The "LOLCANADA" thread...again

So what's new?

I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet...i'd be shocked if they lost the election now.

Just shows just how incompetent Conservatives are.

When you get a passport, nobody checks your genitals, so no, sex isn't used here. When you are vetted for a passport there is no meaningful difference in how you are identified whether or not you list M or F or X on the passport application form. It's a complete non-issue when someone has your name and passport number and photograph etc whether they also can cut down the 50% of the population based on M or F or X.

Since it makes no meaningful difference, it is 100% fine to just to the kind, resp

It’s a complete non issue until it does !
And when It says men on my passport and they look at me , it doesn’t take a phd to realize oh yeah it’s a man .
99% of people saying they are a man or female are actually what they appear to be …

There is a reason they are so strict with the picture they ask to put on your passport .

Anyway u try so much to not adress the issue at hands .
We need physical attribute that aren’t easily counterfeited and are difficult to erase .
Finger print, eye colour and skin colour , genitals , are usual physical attribute to go by .
sorry to say but to me some people will have to get their heads around that what they think in their heads arent reliable enough for the outside world to identify them when the needs arrive .

so they can be w.e they want but the government actually need a uniform pattern to adhere to as well …
And to be insult because in your mind your not what your physical says what you are , well I’m sad but it doesn’t change much of anything .
The government need to identify what it sees, not what you think !

Poilievre promising nothing: not disgusting
Liberals promising to do something, just not the current plan: disgusting

Huh.

Lets see Axe the Tax, NO GST on new homes, Affordability, crime . Its early in the liberal leadership race will see if they have a climate policy you so dearly want

by uke_master k

I think this is exactly where we are headed: https://www.thetyee.ca/Analysis/2025/01/...

Left Wing Hack

by fakekidpoker k

Polls showing the Liberals are recovering, Carney might not have enough time to win this election but if he holds the Conservatives to a minority I think Poilievre will be gone in a year or two

Well when you dump the most disliked leader ever your going to get a spike . I look at this like the USA election were immigration was a big issue. for 3 years the democrats said no border crisis than when its killing them in the polls they are concerned about the border. Here in Canada the carbon tax is a driving issue. Though there you had the candidates tell us its the greatest thing 80% get more back than they pay and now they flipped as its killing them in the polls. Whoever is the leader will have to answer that question if 80% get more back are you not taking money away from those 80% ?
CDN's are not dumb they will not believe anything Carney or Freeland say nor should they. Carney actually is on the record wanting to screw CDN's over more

What does "Affordability" mean? Like your other two items are deficit neutral, cutting rebates and cutting housing accelerator fund. So what specific policy item - give the details - has he proposed OTHER than the first two items that will help "affordability".

Is he going to:
1) Lower dental costs?
2) Lower child care costs?
3) Lower prescription drug costs?
4) Lower GST?
etc

Or this one of those things where your guy is so berefit of actual detailed policy that you just make up a random "affordability" into a....checks notes.....4 item list to make the 4 item list look longer?

I have no clue on those 4 and I will wait till an election is called and both parties announce more of their platforms . Imagine if only Justin after losing byelections and ultra safe seats had stepped down and by now we would have a government in place either Liberal or Conservative with a mandate for the next 4 years and able to deal with Trump. Or even nominate a intern leader while the race goes on .

Lowering the GST is out of the question and you mean subsidize dental costs, child care and prescription medications.

See? Utter BS.

How sad is it that poilievre bots on the internet have to make up "Affordability" imaginary policies because their 3 item lists don't seem long enough but with the tiniest pushback immediately fold and say "i have no clue".

Well I do have a clue. Poilievre isn't going to do ****ing anything on "affordability". He might slash taxes that primarily benefit richer people and you can hang on to your conservative trickle down economist orthodoxy that this will lead to "affordability" and when it doesn't, don't come crying to me.

It's just not a helpful identifier. In 99% of cases, sure. But how someone appears just isn't a useful measurement in the 1% of cases where someone DOESN"T look remotely like their genitals (which nobody actually physically checks) or is ambiguous. That's why we have passport number, address, full name, photo, other physical descriptors etc. We don't NEED a fix gender identifier when you have all that other information.

The simple reality is there is no significant loss and so the ONLY negative consequence is not allowing trans or non-binary people to identify with their genders.

You say utter BS but the only thing I can think that will help affordability is more housing which the housing accelerator fund will not deliver for at least 2-3 years. There is an abundance of housing in the greater Toronto area but its all condos bought by speculators that now need twice the rent to break even.

Sadly our colossal debt needs servicing which cost $$$ .Removing the carbon tax should lower costs but sadly I see corporations keeping those margins

I have no magic answer to what Pierre will do that will save us cash other than cut the carbon tax which will add $$ to my wallet I guess will wait and see

I am like Montreal why would you change your Passport to X . You do realize its still illegal to be LGQBT2+ in 64-71 countries. I use my passport 2-3 times a year and that is more than most

Fwiw I’m not too worried for now about trump tariffs.
Our currency already pretty low now and usually tariffs are made to stop « illegal » trade by a country cheating with a much lower currency .
I’m not so sure at 69 USD, Canada goods won’t be bought by Americans with such a low currency despite 20-25% tariffs.
Canadians will have to shy away from American products for a while .
Dropping those inter provincial immediately momentarily would be a good avenue to help increase our domestic consumption to counter U.S. higher prices .

