British Politics

Been on holiday for a few weeks, surprised to find no general discussion of British politics so though I'd kick one off.

Tory leadership contest is quickly turning into farce. Trump has backed Boris, which should be reason enough for anyone with half a brain to exclude him.

Of the other candidates Rory Stewart looks the best of the outsiders. Surprised to see Cleverly and Javid not further up the betting, but not sure the Tory membership are ready for a brown PM.

Regarding the LD leadership contest, Jo Swinson is miles ahead of any other candidate (and indeed any of the Tory lot). Should be a shoe in.

Finally, it's Groundhog Day in Labour - the more serious the anti-Semitism claims get, the more Corbyn's cronies write their own obituary by blaming it on outlandish conspiracy theories - this week, it's apparently the Jewish Embassy's fault...

I don't agree with false equivalences.

worth a look

Interesting comments about the left and how they have flubbed it.

The left lost ages ago. The thriumph of thatcherism is reaching it's death throws. Too many have confused calling people names with left wing arguments/polivies on the NHS, Housing, inequality etc etc etc etc etc

Complaining about the likes of musk running things is ridiculous. We continue to chose to allow the increasingly mega rich and powerful to own everything. Complaining about them isn't going to help.

direct action is increasingly the only course left, feels like. Or just waiting for it to all blow over.

I suppose we could try developing some serious policies, argue for them and try to win elections.

Direct action without any vision or plan for what we want is like trying to slow down the wind by pissing into it.

Still, if enough people piss into it the wind will slow down. Urine's pretty heavy, right?

Things aren't going too well for Krazi Kemi

At the moment she looks like a case of promotion beyond her level of competence and is failing to shine, but none of the other candidates was much good and it's not as if Labour is doing a stellar turn either.

Far too early to judge Badenoch given the mess she inherited. Hague was a disaster as opposition leader, but it turned out he was a more than competent politician.

Just wish to say props to Britain for putting a certain monster away for at least the next 52 years and further sending the sentence for investigation that it might be unduly lenient, Over my way the little scrote would have probably been out in 20.

The message from this is that school bullying is very bad and should be stamped out, and also that the bullying of kids far along the autism spectrum with a family history of being the victims of the worst genocide since WW2 is fairly likely to result in some bad outcomes if the kid is excluded from school and rarely seen outside their bedroom.

Lol. I have you on ig but made the mistake of viewing your post and thanks for confirming why you're on ig, posting such bollocks. Tell that to those kids' parents and see how long you last. Lots of people are bullied but don't murder children. I'd expect chez to come out with such pap but actually thought you were better than that. Lots of Rwandans survived the actual genocide and didn't become triple murderers. One of those kids was stabbed 122 times, another 117. He then said in court that he was glad those kids were dead. That little toerag should never see the light of day again, regardless of your coddling. Anyway back on ig you go.

Thank you very much.

I certainly think prevention of awful murders is a higher priority than whether life with a minimum of 52 year is too short

Of course that's right and CV's posts are the same hateful and myopic BS that sees him supporting genocides.

I remember your simpering for Shamima ages ago, hence my mentioning you. Define prevention- authorities doing their jobs and heeding red flags, or stopping bullying, which of course is the real reason for Axel's child murders?

No, there's just something wrong with him, as local mental health services recognised. That's why no one else of comparable background -- such as his parents, who actually lived through the Rwanda genocide, or anyone who has been bullied at school, which is probably most people -- has ever gone on a similar sadistic murder spree against little girls.

Well if you read the article you’d know there was nothing wrong with him until about the age of 13 which suggests to me that autism plus finding out about his parents life in Rwanda might have triggered the violent reaction to the bullying he made complaints about, a reaction that led to him being excluded from school to his bedroom to read obsessively about genocides, apparently.

Monsters tend to be made by events rather than biology, with obvious exceptions.

I do like the young ones.

I feel were getting close to godwins law now

Do we have annual awards for the worst posts on 2+2? If so, we have a slam dunk for 2025.

Poor old Elrazor is still unable to get over having the cornerstone of his philosophy "immigrants are criminals" pulled apart in front of him.
