The "LOLCANADA" thread...again

So what's new?

I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet...i'd be shocked if they lost the election now.

Just shows just how incompetent Conservatives are.

The bolded is just a garbled sentence, I have no idea what you are trying to say. Allowing trans and non-binary people to choose X is a totally reasonable, minor, kind, respectful accommodation to make. So sad that your leader can't even pretend to have a serious conversation and just does this sad "tell me another gender gimmick" as if he doesn't know very well that people are using this option right now. It is of course any individual person's choice, if they are going to travel to a country

Of all the problems and things to argue over you are bitching about not being able to choose X on a passport for the 124 people that would actually do that or get upset that they couldn't.

Totally agree, but remember, it is YOUR TEAM passing all the anti-trans laws in Canada and the US and YOUR TEAM that just made the big executive order denying the existence of trans people in the US. So of course it is reasonable that a reporter would ask YOUR TEAM whether such a thing would come to canada and really really embarrassing that YOUR TEAM did that faux nonsense where he pretended he didn't know what was being talked about. So absolutely, if your position is we should focus on bigger issues I'd agree but maybe YOUR TEAM should shut. the. ****. up. about. it.

I really hope you are just misinformed because of your bubble with the bold.

What trump did with his EO is denying NON BINARY exists as a gender (or any other recently invented gender).

Trump EO ABSOLUTELY does not deny there are biological men who feel they are women and biological women who feel they are men (ie, trans people).

None of the laws passed provincially are anti trans laws as you so call them. They are parental rights and child protection laws . You are correct a reporter could ask the question about two genders but than should also be able to answer Pierre's question of what other genders there are. Science tells us there are two genders and we keep getting told trust the science when it comes to climate change and covid .

I guarantee our team would not bring it up if your team which owns most of the media stopped asking about it

Funny how your teams new leader's Motto is Axe The Tax

You can rebrand the anti-trans laws as much as you like, but you can't pull the shifty move of wondering why anyone would ever argue over the 124 people it allegedly affects. Like that's YOUR TEAM in both countries pull this anti-trans crap not just in rhetoric but in actual laws and executive orders then complain and whine when the "liberal media" asks them basic questions about it.

And **** off with this BS that "science" somehow is on your side.

Simple question uke .

Until recently , there was no confusion about the definition of gender was .
It was based on sex .

Now , this new gender theory that came out from nowhere and say gender shouldn’t be based on sex between man or female but on a “intellectual/spiritual” idea or w.e you want to call it , is here .
Fine .
Even tho no one can define what a woman is when you take sex out of the picture .

So would you agree if on the passport , instead of using gender as an identification process , government would use the physical sex part instead of the mental gender part ?
There should not be a problem then right ?
Like they could use colour of eyes, skin colour, height , etc ?
Would that be ok for you ?

Not true. Throughout history and cultures there have been rich traditions of people who identify in their society in ways that aren't entirely based on sexual dimorphism. For example, in indigenous cultures two-spirit people is a cultural tradition quite separate from say modern, western trans identities.

No. This style of argument (akin to the old "if gay people marry, what's next? Can you marry your horse?") which sort of imagines that now EVERY physical characteristic is totally up for changing just seems really silly to me. The simple reality - rightly or wrongly - is that some small percentage of people in our society seem to identify differently from their physical sex. I don't see why this is upsetting to anybody. Who cares? There doesn't seem to be a similarly deeply felt and common if small phenomenon where humans want to "identity" as a different eye colour as an important part of their identity. Just because you can structure an argument as a slippery slope doesn't mean it works.

It's ok if some people are a little different from you and I.

Yeah , they believe in a rain god and the like and some even did human sacrifices to appease the gods to bring the rain again for agriculture needs .
Doesn’t t mean they were right .

And they didn’t need much identification purpose either which we have today …

Moving on to the core of the argument .
So you are against identification by physical sex (which is hard to counterfeit) .
Ok .
Which other physical attribute for you would be acceptable ?
Colour of skin ? Eye colour ? What ?

So we have a liberal leadership race and the two front running candidates have no policies other than Chrysta Freelands Axe The Tax and No Capital Gains increase . Sadly her not implementing the second policy means children will starve and we’re going to have a lot of pregnant 17 year girls and boys as they will not be able to afford birth control .
Carney has no policies.

You can mock the beliefs of other people if you wish, but personally I'm ok to let other people be different from me and that's ok. It's fine. I don't have to feel the way they do to still be respectful towards them.

