2024 NFL Game Thread - Divisional Round
Saturday
Houston Texans @ Kansas City Chiefs (-8)
Washington Commies @ Detroit Lions (-9)
Sunday
Los Angeles Rams @ Philad
God and his son Jesus are still undefeated at football in 2025. Sick run.
1-3" snow expected in Philly for the game. High temp 36. Winds N 9.
Maybe Rams score first and get the Philly fans to throw snowballs at their team?
That's about the only scenario I can think of for snow helping Stafford and co.
more than one did
the chefs were likely to win, but we'll never really know
👍
not quite there yet. mahomie, JOE and others clearly in front of him
that said, he'll have the opp to make a SB before joshua or LJack have
i'll pour out a 40 oz. for ya Tuma
that was brutal
Trusting Goff was the big mistake tonight, that is getting into a scoring battle.
Running game was on fire for them, and taking time off the clock, moving the chains, and saving their D was the only chance DET had tonight.
counterpoint: your passing infrastructure produced the league's second best ANY/A (behind only LJack and BAL)

on a hybrid grass field like the Linc, snow will obv assist offenses bc of the footing issues (offensive players know when and where they will cut, defenders don't)
so, w the wind forecasted not to be significantly bad, look for the conditions to generally assist LAR and their passing game
LAR is going into the game w the better QB and conditions are such that their passing game should have a leg up over a tough PHI D
let's see what the foosball gods have in store for us later today!
I'm not sure where this narrative started that the Rams have some huge advantage at QB today or that Stafford is somehow still a top QB.
EPA/DB
Hurts - 0.17
Stafford - 0.12
Passer Rating

Sure, but how many teams did they play reg season that could beat them at that game? Really only one, BUF, and they lost.
The difference in that game? DET had 48 rushing yards for the game. Last night, DET had 176 rushing yards in the first half!
I get it, they were trying to get as many reps as possible into Goff to build confidence that he could compete with the big boys when it mattered. And for the most part it worked: he was making many more big throws this year than previous.
But that is no reason to ignore the rest of the offense when the running game was en fuego. And a simple analysis of WAS' game against TB would show that keep away was the best strategy against Daniels. And guess what: DET had it, they were capable of doing that. But they simply asked too much of Goff. They wanted to win a high scoring game when it was not in their best interest to do so.
Football is a zero sum game. You should do what the opposing team does not want you to do, and vice versa. WAS was quite comfortable playing a high scoring match. DET fell into the trap and got caught playing checkers, not chess.

I hope you're right, but the game Rams played with conditions most similar was wk 16, 23 degrees wind 8. Rams scored 6 points thru 3 qtrs and ended up winning 19-9 as a 3 pt favorite against the Jets.

don't play coy w me newguy
allow all 32 HCs to blind vote for which QB they want to have under center in a must win playoff game
you know which QB gets the most votes

yes, similar temp and wind
no precipitation and a different playing surface (FieldTurf Core, a synthetic turf)
edit: or maybe the game did have precip, don't remember
fair points tho. looking forward to the game
The Jets were 5-12?
Most of the forum thinks 80% of NFL HCs are idiots (and I think Sirianni is)
I don't know what's going on.
I actually don't know if snow will be an issue or not. I don't expect a lot of it, but the 1" we got earlier in the week was slippery. Not sure what temps will be, but they will be dropping within the next day.
I predict the team with more possession time will win the Rams game.
Obv not going out on a limb as time of possession is correlated to winning, but this is how Eagles are constructed.
In their reg season game PHI won time of possession 34:26. In the first half PHI had a 19:11 time advantage, and had scoring drives of 7, 3, and 5 minutes. They basically sealed the game with a 6 minute FG drive in the 4th qtr to go up 16.
Looking at the #s Stafford had a decent game. 24 of 36 for 243 yards, 2 TDs and no INTs. But a lot of that was in garbage time, and he was sacked 5 times.
So how does PHI win?
-balance run/pass to keep pressure off Hurts throws;
-get to Stafford and kill Rams' drives.
How do Rams win?
-protect Stafford with quick throws and effective running game to move the chains and tire PHI D line;
-force Hurts to make big plays as that is PHI's weakest link in the chain.
I don't think this is a slam dunk for the eagles, but if we are talking about slippery conditions and the defense having a disadvantage, then the eagles OL is going to crush this game.
You are absolutely correct. If Rams don't slow down Saquon the game is basically over.
Eagles up to -7 in many shops.
Total back up to 43 when it got as low as 41.5 yesterday. But still below midweek 44.
It just started snowing.
EDIT: And it's going to be a heavy snow if it persists.
