Known cheater playing Triton - Jinlong Hu

He and his CN friends were cheating in a Vietnamese poker series. The money was still awarded however stripped from the actual event/listing. If you're a reg in these events then you'll have more info about it.

Kind of a shame Triton allows this player still. Alongside Valeriy Pak

I would like to draw the attention of the international poker community to this discussion: when can you consider a hand soft play/collusion? It's 5-handed at the final table of the $10k tournament at U Series of Poker - the biggest buy-in event in the country, supposedly 1 of the most prestigious as well. Two Chinese professionals (both are bracelet winners I think) play hands like these, and the chip leader folded in both cases. In the end, the short stack survived and laddered up, finally reaching HU with his fellow countryman, with a ton of money up top.

Of course we can always come up with excuses "it's their right to play however they want", "they may be on a downswing and played scared money" (Hu Jinlong just won the APT Main Event last month iirc), "it's their strategy to keep the short stack around" blah blah. But where should we draw the line? How do the experienced TD/organizers handle this?

Personally, I think this is obviously soft play, and pretty sure most experienced players would agree with me. If they are blatantly doing it like this on live stream, who know how many worse instances have happened off cam. I urge USOP to handle this situation in a fair way publicly to uphold the integrity of the tournament, so that situations like this will NEVER arise again.

He does look evil.

I didn't read any of your post or look at the evidence. But I'll buy it just based on the photo.

First time hearing about this. I'm pretty sure that's the case for many ppl, he will likely get banned all over after people see this.

KJo folds vs 7bb BvB looks sus

Hilarious! Going by looks alone that dude a villain for sure.

I'm not tournament expert and never heard of this guy before. But there definitely can be merit to keeping a short stack alive on the bubble. It also depends how tight everyone else is playing. If they're just going to keep folding and you can accumulate a ton of chips until the bubble bursts then you do want to keep the shorty alive.

The OP says it's the final table.

could still make sense strategically depending on how much people are folding.

100% bad guy based on photo yep. Case closed

This does look a little bit extreme

It is true what you are saying but not with these hands in these spots. They are winning too much

The KJ fold vs 7bb SB jam is clear proof of collusion from a reg. No way he does that unless he has a specific interest in that specific player (not just because he happens to be short stack) laddering.

interesting stuff

His crew right now at Triton. It'll happen again and again.

nah, he’s right, sometimes when you have huge chip lead and mega short stack at the table, the middle stack guys are handcuffed and you can slowly bleed them out while keeping the shortstack around

I’m not sure if there are GTO models that takes into account future game like that but pretty sure if it did, it would keep the shortstack alive as well to then extract more chips from middling stacks

Agree, have done it myself. Need more evidence to prove that they are guilty, like they are doing some signs or smth.

Innocent until proven guilty.

Innocent until proven guilty.

It worked for O.J.

Did the player in question (the one who folded) made any open fold that could be considered tight? Cause if he did then we can rule out the idea that he was keeping the short stack alive to steal from the others.

Anyway taking any action against him (or them) would be a very slippery slope. If you do, you'd have to do the same with every person that make a play that deviate from the play that "some random person" has decided is the right play whenever it's against: a friend, a guy from the same country, a guy he might have swapped with, etc.

I'm not defending him and I think it's very likely he softplayed his friend (assuming he is a decent player). Just not sure that a ban is the best way to deal with this situation

How can you know for sure without being able to solve those spots? (afaik)

That's the look of a fierce competitor.

Exactly. If i had a huge chip lead in the main event and 4-5 players all had similar stacks and were just letting me rob them, with one short stack in the SB I'd fold my BB to the Sb's all in for 2 blinds if I could keep it up.

Throughout the event they'd be communicating in Mandarin telling eachothers hands. Several times they were warned. The series was very laxxed about this rule. 10k buy in or not.
