I have since moved to the suburbs where there is not public transportation to speak of (other than Uber), but when I was living in LA they put in a brand new metro that went right by my house. I took it a couple times, and it was filled with smelly drugged out homeless people. Most of them weren't even really going anywhere as far as I could tell. They just sat on the temper

Didn't the mayor famously state the trains were not safe at the time and recommended not to ride the train at one point not too long ago? I forget the color line but the one going through downtown.

Dunyain, I volunteer with smelly homeless people. Some of us don’t need to be insulated to feel safe.

What does not wanting to be around smelly homeless people necessarily have anything to do with feeling safe?

You might be lit on fire by an illegal migrant.

Some of you are so ****ing soft it’s ridiculous

So much THIS! I've ridden buses for decades and have never had a major problem myself nor have I seen very many incidences.

Some folks just feel soiled being around poor folks I guess.

Most of us haven't had to take a vacation from the forum because it was having a negative effect on our life.

Maybe you were the guy people were avoiding.

If you want to take the metro filled with smelly homeless people to prove how hard you are, go ahead. I'll drive my private car and pay for gas/parking.

Great that you have that option.

Nothing horrible about riding the bus with homeless people unless you're a spoiled pampered pet.

Or you have better choices.

So pathetic and embarrassing. Men used to go to war. Now look at you.

"Oh no, a smelly homeless person...help me...help me....I'm melting..I'm melting!!

Blue Line I believe.

I missed it in realtime, but looks like she made a statement along those lines around a year ago. Seems most of the violence has actually been in the valley. You couldn't pay me to take public transportation to the valley, especially at night.

It’s probably super scary

Anyone who avoids public transportation because they might encounter a homeless person is a hopeless baby. Anyone who claims to be indifferent to whether a very bad smelling person is in their subway car either has never lived in a major city or is a liar.

I’ve lived in NYC, Chicago, and Baltimore (during the early aughts before they rehabbed the city), I took public transportation regularly. It’s not scary, it’s not that horrible. Maybe there is a smelly piss person. You’re there for 10 minutes, ****ing relax. Maybe there is a crazy ranting person, ignore them and they will ignore you. How are you all this new?

Like are you actually scared? Men long for the mines. You can’t convince me otherwise.

I'll be taking the metro to the Bernie rally tomorrow. If you never hear from me again, maybe the cowards were right about the LA metro system.

Wow a weird overlap in the "don't call men trash" and "ew gross, people are trash" crowd

I'm sure the brits here will remember this masterpiece.

[Audio not particularly safe for work or with small kids around]

I assume this question isn't directed at me. Scared? Of course not. That would be ridiculous.

I (or other members of my immediate family) have seen some weird **** on NYC public transportation, but that's over many thousands of hours. It isn't a common thing.

This advice is very, very correct.

You are becoming a caricature of yourself, Cross. :p

You said elsewhere that if someone is racist it’s ok and we should just suck it up and not try to change their mind.

So suck it up buttercup. Tired of the right trying to have it both ways. Either be a liberal or a reactionary but what you’re doing right now is dumb.

Trying to change a bigots mind is futile. Asking if it is a conflict of interest for a person openly bigoted towards men to be in position of power over a thread consisting of just men seems to be a reasonable question.

In my experience a girl who says she hates men is usually referring to white men. It's also not just white men, it's Conservative white men. You can see how this might be an issue for some folks in these highly emotional threads.

Thank you for not starting your post with "I mean". You do that often and it's pretty cringe.

I wonder if that lady who got lit on fire was ignoring the crazy person.

Actually, she's become less of a caricature over time.
