Gross 4/8 hand felt like I played it wrong
V1 is MA Asian, decent player. V2 just got to the table, not drinking but seems like hes drunk or on Gummies, Older MA white guy.
V2 limps in EP, folds to me OTB with AA, I raise V1 calls from BB, V2 calls. 3BB
Flop is AK6 all diamonds.
V1 bets, V2 calls, I raise, V1 3!, V2 calls, I cap. All calls. 9 BB
Turn is 10 of spades. V1 bets, V2 now raises.
I call. V1 3!, V2 caps. I have to call. 21 BB
River is a 2. V1 now checks, V2 bets. I call. V1 now raises. V2 calls, save a bet here? I call.

Retrospectively someone most likely has a flush but in the heat of battle in a big pot calling can’t be too bad.
I will get pilloried for this, but you can fold the river.
Fine but fold river
flop raise is an error imo. if you had KK i could see it but when you block top pair youre likely already behind to the flop donk. the dude bet into the world on a scary board in a raised pot what else could he have but a flush.
as played fold river

I wondered about the flop raise and cap but hell I have top set and 1/3 chance of boating by the river if he's already there.
I agree we can fold river, unless villain is the type of fish who really does not have an understanding of relative hand strength and thinks that 66 is the nuts here. You describe him as a "decent player," from which I assume that he always has the nut flush here.
I see the merit to just calling the flop, but it seems a bit too mubsy to me. People will lead out here with hands other than flushes, like a set or pair plus (nut?) flush draw. I find that people's leading ranges are very unpredictable, so until I have a good grasp on how villain thinks about donk betting, I'm really not inclined to just put them on the nuts when they do it. And we certainly have the second most equity when we are behind, so the third player is subsidizing us a bit.
I think the closer decision is whether to cap the flop.
Spoiler
V1 had 2nd nuts J8d, V2 had 95 d
You were probably behind with the action on the flop, but raising and reraising isn't terrible with outs to close to the nuts.
Yeah on further reflection I think raise/call flop has to be right. A raise/call looks a lot like a strong Ax hand so you should have lots of opportunities to raise board pairing turns/rivers in position or just call down if you don’t improve.
I agree just calling after the 3bet seems correct. Raising the first time seems fine though because people rarely fastplay like this at this level.
River call the first time seems fine. River call the second time seems like a mistake but considering you are getting 26:1, calling canβt be the worst thing in the world.
I see the spoiler has been posted but I can disregard it.
I disagree on folding the last bet. If you are folding river, which I think is marginal as played prior, then fold the river. The last bet is a call after calling the river once imo.