When the government of Canada is vetting someone for a passport I don't think their gender is needed to identify them. You can say "physical sex" but it isn't like we are displaying our genitals most places we show an ID, so it is completely impractical. We don't list skin colour on IDs. We do list eye colour on drivers licenses although some people wear coloured contacts, but the whole structure of the argument that by allowing people to choose their gender (since many people feel their gender is different from their biological sex) we must magically allow any other physical characteristic to be chosen is a slippery slope that doesn't make sense.

Why is doing a few minor things to support trans people bad in your eyes?

Buddy, you are far to chronically in the right wing talking point echo chamber. Like you don't have to repeat every "funny" talking point you see here ujncritically. I've already seen them.

Its not and no one really cares if someone wants to put a X on their passport. The problem is you push it to far and things like this happen

That's anti-trans.

Don't worry about the tarrifs everyone. Liberals have. Pandemic level relief package ready to be rolled out in March!

A lot of you anti-trans zealots clearly DO care about such things with, for instance, signing day 1 executive orders or, uh, refusing to answer basic questions about it honestly on national television. And it is really sad to see how isolated cases of violence are weaponized against the trans community. Some people are sick, and the police seem to have stopped them. Good. Zero people support that. But it shouldn't be weaponized against the trans community in the same way that when a cis man commits a sexual assault it isn't held against the entire community.

It's not being weaponized you clown. Well it is, but not in the way you think it is.

I really look forward to left getting beat so bad in the next 2-3 years that they find new stupid things to align their parties with so we can stop arguing about trans issues, climate change and if the carbon tax is revenue neutral or not. It's become boring.

Don’t strawman me .
I don’t mock their beliefs , I’m saying government shouldn’t be at the mercy of people beliefs , especially in identification protocol .
You know , I’m a bad secular man and I approve the bill 21 .
Because I don’t care about other beliefs but I do care when they impose them on us and the government when they shouldn’t .

Returning to the argument….
Yes I didn’t say gender I said sex .
Why ?
Try to counterfeit your sex if the need to really ID you is necessary (drug imports, criminals escaping justice , terrorist , W.e the f …😉 .
So eyes colour , its easy to get rid of lense so what else ?
Again I’m asking you , what physical attributes is needed for ID ?
Only eyes colours ?
Man I’m not sure your borders would be very secure ….

You see where I’m getting at ?
U might think (knowing how left you are) that border security and stuff like that are almost useless but they aren’t .
And by not putting a specific sex on ID aka I’m X, it’s total garbage and doesn’t help at all on what identification purpose actually are ….

I would never put any beliefs of people above government basic ID protocol for security reason and other stuff (ID to gain social services to prevent fraud , or pay tax , etc.) .
I’m secularists , I’m dumb like that .
Outside government requirement , I don’t freakn care w.e they do on their on time and dime …

It's always hilarious that YOUR TEAM comes in and on day 1 goes for a stupid culture war executive order and then you try and blame the left for arguing about trans issues.

But it is sad - genuinely tragic - that you then go comma climate change. Like if you want to say trans issues are irrelevant well sure, there are not very many trans people, the issues are all pretty minor aspects of being respectful and kind, if you don't want that to be a top 10 or top 100 political issue I agree and take that up with YOUR TEAM. But climate change is a devastating effect on our environment and our societies that is only going to get progressively worse and worse as time goes on. To juxtapose these two is inept. Climate change isn't an issue that goes away because the left loses some elections.

Yet the reality is if Pierre Polivierre does nothing it will have the same impact as whatever Justin does . I’d say new candidates scrapping current policies just to win is disgusting if they believe what they preached to us the last 9 years

When you get a passport, nobody checks your genitals, so no, sex isn't used here. When you are vetted for a passport there is no meaningful difference in how you are identified whether or not you list M or F or X on the passport application form. It's a complete non-issue when someone has your name and passport number and photograph etc whether they also can cut down the 50% of the population based on M or F or X.

Since it makes no meaningful difference, it is 100% fine to just to the kind, respectful thing and allow people who identify differently from their sex to list their gender on these documents. It hurts nobody.

Poilievre promising nothing: not disgusting
Liberals promising to do something, just not the current plan: disgusting

Huh.

I think this is exactly where we are headed: https://www.thetyee.ca/Analysis/2025/01/...

Polls showing the Liberals are recovering, Carney might not have enough time to win this election but if he holds the Conservatives to a minority I think Poilievre will be gone in a year or two
