Why are people posting about snow in the US South in a climate change thread .... because events like these are caused by climate change.
1) The fastest warming region in the world is the Arctic.
2) The Arctic is warming faster because it is losing the most albedo (whiteness).
3) The warming of the Arctic is reducing the temperature contrast between polar latitudes and mid-latitudes.
4) The power of the Jet Stream (mid latitude air circulation) or Ferrel Cell is a function of the temperature contrast. The Jet Stream is weakening due to Arctic warming.
5) A weakening jet stream has more amplitude in the waves (Rossby Waves) causing more transfer of polar air masses to the south and equatorial air masses to the North.

The question is, if a couple countries on our planet stop using gas engines, will it reverse or stop "climate change"? And is there any concrete evidence of this (such as cow farts also affect climate change) or is it just a conspiracy theory? The fossil industry has the deepest pockets on Earth to fund research to disprove it. The CEO of Exxon has zero incentive to falsely acknowledge the threat of climate change.
CO2 in moderation is necessary for a survivable planet. Zero CO2 would yield a planet with no liquid water. The oceans would be frozen.
For the duration of human history until a century ago, the CO2 range was 160 to 280 parts per million. The temperature range on Earth was 6C lower at 160 ppm than 280 ppm.
In the last century, CO2 has risen to 427 ppm and including other greenhouse gases like methane, the CO2 equivalent is about 525 ppm.
We are unleashing a kraken. In the last 4 months, we've had 2 disasters of $250 billion +. Hurricane Helene and the LA Wildfires. The private property insurance market is breaking and state governments are trying to hold it together with state run socialist agencies.
The ocean is an amazing buffer. Over 90% of the incremental heat has been stored in the ocean. But the buffering capacity is being lost. Earth's carbon sinks on land and in the ocean are losing their ability to store carbon.
There is nothing even remotely close in the paleoclimate record of the atmosphere being transformed this rapidly.
This is easily the stupidest thing in human history. We have really been lulled into a false sense of security by 8,000 years of remarkably stable weather and sea levels which have been incredibly stable. In the 12,000 years prior to that, sea levels increased 400 feet.
