It's one of them paradoxes that only the enlightened .0000000001% can comprehend. And here's a news flash, pal: You ain't one of them .0000000001%

My dude, there are 8 billion people in the world, making your "enlightened" sample consist of 0.8% of one person.

Thank you for proving my point, sir!

So bro, when you're "dialoging with self" are you in fact talking to your "inner voice"?

It matters more what you believe. Ask yourself. Is your inner voice you?

by Crossnerd m

Might be a competition for my new favorite if so lmao

Oi, less of that, don't make me have to go to the Upper East Side with binoculars and a crossbow.

I can prove that craig1120 is the most profound thinker ever:

It was once said that only about a half-dozen people truly understood Einstein in his day.

But literally nobody understands craig1120!

are you you?

are you you?

but is your you really you?

is this a masturbation reference?

What is often crudely referred to as masturbatory, the transcendent understand appropriately as diuretic, but not in the traditional sense. The release is transitional and perpetual rather than episodic. As such, it is potentially transformational, at least for the observant.

What's most amazing about all these is not that nobody, including the author, understands them; it's that craig does.

but is your you really you?

that's easy: obviously no

How do these keep getting better omg

that selfishness with always be the paramount factor in all decision making is an expected feature of *all* systems, can't be too angry about that, that's how humans work

it's to the point that whether or not the schools will be tangibly improved or it's just someone said "hey we should update the physical classrooms"

i've been inside these schools, they have world class facilities, so even though this doesn't impact me as i'm not a homeowner here nor have kids that'll be in this school, i find it to be just a "hey why not" proposal rather than one based on merit

and the thing that really crushes me, is that even in the remote chance these improvements are needed, neither i nor anyone else who could vote on this issue would ever know because the entire argument is framed as "don't you want better schools vs don't you hate paying 40% more in property taxes?"

that is not a functioning society

if you look at the fall of detroit, something like half the schools they ended up perma closing all got millions of dollars in renovations in their last few years - because nothing is long term planning for the greater good - it's all selfish interests who don't know or even care about the bigger picture of "we know things are bad and will need to close a lot of these schools in the near future"

we don't even bother discussing the merit of the project it's just drawing a line in the sand between "do i benefit more than i pay in from this or not" and that decides the voting bloc

same reason why despite that this is one of the wealthiest residential towns in america that's also a 15-20 minute drive from the downtown of one of the wealthiest cities in the world it would take 2 hours to make that same journey via public transportation because nobody here will ever advocate for public transportation because people who live here drive to work and can afford to pay city parking or have a parking spot at work already paid for

they view public transport as unsafe, slow and dangerous because most passengers are on fentanyl because it's such a bad system that only the most downtrodden would ever ride the bus with it's lengthy wait times due to lack of busses and several transfers

so they don't want that, they don't want more busses coming making it easier for homeless and addicts to come to their town

they don't realize that it's a chicken vs the egg situation

that if it were like the rest of the world where public transport was about the same amount of time (or even less because it ignores traffic) and it was also productive time for them to rest or read etc instead of driving then the average bus or subway car wouldn't be homeless dudes on fentanyl you don't want to sit next to but rather normal upper middle class people of their community going to and from the city conveniently

reminds me of when i went to a fancy ues side wedding last year and i didn't want to drive in nyc and flights from small towns are annoying so i took the bus down to nyc and while in nyc people would ask if i drove or flew down and i'd say "i took a greyhound" and the response was usually "is everything ok? do you need help?"

To scorn the signs of the aftermath is to demolish its accomplishments. Is chafing not the mark of true dedication, the tender badge of one who has ventured beyond mere indulgence and into the realm of relentless pursuit? For where there is friction, there is effort, and a pathway further in. And where there is effort, there is the whisper of something greater, a commitment so unyielding that even the body protests, yet the spirit presses on

I have since moved to the suburbs where there is not public transportation to speak of (other than Uber), but when I was living in LA they put in a brand new metro that went right by my house. I took it a couple times, and it was filled with smelly drugged out homeless people. Most of them weren't even really going anywhere as far as I could tell. They just sat on the temperature controlled metro trains all day.

And it was probably statistically rare, but there were reports of homeless people attacking riders.

I decided I would rather just drive my own personal car and deal with cost/traffic/parking.

Some of you are so ****ing soft it’s ridiculous

you just have to accept that this is what peak alpha male looks like

There's a lot of male derangement syndrome in this thread.

If you want to take the metro filled with smelly homeless people to prove how hard you are, go ahead. I'll drive my private car and pay for gas/parking.

Dunyain, I volunteer with smelly homeless people. Some of us don’t need to be insulated to feel safe.

So pathetic and embarrassing. Men used to go to war. Now look at you.

She's right. You're just soft. It's not something to be proud of.

Are any of the homeless men who have given up on their life soft, or no?

I once had a smelly guy fall asleep on me on the NYC subway. I shoved him off me. He then slowly slide onto the floor.
