What strategy ERA are we in?
I am relatively unknowledgeable about poker history - so donβt shoot the newb.
But is this broadly correct? I would classify the poker eras so far as something like:
1. Feels (ye olden, pre net ways)
2. The first internet studied era (kerching!)
3. The solver era
4. The MDA era
<-> you are here <->
5. The AI era (next?)
Does that sound right? What era would you say we are in currently? Twilight MDA? All subsequent eras wipe the floor with what came before them. Difficult to imagine an AI + MDA + human psychology combo isn't going to smash us to absolute bits when functional.

I think we're living in the "poker profits aren't very impressive anymore era". This is due to the fact that a lot of people make big money now and it has become a normal thing to have a million on your bank account even among relatively young people.
And strategically, it's the "milking era" where top pros play their normal game, travel around the world, play high rollers accessible only to rich players and keep winning money that used to belong to the fish, a long time ago.

Right before the AI era. In the next 5 years the skill level will jump disproportionately again overall but not as much as the solver/non solver era.
AI will begin solving preflop based on postflop tendencies which will change the game in unforeseen ways.
We are starting to see huge preflop deviations based on just preflop population tendencies in AI already.

I am excited for the new AI meta.

"roughly 28% of Americans across all four..." (Forbes)
I think the 'milking era' is where we are at in poker. Berkey is playing in private games, GGpoker made invite only High Stakes pri..., etc etc.
As for the next era, I'm probably naive in my belief, but online poker will die - Live poker will be filled with ingenious cheats converting their cheating rings from online play, and the cheaters will be beat by highly intuitive types who can read souls, and everyone else will be crushed by GTO players who show no behavior while playing (countering the intuitive types). We could call it the 'live cheating era', because it will be tenfold what it has been in the past.
The worse players are still going to show up, still going to leak, still going to get drunk and make bad plays. People are human, and they make mistakes, especially when inebriated.
The gto anal bead era?

no, no images ffs
This is definitely going to favour skinnier, athletic types.
'Wait.. Jack - I forgot! Is it one pulse for fold and two pulses for call? Or.. the other way around?!!? brrrrhrhrrhrhhrr'
I have my limits.
The Outer Limits Era. 🐕
Very, very late stage poker strategy era (game: ~99.9% solved) whereby every single possible known exploit has been established and pored over for hundreds of years.
And yet, still, from this bleakness emerges hope. Out on the periphery of culture lie a few remaining nuggets of EV (hair colour, star sign etc) which are hunted down and fought over by wild dogs, living the poker dream, desperately trying to tip their 0.01bb/100 WR into 0.02bb/100 territory playing 4.5 trillion hands/day at 0.00000001 satoshi/0.00000002 satoshi NL.
wtf is the MDA era? My understanding is this -
1) Pre-boom Era (pre 2003)
2) Golden Era (2003 - 2007)
3) Primitive 2+2 Strat Era (2007 - 2011)
4) Post Black Friday Era (2011 - 2016)
5) Early Solver/Upswing Era (2016 - 2021)
6) GTO Wizard Era (2021 - Present)
EDIT: Ah nvm figured it out. I am fish takes me a while.
