Sixes IP vs gambler

Sixes IP vs gambler

1/3 NLHE 9 handed

We're in for 1000 and were up 200 to 1200 total when we just got wrecked in a bomb pot where we flopped the mortal nut straight on one board J9o on Q-T-8r and the turn brought a K. Guy called with AJ high on both boards for my pot sized donk OTF and I couldn't get away from it. We now have 700 in MP/UTG+2.

V - Loose passive gambler. Can tilt and get wild. He's just sat down and has 470$ after winning and losing a few small pots. So he should not be tilted now. He limp/calls about 50% of hands. He loves to chase draws and plays somewhat trappy with premiums. He limp raised pre with AA from late position earlier MW when it could have easily checked through. BB. 470$.

---

H opens 6 6 in MP to 10, folds to V in BB who 3-bets to 35, I call. HU IP.

Flop 70 - 9 8 7

V c-bets 25, I raise to 125, V seems unhappy about it but eventually calls

Turn 320 (310 back) - K

V checks, Hero?

Just call flop and try to get there or hope he shuts down. Don't try to bluff weak players off strong ranges. Yes, this board is supposed to be bad for his 3bet range, but he still 3bet the BB when he could have just called, and cbet a board that AK totally whiffs on. That means he is strong. Trying to get this player type to fold an overpair is suicide.

I would xb turn as played but I guess you can probably get him to fold QQ now, so maybe it's a good spot to shove.

xb turn meaning check back or check-bet?

Against a different player type I would shove.

Against a loose, passive gambler I would check and give up on the turn.

xb turn meaning check back or check-bet?

Check back. Sorry, kind of an unnecessary abbreviation from me.

PRE - stop opening to $10. Make it $15. Your small open sizing is likely to induce some light 3B's, and most of our opening range doesn't want to 4B or call a 3B.

FLOP - If we're trying to rep a big hand on the flop, I'd think a more credible line would be just flat calling, or just min-clicking.

TURN - just check back and pray to spike a 5 on the river.

I shove and he looks like he hates it but calls with J9o, river is a J.

If flop raise was to fold out unpaired hands, think a smaller raise would accomplish that eg 90.

Since a large raise size was used I guess it was to fold over pairs that do not have straight draw equity? Going to jam to keep the story consistent. Although not a huge fan given read of V and whether if V thinks H is on tilt after the bomb pot loss.
