demko's played 3 straight good games without getting injured and boeser scored the winner ... trade them both asap

Since the sharks ****ing suck again is there anyone I should be hyped about with the #1 pick?

Hearing a lot about this Shaefer kid

yeah schaefer is supposed to be a franchise caliber defenseman, no clue on the rest of the draft

https://www.tankathon.com/nhl/mock_draft

porter martone seems to be bullying the ohl at 6'3"
would probably be partial to the 2007s like misa over hagens and frondell over eklund, for example. misa's nhle rating is sick too, so i guess you might be happy with any of him, schaefer or martone.

idk anything about these guys, but sometimes you don't need to. watch me be right too lol

A little Superbowl pregame hockey of 2 HS teams. I thought Drysdale had a good game. Michkov only had one good chance and I wasn't impressed with Kuzmenko.

There was a kid no older than 17 with a Nikolai Zherdev flyers jersey. I had so many questions.

And if anyone knows what Kris Letang is doing in warmups, please let me know.

i stg if quinn hughes plays in this stupid 4 nations thing instead of resting whatever this injury is... (same for crosby, and every other player with so much as a hangnail) does literally anyone care about this "tournament"? and it's so ****ing funny that they're running this during the season, after all the bitching they did about the olympics. for an even worse version of th

Had the same conversation with a buddy last night saying it’s only 4 countries and if you’re a bit injured it’s your duty to heal . I’d take two weeks in the Caribbean than 4 nations not sure I even watch

no

alex pietrangelo is sitting it out thankfully. he basically said he's too old for this s**t and needs the rest to finish the season

does literally anyone care about this "tournament"?

Finland and Sweden for sure.

Just wait if it's USA vs CAN in the final.

I'm not sure Sweden and Finland will care more than Canada and the US. I've got the sense that these NHL manufactured international competitions feel more pointless to people who grew up with real ones.

Finland and Sweden have a long and contentious rivalry and I can guarantee that people in those two countries will be hyped for that game. US v Canada should be good too. I'm not sure why people are down on this tournament.

They'll be up for any game between themselves sure, and the NHL to their credit had the good sense to put it on at a good hour for Europeans, but that's more down to their rivalry than dying to win the famous 4 nations faceoff. Not saying they'll be dogging it out there obviously.

Fwiw the Athletic had an article polling like 100 players involved in the tournament or of the general playing population. Only one guy on a roster said he'd rather be at the beach. Generally it's about what you'd expect, with 100/~90/~85/~80 percent of all finns/canadians/swedes/yanks polled saying they'll care, and the rest at about 30%. A bunch of guys saying they care because they want to audition for the Olympics though.

I'm down on the tournament because it's a two week break in the season for a meh competition and because any success for NHL run tournaments hurts the chance of legitimate, open international competition. I guess there's a chance that ship has sailed already and this is the best it's gonna get. Will still probably check out a couple of games though.

canada/sweden tonight
oh gods, guess i gotta watch us play petey

usa/finland tomorrow

In February 2024, the IIHF announced an agreement with the National Hockey League (NHL) to allow its players to participate in the Olympic men's hockey tournament for the first time since 2014.

olympic hockey in 2026, no?
thought i heard that somewhere, seems to be correct

binnington!? do we not have a better goalie? hilarious

petey hattrick incoming
he always lights him up

hmm yeah
sid, mcbust, nate, makar and reinhart is a decent powerplay unit

got petey most swedish goals +1600 one time

petey vs blues: 16gp, 6g, 16a, 22pts, +12

edit: not sure if that includes 6gp, 3g, 9pts in the playoffs or no
think not

oops, more of a playmaker

glgl tho

Lol at anyone who says they love hockey and aren’t gonna watch Crosby/McDavid/MacKinnon/Makar on the same PP when the games mean a lot to them

the word literally gets thrown around a lot, but jordan binnington is literally a pile of dogshit

no clue who a.hill is, but put him in already

Opening goal was fire

Logan Thompson and Blackwood should be the goalies, but dumb tourney made rosters due in early December.

100% this. Of course a short tourney like this isn't perfect, especially with no prep games, but man, so entertaining.

I wish the NHL would go to 10 minute ΓΈtimeovertimes in the regular season

With the same 3/2/1/0 point scoring

I would love to see a rule that you can't back out of the offensive zone voluntarily . If so delay of game. Wouldn't even need an extra 5 minutes of 3v3 then.

I think the proposed rule is like over and back in nba. Once you cross the blue line, you can leave the zone, but you can't cross back over centre ice.
