have more of a player development model with guys who are going to stick around for three+ years at Michigan, and I think May gets it. I think he'll have a clearly identifiable way of doing things and get four plus years to prove that it works at the high major level.

I definitely expect better roster construction, though next year's will of course be a mishmash of whatever he can scratch up to field a team. Will any of the FAU guys follow him? Who knows.

Seems like a homerun hire so I'm happy. Need FAU guys for any tournament chance next year. Plz god.

After watching much of the Oakland exhibition and all of the Toledo exhibition, I am encouraged. This isn't going to be a great team, but they will be decent and (perhaps more importantly) they will be fun to watch. Good ball movement, solid execution on offense, good shooters. They'll spread the load in all areas, which is quite a change.

The defense is definitely a work in progress, but the way they shoot the ball they can Iowa their way to a pretty good record.

Average basketball IQ among the players appears to be way, way up.

Looks like the staff can CROOT a little bit too.

Cason looks like a steal

So uh, Wolf+Goldin might just equal final four. Those two together are a load.

I honestly don't think anyone out there is better than us. Felt that way from game 1. This team is special.

They can be out-athleted by a handful of teams, and there is always the possibility of bad 3 point shooting, but in general they're a load. Fun team to watch, it'll be nice if they can keep winning and cement that bid early.

Ugly loss

Ugly loss

Yea it's a bad loss. Really bad. But I'm just not worried. This team is a matchup nightmare for anybody in the country and they're only gonna get better as they develop more team chemistry throughout the year.

If you're looking for a team to bet on for March madness this is the one. You'll get good odds cuz this team is not one of the obvious favorites to win it all and yet this team is as dangerous as anyone.

I like Michigan but not sure I love them. The guards scare me some. Obviously love the Wolf/Goldin pairing though.

Just put $200 to win $9,000 on Michigan to win it all. It's free bro!
