Whether you are a man or a woman if you need the police or there's a fire most are hoping it is men who show up when called.
To microbet's point, I don't know what this comment has to do with what we are discussing.
In any case, sure, we can all come up with firefighting scenarios in which a 210 lb man would be more effective than a 130 lb woman. If I need to be carried rapidly down 8 flights of stairs, that's going to be easier for a strong man than it would be for most women.
That said, I suspect that firefighting scenarios where a deployment of all-male firefighters would be able to save lives that a male/female deployment would not be able to save are exceedingly rare, especially when you consider that large city fire departments have fitness requirements for all firefighters.
Is there any actual evidence that allowing women to serve as firefighters has resulted in a meaningful increase in fire casualties?
It's also worth remembering that volunteer firefighters comprise a large percentage of the nation's total firefighters, and there is widespread concern about the decline in volunteer firefighters. Excluding women from an area where there is already a shortage seems obviously stupid.
If I called the cops, I'd almost always prefer women come. Sexist I know, but I think they might be slightly more likely to de-escalate whatever and slightly less likely to shoot my dog.
weird fetish
Statistically speaking you are 3x more likely to be shot to death by a male officer than a female officer, so the point is spot on
It's hard to evaluate this sort of statistic without knowing the overall proportion of male/female officers and the distribution of men and within within the various jobs in police departments.
P.S. -- I just looked it up. According to various sources, approximately 12-14% of full time law enforcement officers nationwide are female.

Yeah I did the research. On absolute levels its about 1000/50 per year, which normalized to ~14% is 3x instead of 20x
The cops getting called and getting to your house to stop the home invaders is a complete fantasy. Mongidig calls the cops because he gets off on the wrong freeway exit and I guess he doesn't want a woman to see him acting like such a coward? If there are two drunk guys yelling at each other, the cops can get there on time and I want that de-escalated, not some roided up cop pretending he's an MMA fighter. Also, if a cop comes to do a report because someone stole your car and you need the report for you insurance, it's better if they don't shoot your dog.
I'm sorry I'm not accepting answers in video format.
Why does it matter if males are stronger on average than females?
Many reasons. Youβre an intelligent person. Iβm sure you can think of a few.
Physical strength may not be required, but just like a life-jacket itβs better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
No I cannot. I do not believe that the average male or female shows up when a police officer is called, so explain to me why I should care whether the average male or female is stronger.
It's very funny that no one seems to want to actually answer what you profess to be a simple question. Let me ask you this. Do you believe the average male or female shows up when you call a police officer?
If not, why do you think it matters if the average male or female is stronger?
Even if it did, are you just needing help opening a pickle jar?
There is a lot of literature which finds different things, meta researches usually find a small but significant reduction in use of violence by female officers, but afaik almost no one controls for the fact that men are sent more often in the most heinous situations
Look I don't want some scrawny little dude showing up when I call the fire department, I want burly shirtless himbos to wrap their meaty arms around me and carry me off to safety.

because strength unlike other traits (where differences often exist but very nuanced between sexes) is MASSIVELY different men vs women. In some measure of strength the median man is stronger than 95%+ of women.
Basically if you want people pooled by the top 10% of strenght in society for some job, there aren't any women among that portion of society (or like less than 1 in 100k of them is a woman).
