My First Vegas Trip

I am envisioning this thread as a way for me to plan my trip with the help of locals, maybe meet a few of you when I am out there, and then post my exploits when I am there.

As of now, I just booked the airfare and lodging and feel I am already running good.

I was able to purchase two RT tickets from Philly on Frontier for only $220 - this entailed a trip to the airport to purchase the tickets without the Customer Interface Charge saving me $80. I have flown Frontier and Spirit before so I am fully prepared to get what I paid for, but I'll live. It's nice that it's a nonstop flight.

I didn't have any offers on my Total Rewards card but I called them up anyway to see if I could talk them into giving me comped rooms. I was able to secure three nights at the Flamingo for free, which is great! I know there's still the resort fee but it's still a great price per night to stay right in the middle of the strip (or so I am told).

The trip isn't until mid-January so the rest of my itinerary is fluid. We did buy a couple tickets to see Opium - I promised my wife we would make time for not sitting in casinos (she is not a poker player or gambler but she loves me and lets me have my fun).

I am not sure if I am renting a car/Turo or not. I am leaning against it now since my wife kiboshed a couple of non-poker ideas that would have made it useful (day trip to Grand Canyon, for example). With parking fees at the Flamingo and gas, as long as I don't spend $150 on Uber/Lyft/public transportation I'll be ahead of the game and not have to worry about having the car. I welcome input on this decision.

Does CET have a shuttle bus around their various properties? That would probably be helpful - or any free shuttles.

For non-poker activities we'll probably also hit up the Mob Museum (the speakeasy seems cool), the Neon Museum has a Tim Burton exhibit while we'll be there and we'll likely bum around Fremont Street and the strip in general, which will be good fun for us both.

As for the pokers, I figure that I owe The Flamingo some play for the comped rooms so I plan on playing a bunch of $1/2 there. I assume that $1/2 is pretty much the same everywhere.

Otherwise, you guys can help me:

I like daily tournaments. What places have the best structures and do any of them have midnight tournaments during the week? Back in the day there used to be midnight tourneys in AC that were fun (I am a bit of a night owl). Ideally the tourneys would have decent turnout for a weekday (we will be there on a Sunday AM and fly back Wednesday AM) and cost up to $200.

I also like low level mixed games. I have played in various casinos at various times $4/8 HORSE, $5/10 Stud, and a $6/12 OE split game so any room where I can play something along those lines would be fun.

Thanks for any help and I look forward to donating some money to the Vagas poker community!

REVIVE!

I booked a WSOP trip and I paid nearly nothing!

We're flying out Sunday, 5/25, arriving at 11 PM. I got one room at The Linq that evening.

The next day we check out and jump over to Paris where I will stay through Friday morning. I will play Event # 2 the Industry Employees event on Tuesday (and hopefully make it to day two on Wednesday) which is at Paris.

I have no set plans for Monday or Thursday and I don't fly out until midnight on Friday so I have time for other poker and non-poker related activities.

The best news is all of this is practically free! Caesar's comped me all five nights and I don't even have to pay resort fees (I have since become a Diamond member).

The flights on Frontier used 50,000 miles we get from using their MasterCard and we only paid an administrative fee of $22.40.

This is technically my third time in vegas - the first is in this thread and I pulled what was to me a baller move by getting a comped room when we had a 20+ hour layover in Vegas coming back from visiting the wife's sister and their family in El Paso. But it's my first time there around the WSOP.

I am looking forward to seeing a bunch of dealers and supervisors I work with at a stop at MGM National Harbor as well as other friends there.

I know the wife wants a spa visit and to see Absinthe but otherwise I have nothing planned other than the tournament and a bunch of cash games too.

How do you get such comps? Do you gamble a lot at CET casinos in other locations?

I think they're having multiplier days during your visit.

In. Have fun. Absinthe is awesome.

I play poker whenever I can in AC and a little in Baltimore.

I also use the Caesars Rewards Visa for my groceries. I pay it off every month and I easily hit the $5k annual to get 5,000 tier credits.

The rest is playing Top Dollar slots when I can, especially around tier multiplier days.

That's it, my secret to Diamond status.

Maybe I should get one of those. I have an MGM one hoping to get free parking. I tried to get a CET one years ago when I was poor, but they turned me down.