I never understand these provincial barriers as well . Even here hits me in the home building industry BC blocks me from bringing in my Electrical’s and plumbers from Alberta while their tickets are recognized in other provinces no problem . Add in trade barriers between provinces is just dumb

LMAO. Buddy, you were the one who listed "affordability" as one of the great Poilievre policies we'd all get. The reason you "have no clue" and the "only thing [you] can think of" is...the previous item on the list is because your Dear Leader doesn't have policies planned to significantly reduce affordability. Which is approximately deficit neutral move cutting of one housing program and adding a different housing program. Your life isn't getting more "affordable". It was just a BS nonsense word you through in the list because it otherwise seemed to short.

Sadly our colossal debt needs servicing which cost $$$ .Removing the carbon tax should lower costs but sadly I see corporations keeping those margins

The carbon tax is deficit neutral. Removing it won't help debt servicing.

lol. Maybe one day you will do some deep reflection on whey you listed affordability on the exciting things we get to look forward to when you don't have any answers.

Looks like Trump is bitching out about the tariffs now... A good break for Canada

It can be hard to imagine someone else's personal experience, but try for a moment. Imagine you are a trans person and believe as a core aspect of your identity that you are a gender different from your sex, and are organizing your life and looks and behaviors around that identity. It seems completely benign and reasonable that such a person would prefer their passport to reflect their gender.

I'd imagine most trans people are acutely aware that they are hated in countries around the world and would be at risk of traveling to a bunch of countries regardless of what their passport says. They don't need you to lecture them about it.

It doesn’t matter !
When you arrive at things like security , law implication , arrest warrant , crossing border , etc .
They need to know who you actually are physically .
Not just us , all countries around the world .

You keep inferring it’s about hate or w.e but it really isn’t .
If a Chinese guy think is white I’m sorry to say but to clarify who he actually is they will need to know is Chinese, not white crossing the border …then he can think is a dog for all I care in his personal life …

The problem is someone not accepting who he is physically , not the others that actually need some way to identify people and physical attribute is one of the most reliable you can find .
It’s the same reason we dont accept Muslim woman wear a mask for passport picture going against their religion ….
U have to ID them period .
Regardless how they “feel” .

Now someday we all have a computer chip in our arms for those purpose , I guess you will be very happy at that time we won’t destroy anymore trans “feeling” for it ….
How great a day it will be ain’t it ?

Of course it’s deficit neutral as we pay it . Cutting the carbon tax will make my life and many others more affordable .

No one’s going to believe a word Freeland or Carnage Carney says about a carbon tax . They are tied to all of Justin’s policies

Myself I’ll never vote for a liberal at a federal level again . Pierre can have no policies and he’s got my vote

How you know carney suggested or approve Justin vision on carbon tax ?
Maybe Justin did what he thought was right despite some of his “collaborators” ?

Freeland or Carnage Carney or Pierre

Really just an X is not inclusive enough. What about furries? If someone doesn't identify as male, female or non-binary I don't see there being any negative consequences. They really should also have a box on a passport, it's anti furry to not have one. Really to be nice and welcoming it could have an option for what animal they identify with to be ever more inclusive. There's lots of room on passports for this.

Carnage Carney is just like Freeland a hypocrite

Likes investing in foreign pipelines but not ours. Even countries with no LGQBT rights

It just isn't helpful. It makes no difference. Nobody is checking the genitals of people for identification, they will use the photo and the passport number and the name and all the other details to identify someone. Whether it says M or F or X is useless and unnecessary, particularly because people can look and present very much like the opposite gender. And since it makes no difference - there is no harm AT ALL in being kind and respectful to our transgender and non-binary fellow citizens and allow them to identify in this specific way the way they choose.

Note that a muslim woman who wears a nicab in Canada can request a) the photograph be taken in private by females and b) only reviewed at the border, in private, by females. This is a basic accomodation that allows muslim women to remain fully masked in all public areas and in front of all males, respecting their freedom of religion. A simple accomodation, and one that is great that we are able to do.

Ya I totally love slippery slopes too and back in the marriage equality wars I was totally the guy saying that if you let a man marry a man what's next, shouldn't a man be able to marry his horse or his bicycle? Ya slippery slopes are just great and if we ever do anything sensible reasonable accomodation to be respectful, I'm going to get up on my high horse and start screaching about the very bottom of that slippery slope.

Oh wait, I'm not a PPC supporter.

Really passports shouldn't have anything. Because what if a person doesn't identify male, female or non-binary. Also passports are not inclusive at all, we are all people of planet earth and should be able to travel anywhere. Birds don't need passports when they fly south, why should we. At the very least a furry that identifies as a bird should be able to be travel to Florida for the winters without a passport.

Totally great points, the kind of thing someone with a nootropic enhanced brain would come up. If your are ever respectful to anyone ever, then you will inevitably fall off a slippery slope - no more of a cliff!!! - and end up right at the bottom.

I just ate 2 cups of blueberries too, so watch out.

You could just respect people as an individual rather than what group they belong to. I don't feel respect because male is on my passport.

We went from gay marriage to your a Nazi if you don't think kids should be able to chop their privates off and men can dress as a women to use women's washrooms pretty quick.
