Again, all because a corporate figurehead was excitedly giving a speech and expressing gratitude toward the present crowd using a gesture that innumerable speakers have made when addressing a friendly audience.

Tesla was pricing some insane future profits coming from some very optimistic reading of nebolous projects unrelated to EVs, and the possibility Musk was able to monetize his relationship with Trump with Tesla.

Even after Tesla lost almost 50% from it's stockmarket peak right now, it still has a price/earning ratio of like 65.

Even in a scenario where Tesla didn't have to pay the reputational price of Musk mistakes, it would be grotesquely overpriced at the price it touched recently (PE over 130).

BYD, it's closest comparable competitor with incredible trends in market share around the world and much better pricing points and a brighter future as a maker and seller of EVs, has a PE of 54.

Anyway there was no damage for normal investors who don't trade often and just accumulate their savings in the sp500. Tesla stock price is just where it was 15 months ago.
