CHEAP TRICK - Don't Be Cruel

Written by the great Wayne Carson, who lived next door to my best friend here in Springfield, MO for many years. I prefer Gary Stewart's original version but this was a much bigger hit. Wikipedia tells me this was used in a Family Guy ep.
Other classics written by Wayne Carson: Always on My Mind, The Letter, Drinking Thing, "She's Actin' Single (I'm Drinkin' Doubles), etc. Yes, Wayne Carson was also a drunk irl.
Where did he live in Springfield?
south, roughly Fremont and Republic Rd intersection. Middle class neighborhood, nothing special. 3-4 bedroom houses.
Btw, in an odd coincedence Conway Twitty actually died in Springfield. Had been playing Branson, which is about an hour away. I think that's right.
Damn, misspelled coincidence!
Speaking of coincidence "You were always on my mind" was co-written by Johnny Christopher, who I went to college with for one year in GA.
Might sound like crap to some listeners, but this is a great cover.
I was kinda expecting a cover of the bluegrass 'LIKE A FOX ON THE RUN".

a classic Conway display in full hee-haw what the helmet mode
coming from a son of a drunk more than familiar with those old Carson songs
this is venturing into misheard lyrics territory
