Really, they don't even need to reduce level lengths. Getting rid of the repeat 100BB level and reducing SS to 25k should at least get you into the money on Day 1.

Everyone wants good structures myself included but reaching the money 3 hours into Day 2, come on.

FYI was just looking at bravo and they posted details on the January tournament. Like @billybizzle said shorter levels now and into the money on Day 1.

Does Turning Stone offer 2/4 or 3/6 limit?

Not usually.

You’ll find one 3/6 limit table on most weekend days, sometimes on Friday days too, but not usually during the week. No 2/4 running at any time.

The 1/2 NL is a solid entry game at TS in place of 3/6 Limit because they only allow a max buy-in of $200.

If limit is your game, you’ll find the most 3/6 Tables on the Sundays for which the poker room does the BBJ rolldown - keep an eye on Bravo you’ll see it posted in the room notes with at least 5 days notice for which Sunday it is going to be - you’ll get at least 3 tables of 3/6 on those days.

Outside of TS control but for the WSOP events in March, the cheapest buyins are $400 while last year they were $300. How come?

Actually, this year is almost identical to last year. In 2024 the only $300 tourneys were the two Senior and the one Ladies tournament. This year only the Ladies is $300. $400 is pretty standard for many of the stops, but I think it's dependent on location. I played in Indiana last Spring and they had some $250 buy-in tourneys. The turnout they get there was nowhere near the numbers they get at TS.

For the WSOP events next month, can I pay for my entry fee with a debit card? Would there be a fee associated with that? I know credit cards would treat it as a cash advance and ding me pretty hard.

You can use a debit or credit card with no fees. A credit card transaction is not treated as a cash advance, just a regular purchase.

I just saw a vlogger on Twitter say that they will be banning backpacks at Turning Stone during the WSOP circuits.

Anybody know if this is just for the poker room and not for tournaments in the event center? Thanks

I just spoke with someone in the TS poker room and he said that backpacks WILL be allowed in the Event Center during the WSOPC.

They are not allowed in the poker room or on the casino floor.

Didn't even know Frank was no longer running the room. Did he retire or something? How long ago did he leave?

Update: They are now charging a 3% fee to use a credit card for a tournament buy-in. This is new this year.

Debit card also charges the same 3% fee.

Some great news coming out of the TS poker room as of today, September 1:

Max buy-in for 1/2NL has been increased from $200 to $300, allowing us some more chip utility in the game.

Wonderful to see this change, excited for even better action in the room!

More news quietly coming out of the TS Poker room as of last week:

Pot minimum to be bonus eligible for high hands, bad beats, and promotions is now $20, up from the previous $13.

No other information on changes as to when the first and second dollars are raked from the pot for promos.

For anyone who is planning to play in the WSOP Circuit at Turning Stone in March, Turning Stone's Bravo page indicated that in order to play in any event being run by the WSOP inside of the TS Events Center (ring events, nightly deep-stacks, daily survivor turbos, and satellites), players must BOTH sign a pen-and-paper waiver (as they have in prior years) AND download the WSOP+ app on your smartphone.

I'm not exactly sure how they are going to enforce the latter rule, but it seems as if they want everyone to do this, so be prepared for this extra step before registering for your first tournament/satellite. I know the WSOP app can be used to pay for buy-ins, but obviously you can still use cash/card.

This does not impact cash game play in the poker room, though as has been customary for them during WSOP, the Turning Stone poker room will not take advance call-ins for live games while WSOP is going on - you must be in the poker room waiting to be called for your seat in order to sit in a live cash game.

Hey guys, i'll be heading to turning stone for the WSOP circuit even in a couple weeks. What can I expect from the cash game tables? I'm an OK player - should I play 1/3 or 2/5?

At Turning Stone, 1/2 is the low stakes NL game with a $300 max buy-in. Runs like a standard game, I recommend that as your entry point. If you chip up, then check these:

They run a 1/3 BBS (buy to the biggest stack) - If you've never played this before, you can buy in for either 300/400 if the table is starting, or at any point including sitting down mid-game, you can match the biggest stack on the table - this game runs like a DEEP 2/5 game and honestly it runs more often than 2/5 at Turning Stone - I've seen MONSTER stacks on this game way bigger than a 2/5 game normally sees.

You might see 2/5 with a 1000 or 1500 max buy-in during the WSOP as well, along with 5/10 NL, 2/2 PLO, and 5/5 PLO (those three are time raked). All NL games are 9-handed.

There will be LONG lines to play cash game from 3/11-3/24, and no call-ins/bravo check-ins - you must be physically in the room waiting for your seat to be called, and they will give you about 30 seconds to claim it before going to the next player; for most of WSOP, 20-30 of the 32 tables in the room will be in use from 9AM-1AM. It will be chaotic, but their team is amazing at handling the chaos, especially if you show good manners and patience.

High hands will be available for either $200 or $300 per half hour from 10AM-9PM during WSOP. Must use both hole cards, must have $20 in the pot, showdown not required. There won't be much of a bad beat jackpot during WSOP because they are doing a $25, 000 roll-down on March 8th and I expect it will hit between 3/8-3/10.

Keep in mind that because you only have to be 18 to play at Turning Stone, drinks are not free and must be purchased (unless you're a high roller outside the poker room), but they are decently cheap they do not gouge you on alcohol prices there.

If you've never been before, it's easily my favorite poker room - well lit, warm and inviting, wonderful staff, clean, and well managed. If you're on the casino floor, walk past the cage and into Casino Blu (smoking area) and make an immediate left to access the poker room. From the other side, walk past Emerald Diner, Opal's, and the food court, towards Bingo, and you'll see it on the right side.

Thinking about coming Monday the 23rd for the closer. How long is the walk from the event center to the food court, also what time are these one day 400$ tournys ending? Huge turnouts im sure. One of the circuit dealers in Baltimore said its comparable to Cherokee.

Food court is a few minute walk, but right in the event center they do sell some basic food (hot dogs, sandwiches, etc).

On occasion, a single day event has been suspended and resumed the next day but it is rare. I'd put the over/under at 1 for it happening this year.
