Where exactly did I underbid my hand hugely given half the people playing got to a relatively simple 6NT making?

With that good spade suit I would treat the hand as a 19 HCP hand. Thus I think it is worth a 4NT bid over 2NT which would invite 6NT.

But then again IMPs daylong tournament...

If you want to score well on an 8 board IMPs tournament you can't afford to miss any slam. I might just bid 6NT over 2NT given format.

Qxx of clubs is pretty huge here -- doesn't opener basically have to be 2335?

That is a good point. I’d also note that the ten of spades is huge as well, opposite partners doubleton.

So I was also playing in the mentor/mentee game in the other room so I without looking at the hand said, "West pretend you didn't hear anything, and continue the auction like you didn't hear anything, N/S if you feel you were damaged call me back." But naturally west passes.

North/South doesn't call me back after the hand.

N/S and E/W were bottom two of the event so it didn't really matter...

So I look more closely at the hand after the game.

Man. If I had been called back...I think I give EW 5DX-3 and a procedural penalty. I almost wanted to give them one just for show.

Not every day you get above average because the opponents bid 7S instead of 7NT. Opponents had some meaningless 2C auction instead of just opening 7NT which I saw at a lot of tables.

as an aside i have been casting the bbo weekly free to twitch for a few months now, usually do it around 1pm est on a friday, but all the vods are on my channel (sixfour64), but i'll likely be moving them to rumble soon on account of changes to twitch's highlights retention policies

You could try the ruse of opening 2c, showing a suit other than spades…hope to get raised, bid Blackwood or cue bid or whatever on your way to 7NT. As long as you have a trustworthy partner who won’t pass a forcing bid, you might catch a naive opponent who thinks than JT9x of a suit is worth doubling. Here, the best suit is hearts, since we have the AKQ…

What's the percentage play to draw trumps with AKJTxx opposite xx for no losers, when we know we must ruff one loser in the short hand so, if wanting to take the finesse, we must do it immediately and can only do it once? Playing the weekly free earlier, sort of thing I should know but don't

Actually probably pertinent to give more details as it might be useful given the auction, partner deals and opens 3C - 3H forcing, 4H, 4N keycard, 6H (one keycard and spade void), 7H
