I know he's said some things along those lines, I just don't believe him. I know he's not praying to jeebus every night, but among his many horrible attitudes is some sort of Western Chauvanism that has some kind of Christian Values thing. Which is why he always defends Christianity and then does that idiotic thing where he rails about the religion of leftism.

it wasn't a defense of religion, it was disagreeing with someone's statement about religion

It's like how you pretend to be a liberal or something, but can't help defending the biggest authoritarian who has ever appeared on this site.

I wonder what Luciom think the left did so bad ?
- Universal healthcare should be a clear yes under Christianity but it isn’t in red state .
- Treating everyone like brothers ( immigration) but not in red states ( don’t get me start on how long it took to end segregation in red state) .
- trying to abolish poverty or helping them yet they are against unions , public program that could help the most needy .

I mean the list is long how the christian value on the right is bs , or I rather say , is only for those that are white Republican .
I guess we are about to hear Jesus was a Republican soon enough ….

Ps: Jesus wasn’t freakn white ffs …

Absolutely wrong.

You know, all those women priests, bishops, cardinals and popes we have had in the last fifty years, equality!

I actually find it stunning that he's claiming it. You have to have zero experience with actual practicing Christianity to think that. I have quite a lot of experience with it, as I'm sure others here do.

by Luciom

Christianity doesn't anymore since at least 50+ years ago .the bad part of Christianity became the left with it's dogmatism and extreme attitude toward being willing to use state violence to enforce morality.the left is doing to society what religious right-wing people tried to do to it 100-150 years ago, except they can dodge the church-state division while doing that whixh ma

Stop moving the goalposts. You stated Christianity hadn't done anything dodgy in 50+ years. This is simply untrue.

I certainly have a sort of Western Chauvinism, but it's built on the ethos of the Baccanali, Aedonism, the Carmina Burana, Free Masonry, the Renaissance orgies, and the centuries-long battle to defy the church.

Our best successes predated the church imposing it's power in europe (The greeks, the romans)

We emerged as the superior culture by winning that battle only to have leftists substitute the church and force us to play the game again, and i am very pissed off at that.

Read again, i stated it doesn't treat women worse since 50+ years ago, the statement was about inequality of treatment men v women.

Except they did treat women worse via the laundries and point being, they treated people badly essentially on theocratic grounds and it was more recent than 50 years ago and you're splitting hairs.

And anyway yes, it probably was worse than anything perpetrated by the church against men in Ireland in the 1990s.

And that was my question: are you sure more women were put in those laundries and treated horribly, than poor uneducated men were put in jail, in that timeframe?

As always you've done no reading. 150 posts/day of uninformed nonsense and fascism.

Some of the "fallen women" had not willingly participated in sex (i.e., those who were victims of rape and/or incest), and some women and girls in the laundries were there not due to intercourse but rather because they were orphans, abused, deserted by their families, or did not conform to social norms of the time.

Try to read what i write again, you dumb commie.

Yes irish society treated low class women very badly. How did it treat low class men? worse, better, or similarly badly? it's only unequal if low class, not-social-conformin poor and uneducated men were treated better.

Which... they weren't.

You are mistaking a systemic mistreatment of the poor and wretched of both sexes, with a religious practice in discrimination

No idea what how Irish society treated people in the past has to do with Christianity promoting sexism right now. They literally do it in church services. This week. Ask me how I know.

Women are told their opinions don't matter and they should submit to their husbands.

That is blatant, obvious, in your face sexism and nobody whose been in a southern Baptist church recently would disagree. Far from the only denomination doing it, too.

Colossally ignorant to not know this.

Oh crazy heretical sects can display all sort of insane behaviour sure, i was talking about actual christianity (catholicism)

So was I. You know, the one that preaches from the Bible. The Bible that word for word directs people to do that.

But lol at trying to bail out by pretending you meant Catholicism instead of Christianity. Which uses pretty much the same Bible, BTW.

Don't make me list all the examples of blatant horrific sexism in the Bible. I would enjoy that too much.

Better to just pull your standard disappearing act for a bit here.

My point is :
to make believe religion isn’t subject to what you enumerate is false .
Religions are full with discriminatory which are even worst , because those beliefs and choices by choice are mandatory and are imposed .
That goes even deeper being against individual freedom .

You are using religion - and specifically Christianity - as a catch-all for things you find unacceptable. It is no different than others that think "illegals" are the cause of all their problems. It is shallow and simplistic thinking. Of course there are some, even many, religious adherents that show the traits you are talking about. But it is by no means exclusive to them, nor is it universal among the religious.

I also find it very odd that you don't think peoples individual morals should factor into their decisions.

I live in a very conservative congressional district. My Rep. is Eli Crane. Before they redrew the lines it was Paul Gosar. And yet, I regularly drive by two churches that always have rainbow flags flying out front. Both of them have large signs saying "All Are Welcome". One has a woman lead pastor (I don't know about the other one). And they both are part of main-stream protestant denominations.

Like I said, your post was colossally dumb.

Oh all are welcome, but all will not be treated the same. They are specifically directed not to treat all people the same. That's the whole point.

There's more to how someone is treated than whether you let them in the door or not. We should definitely count how many female pastors there are, though. If you think there being > 0 means there's no discrimination there, I have a couple of math lessons to go over with you.

Were the poor uneducated men put in jail for committing crimes or given indefinite sentences in laundries for religious reasons, such as being "fallen women"? Spot. The. Diff??
