Downswing in a 7-8 hour session
In the last month and a half , I started playing online poker again after a long break, I played for a long time , been playing PLO 25 , multitabling always around 3-5 tables.
I managed to hit bad beat jackpot at ggpoker to start losing really fast right after.
Without taking the jackpot in consideration, I lost 14 buy ins during this session.
I just want to know, is it absolutely standard in the crazy game of plo to lose 14 buy in a session like I described and falls in the category : you better get use to it.
Or it's considered a really bad unlucky session / there might be something wrong with your game , no way you should lose that much.
thank you

have you had winning sessions? I sometimes have losing sessions where I lose 8 to 10 buyins, but also have winning sessions winning similar amount of buyins... Kind of hard to tell from one session, it's a big loss for sure, but you would need to play more sessions to know for sure whether this was an outlier or you are actually a losing player right now.

Thanks for the reply .Yes, after a month and half, not playing everyday and taking time off, I'm up around 750$ . Played the most on GG but stars as well and lottoquΓ©bec site in canada. GG is the most swingy to me by far. I would consider myself to be very tigh when I don't get angry after many coolers. During my downfall , I lost big pots with aces multiple times against regulars that barely play any hands that decide to put half their stack going to the flop with aq104 or 10776 to hit a pair and hit miracle after to a point of being really suspicious. Lost to set vs set agains player that play every hand and a bunch of all ins where I was with 42 to 59% chance of winning going all in preflop or once all in on the flop. I don't use any solver, tracker , software , nothing.
I'm just wondering if it's worth the time and energy and the stress and anger at times that goes with it.
I have a question in terms of potential winnings. A supposed good player that play around 4 hours a day on average not trying to grind with good table selection , 5 days a week all years long. Taking into account the variance, have a normal run, how much can he expect to make during the year (rough estimate)?
thanks.
I play on Pokerrrr2 in a game where I know the host well, and I still think these apps are rigged in some way. I think with Pokerrrr2, you need to learn to play the app at lower stakes (.25/.50 or lower). Good play rarely is rewarded at the lower stakes. Chasing, gii bad, etc., is rewarded way too often. It does seem that good play gets rewarded at higher stakes because there isn't as much bad play at those stakes if that make sense? The players are better, buy in deeper, don't chase 3 outers.
I play many hours (5-10) almost every day -- have been doing so for years -- so I have some idea of what I'm talking about. I'd quit the low stakes if I could find a club I trusted that offered games during the day.
FWIW, I'll have a winning week, then I won't win a hand for two weeks, so losing 14 buy ins is nothing.

Thank you for the answer , I feel a bit better about my lost.
The fact it was in a one day session. right after hitting a jackpot to what it sure feels like they wanted take as much money as possible out of my winnings make it feels worst.
I made another post asking about RNG and how it works etc. We all love poker, we all hope we play in a safe environnement, but nodoby knows for sure and on the other side , appart from hand history of how awful we can run at times we have no official proof to say it's rigged either. For sure at higher stakes you won't see as many discusting things happening because most players are much more discipline and tigher in their hand selection, but at smaller stakes the best hand should win from time to time as well lol. We've all felt like this multiple times if someone played long enough , that discusting feeling that you will never win a key pot again in your life. You start to think folding weak aces preflop is a good idea.
For live game , the only worthy and safe place to go for me is the montreal casino, it's 2h30 of driving from my home. If it was closer I would only play there when I feel like gambling.
Here is an interesting 2+2 thread:
Ask me anything about poker apps

Have you played on ClubGG before? I run a club myself, but to be quite honest I do think although with all the "Licensing, Testing, etc" I feel there's some slight action rigging to a certain degree.
I would advise against playing on sites like GG Poker, as the rake is massive. GG Poker has a history of trying to deceive its players in various ways, meaning you are likely paying much more than you expectβand it's intentional. Instead, try to find a site that offers deposit bonuses, typically provided through high rakeback.

I agree , GG poker rake is discusting , I'm platinum fish and for all the crazy pots and number of hands in general I've been a part of since the start of the week , I only generated 4.76$ in rake who will be given to me on monday wich is insane. I tried that place as a returning player because I never played there before and the traffic is great but that's it. You pay a ton of rake just to be able to take part in their bingo tournament of ggcare and such. I cashed out everything now. I was surprised when returning to poker stars, how low the number of player was.
Whate poker site (if there is any) , would you consider the best for plo players?

I'm a little bit out of touch on where to find the best games,
gives you a break down. While the games are clearly beatable for a crusher, its a huge handicap to have. If you toy around with the site, you'll notice that the higher you go the lower the rake becomes and at that point it might be more relevant to look for trafic instead of effective rake when climbing up the stakes.I'm a little bit out of touch on where to find the best games,

Didn't expect that at all
I have never played GG Poker -- only Pokerrrr2. I know the hosts, and the rake is 10% up to $5.50 in one club and up to only $4 in the other, which is the higher stakes game. I assumed the hosts could set the rake? In the lower stakes club (where people are constantly hitting 1 to 3 outers) they give bonuses (small) for bad beats, high hands, etc. They also offer a $400 freeroll every week for the regulars.
Who knows -- maybe the lower stakes seems rigged because they play so bad -- limp/calling everything, chasing gutshots, etc. They can buy in for $20, so they just keep reloading until they win or can't rebuy again.
