View: It is the time to switch to 4 Color Deck for Live Poker

In my humble opinion it is a bit archaic to continue with:

Red for both hearts and diamonds
Black for both spades and clubs

I advocate that we should make diamonds Blue and clubs Green.

1. It will make seeing the cards easier and surely speed up action.
2. New players who have cut their poker teeth online, while using 4 color decks, will have a more easier transition to live.
3. It will help minimize dealer errors (like the very costly one that recently happened at a WSOP event).

I know this breaks with "tradition" but poker has evolved over the years with different games, formats, and even some rules. Heck, check-raising used to be not allowed!

Let's make live poker great again with a 4 color deck!

Not for community card games, I actually prefer playing with just red/black when playing live and will sometimes use/switch to it online when playing only a few tables. Winamax's pseudo 4 color deck where clubs are dark grey and diamonds a lighter shade of red is imo the most aesthetically pleasing to play with and would reduce card reading errors as well.

For live stud games decks like:

make the most sense to use.

Maybe the greatest obstacle is possible flashing. Now if something red/black flashes it's not filled with so much information.

Jumbo index cards are in use at my casino, that's good progress. Standard red-black color though.

Everyone will hate it for like one week but then they'll never go back.

I would be a massive improvement. I think having a block colour design with the face value would be too far (even though I think it is better for online):

but keeping the current design and replacing the existing black or red wouldn't fundamentally change the look and would improve user experience:

I like it for online, but the dealer can just take a few seconds to read the board/cards before mucking same.

Too easy to see flashed cards and it won't "surely speed up action".

In order to minimize the effect of card flashing and exposing a particular suit, we should have just two colors per deck. Much harder to distinguish between suits this way.

To be earnest I haven't seen any flashed cards (except the ones accidently turning) the maybe twenty times I have played at the casino. But maybe some have? Wonder how big a problem it would be with the four colors. Would invite some anglers, but how much?

I vote that all in Mclovin be demoted and his name officially changed to all in Mcsuckin due to bad idea.

No offense mcsuckin.

I see flashed cards almost every time I play, sometimes from other players, sometimes from the dealer, sometimes both.
I've even seen burn cards from sloppy dealers or the back card of the deck when they don't hold the deck level. I say something when I see a card (and usually it's something like "red face card" nor the exact card) but I don't trust a lot of people to do the same.

I probably misread my suits a couple of times a year, and that's playing plo. And of those times it might cost me money once. I'd rather that than making it a lot easier for shady people to know what specific suits have been exposed.

I always got eyestrain after awhile with them, especially live. I think a lifetime with the regular deck hardwired me. Just don’t look right.

But then again the OFCP & Mah Jong apps I play use them fine; the Gin Rummy/Hearts one does not. Shrugs.

Agreed keeping the traditional design is crucial and mandatory. The King & Queen do need to swap suits though.

You'd be surprised how many people are colorblind. It would be difficult for many to distinguish blue from green, for example. For that reason and others, I prefer for live play the current convention in which easily distinctive colors and shapes make detection relatively easy.

People who have vision problems from some seats (even half the table possibly) have a very tough time distinguishing clubs from spades.

I have always liked the look of the four colour deck.

Can someone explain to me why the blue and green seem faded on most sites? I've always hated this. Can they not find a better blue and green??? lol

I'm talking about the deck on the bottom pic

I now want to buy a deck of those cards so whoever posted the pic first make sure you get your kickass commission.

most of the table would be slouching in there seats to see when dealer helocopters out the hole cards. Would definitely make me much more seat selective into the seats the dealer really can't helo the cards (1, 2, 9 I would think are best both to see to not get helo'd)

Red/Green would be the most difficult as R/G is be far the most common type of color blindness.

What is interesting is that one symptom of R/G CB is mistaking red for black. So those folks are going to have a hard time regardless. But a little less of a hard time with 4 colors.

My upper body is a bit tall, and what's more, I sit up in the chair (usually). Have seen some helicopters almost from the side, so guess you have a point.
