How did ZefaPoker play this hand?

Hand starts at 3:00.

Hero opens 8877ds from the LJ.

BU & SB call.

3 way to flop. Tc6c3d.

Checks around.

Big decision is on the turn.

SB leads $50 into $60 pot, with $225 behind.

Reasons to just call: When hero shoves, he gets snapped by straights.

Yes, hero blocks the nut straight... But is there any worse hand that calls him? Probably not.

Reason to shove: The only reason I can think of is to deny equity from flush draws.

---

tl;dr: In general, I struggle with playing strong, but vulnerable hands in position. My instinct is to just call, and allow OOP to continue bluffing. But people often advise "shove to make decisions easier on later streets when we lack playability."

People suck at poker. Call.

I'm OK with calling the turn here in part because I want to see what the button does. Button certainly does not have a set of any sort of big combo draw acting last after getting checked to on the flop but if he raises after a turn bet into two opponents and your call it's almost certainly a straight. Whether you call a button raise or not depends in part on what the SB does (besides having a straight SB could have checked top set on the flop). Otherwise it depends on whether or not you get the right price to fill up.

Also watched the first video by ZefaPoker and subscribed. Agree with YouTube comments that there aren't enough PLO vlogs.

Yes, I like his content. He battled Galfond heads up $50/$100 risking a substantial portion of his bankroll. 🤣

Blocking the nut straight and unblocking club draws and top pair I’m fine with this. The SPR is low enough and his hand is stacking enough properties to get it in here. Any pair with a FD can call off and naked 45 may fold thinking they might be drawing dead to 89.

Yeah he was a legend for that, unfortunately I think he said he was no longer going to post
