Do You Call with the Second Nuts?

1/2. Rake is 6+3+1.

V1 (240) didn’t know what the high hand was in casino poker. I guess he plays mostly home games and tournaments. He’s playing about 40 percent of his cards, mostly limping most of his range, raising around 15 percent of them, limp-calling too. He once raised preflop and showed down JJ. He also won a pot with JTo. He’s folding a lot of hands on the flop.

V2 (230) is a loose-passive calling station.

Hero (covers) is TAG, if V pays attention.

OTTH

V limps UTG. UTG+1 raises to 10. LJ and BTN call. SB folds. Hero in the BB with AcJd? Hero calls. UTG calls. Five-way

Flop (43 after rake): KdQd9c

Checks through.

Turn: 2d

Hero checks. UTG bets 15. BTN calls. Hero calls.

River (84 after rake): 7d

Hero?

3! pf, for value. Not thrilled with a call, OOP.

AP, 60/f. I don't expect either V to bluff raise river. I also don't expect them to raise a T or 9d. So we're beat if they do.

b/f the river.

pre is bad, should 3b. think of much you hate life if you just call pre and flop TPTK or a pair of aces OOP vs this field. youd almost rather miss the flop.

I guess I'm a nit! I fold preflop 100%. Calling offsuit broadways is normally a mistake and 3-betting that light when you're almost certainly called multiway OOP is torching. Offsuit broadways are very weak hands and potential disasters OOP. If you study preflop charts, AJo is going to be a borderline call against one V from EP. It is a fold from UTG+1 raises against one more V calling. Solvers will go down the sc line and Kxs line first, so hands like 56s or K9s are preferred over AJo. I'm all for widening ranges, but you don't want offsuit trash going 5 ways to a flop, or OOP in a 3-bet pot. So fold.

AP, flop & turn are straightforward. River I lead for $40 hoping to get called by a weaker flush that can't get away. Probably b/f.

Solvers are assuming strong ranges so AJo is dominated. Loose low stakes players have weaker aces and jacks. I would call preflop. If you 3!, you may isolate against one or two hands that dominate yours.

you hate life if you just call pre.

I'll keep that in mind.

H saves 70 bucks and folds. Yes, 3.5 to 1. But if they're never bluffing, we're never good here.

PRE - 3B or fold. I'd 3B, and take pretty large sizing from OOP with four opponents showing interest.

FLOP - obvious check.

TURN - obvious check call.

RIVER - hmmmm... I guess block bet for like $50-$60 and fold to a raise, but I could see checking if we think one of our opponents will stab with worse. It's a disaster if we bet / fold vs a worse flush. I know it sounds crazy, but it's low stakes, so it's entirely possible someone inadvertently finds an accidentally genius unintentional bluff with a made hand.

I also think we might just check-fold to a big bet. Low stakes recs are going to show up with every unsuited Ax combo under the sun, and take huge sizing with the nuts.

Hero tank calls. V shows Ad4d.

c/c or b/f river. you chose poorly with 3rd option.

would take more aggro option ott - either lead or xr

Fold pre. Against later positions you can 3b. I like a block bet on the river but check call is fine too. If you bet don’t call a raise.
