I posted the complete video with the minute before he did it and the minute after. If you look at it in that perspective, instead of all these still photos and memes of it being taken out of context, that's exactly what it looked like he was doing, thanking the crowd with love from the bottom of his heart (while he said "my heart goes out to you" or something to that effect).

Why would he claim it was an accident? He did it intentionally to thank the voters in celebration of Trump's inauguration. He's not gonna say "I'm sorry that I did it" if he didn't do it (the "nazi salute") nor would he apologize for other people's assumptions (like what Seinfeld said about what happens to people when they "ASSuME").

In response to Musk doing the nazi salute on stage, most of reddit has banned links to Twitter (aka x.com) from being posted to their individual subreddits. It's been fun reading the comment threads and seeing the almost universal support for distancing themselves from Elon Musk, who the vast majority saw and understood what he did on that stage.
Also, neo-nazis LOVE that Musk gave them their bat signal publicly.
