I've been spending time on things outside of poker last few days but did get in a Sunday session firing the venoms and some cash. I'm roughly 40k from peak after a small recovery.. 2nd 3rd of Jan was mostly 60k straight down so am happy to win some back. I was inches away from a decent day 2 stack but took a very thin spot that was -ev given icm 4 off the money in the venom plo given the mystery bounty format of day 2. In retrospect I wouldn't have deviated like I did but my logic at the time seemed sound.
Class going well and progress with girlfriend.. have been cofounder shopping on the ycombinator founder match platform. Couple irons in the fire. Life is good!
I lost 50k live last session mostly from quads
I've got day 2 of the venom next Monday and have been spending a decent amount of time studying mtts. Feeling really good about cards this year despite a 90k pullback from peak.
I'm doing an alright job of life at the moment in terms of balance, self care, my relationship etc. I could definitely be doing better although I've found that in my life I typically have sprints and siestas not just for productivity but largely seasons in life broadly and I feel myself putting great effort into several important categories of life so I won't beat myself up over falling short in small ways in other areas. I'm flawed and will never execute perfectly day to day so I make peace with that. I'm proud of the person I'm bringing to my mental and personal life buckets each day.
Well I just had a hell of a day. 25/50 online has always been the stake that I only play a few hands of because it's the lowest stake that the top top players play. I battled for hours today and won 27k across mostly 10/20 and 25/50 while running below EV. This was kind of like taking a weight off my shoulders of some mental block that these stakes were off limits to me. After playing bigger live over the past two years and coming back to play with these guys online I felt very comfortable with the $$ and got to execute my strategy without (much) stress. I'm proud of what I just did. The 2k reg that holds the lobby and I think is really truly solid quit me after I owned him in a few hands.
Highlight of my day was definitely this hand:

Cashing out a 575BB stack or something like that at 25/50 is a great feeling. I think that's the biggest stack I've had at that stake before, which is funny considering I've played a number of six figure pots live. Today was a day for growth as a player. Feels great
How was the session Vs veni?
Lost a good chunk in 4c but did ok in 5c.
I've been putting in decent volume battling since my last update. Have had some massive pots live not go my way. I think of all my (10?) PLO pots between 25k and 65k this past month I have won two of them. I'm proud of how I've played and am continuing to put in lots of work studying 4c MTT and 5c cash. I'm 105k from peak (500k) at the moment and spirits are pretty good.
I was one 53/47 away from a +80k day last time I played live. RIP
Booked a small win live after losing 25k and 40k allins as favorites each time. When I start winning these hands it’s going to be bloody
I'm thinking about making a change that might sound small but it's actually very large. When I'm in hands live and I am postflop I dial in on the cards in the middle and maintain a consistency that is solid from flop->end of river. I am looking with a relaxed expression across the cards in a randomized fashion that I feel (keeping in mind my facial expression and the tension in my muscles) isn't giving away anything about the quality of my holdings. I do this alongside having my feet planted and a good body posture. There's an intangible present when you are facing a reg who is grounded and is dialed in for every hand. That's what I strive to accomplish. When I've been watching the triton regs, they actually have a casual, cavalier attitude towards their body posture. It is the complete opposite of what I have been trained // educated // taught to do from footage. They approach the game with little regard for how casually they are viewing the turn card. This has a serious impact on ONE specific aspect of the game -- reads on your opponent.
I'm thinking about making a change in my process for hands that I have maintained for thousands of hours live. I'm thinking about striving to be more chill. This might sound mundane but when you have bluff shoved for 250bb on the river, having a "congruent" body posture leading up to your bluff is something that has plagued me for my entire time playing this game. I'm going to try and have a more relaxed attitude to the game with my body language such that I don't have to be staring at the middle cards and I won't miss out on reads on my opponents that I was previously relying on peripheral vision for. This might sound small but I've spent so much time being "readless" in pots worth cars or cheap houses that I have lost the way in being relaxed about this game. I'm going to set out to try and relax my posture and balance my live tells so that I don't have to be 'dialed in' anymore.
That aside, I had two "embarassing" or cooler spots live that caused some players to think I'm a spot. I went home and played some HU against Sanitas (because i'm a ****ing fish) and came up on the day. I don't really know what I'm doing with this game. I have an extremely clear path to making 5 figures from a business venture that I'm following up on and an idea cooking that I think might be the next business I build. But in the meantime I'm going to keep showing up and I'm going to try and **** up the best in the businesss.
-93k from peak. GG GL
