The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic fa
I've been part of a fair amount of courses that with candidates from fire stations. They tend to fall into the category of "fit", which seems to be plenty for their work. You see the odd fitness freak, but for the most part we're talking attainable for most if with some work (if you haven't let yourself go completely).
If they did wash out from the courses it was rarely for fitness reasons, but like Formula72 says, for psychological reasons. Failure to handle stress, failure to lead clearly / communicate clearly, lack of reflection / failure to learn from mistakes etc. A lot of tough and demanding jobs need you to be fit. When you add on having to make split-second decisions for your own safety and the safety others, then you still need that baseline level of fitness. But after that it becomes more about how prepared you are, your attitudes / conscientiousness and the head on your shoulders.
However, the fitness is what people see and the physical requirements are easier to identify with. So it is not really surprising that this is would often be the topic on social media, where the visual and immediate is often the focus.
Firefighters are awesome. I'm grateful for all the times they helped my parents and wife's parents and they were always super cool. I didn't know before that generation got old, but running around helping old people seems to be a big part of their job...I'm sure it's a lot more common than putting out fires.
The recent right wing obsession with this guy: was kind of cute tbh but I think underscores the deep fantastical nature of these peoples perception of reality. I assume most of the people who endlessly romanticize a specific brand of manliness have negative chin depth and live vicariously through the social media perception of what a man is. If you have negative aura then a
I don't agree with everything Andrew Tate say's but he is spot on quite often.
There's an expression to describe the conversational tactic of using very rare disastrous choices by someone to criticize an entire group behavior through time of which that someone was part of, but i don't remember it.
Like say criticizing all mexicans in the USA if one mexican in the USA rapes someone
This is exactly right!
They do the same thing when a cop shoots someone. They freak out and burn down cities. Unfortunately they ignore the million other times the cops handle the situation calmly and deescalate the situation.
Why stop there? Why not 1lb bundles? I have no idea what the optimum weight for a bundle of shingles is, but fewer shingles per trip means more trips means more time. Seams disingenuous to say just lower the weight like it wouldn't have knock-on effects.
If I called the cops, I'd almost always prefer women come. Sexist I know, but I think they might be slightly more likely to de-escalate whatever and slightly less likely to shoot my dog.
This may be true in minor situations like when giving speeding tickets but when it comes to physical altercations they probably make things worse.
First, things get escalated because the bad guy either doesn't listen or ignores the police orders. Second, the bad guy is gonna look at the more petite female officer and feel emboldened to either run away or fight. Third, nobody is shooting a dog. If somebody gets shot they probably deserved it. The vast majority of male police are incredibly patient. They put up with horrific behavior and bad mouthing from the suspect. The last thing any officer wants to do is shoot somebody.
If anybody wants to know when America was great it was back when people had respect for the police. It's when kids had respect for authority. Most importantly everybody knew their role.

I mean I said in the post that they put it at a weight where they can still find enough people to do it. And made no claim about what is optimum. It seems disingenuous to suggest I did. I just made the point, which I think is correct, that construction does not inherently require a certain strength in and of itself, but in practice the tools and packaging are designed with certain a certain strength in mind.
I once met a female cop and her name was Candy. True story.
And she showed me videos of some college running back breaking his leg like I would be interested in watching something like that. Wrong name but right profession for her for sure.
this 100%
absolute cult we're dealing with here that like to deny reality in order to sound progressive and just
I don't know if they disconnect themselves from reality to be a part of the progressive club or if their natural disconnection from reality automatically makes them far left liberal progressives. Either way it's disturbing that some don't understand the physiological differences between men and women and how that effects how well they can perform their jobs. These are the same people who will happily go have lunch in the worst neighborhoods and put their lives in danger just to be part of the club/cult. I've said it before and I'll say it again: It just takes one time.
Yeah, but you still think I'm in a cult because I said I generally prefer female cops, which I do.
you're going to have to show your work on this one because i said no such thing
again, your seething rage got the best of you
this is like the 4th time you've falsely attributed things i've never even contemplated as not only my position but things i've said (which i never indeed said)
calm tf down and be like santa checking your list twice before you decide who's been naughty or not
this is also more key evidence as to why i do not believe any of your "i believe in freedom" nonsense, you're already a proven serial liar and it's just a convenient rhetorical tool you use
You signed up to 2+2 in 2004, which means in all likelihood that you at at least 40 years old and probably older.
Being an Andrew Tate fanboy at age 14 isn't great. Being an Andrew Tate fanboy at your age is pathetic.

When baby Xnerd choked once the firefighters got there first, before EMS, and they were amazing. Bless up for firefighters
