The Kilmar Garcia saga seems pretty transparent that the idea of checks and balances and general democracy is a thing of the past. We’re two months into this and it’s clear what the message is and that nobody that can stop it will stop it. Feels like a new thread is needed

I dunno, maybe he shouldnt like posts that say "Ceasefire now"

I don't think Donald is going to get bored and check out to golf a quarter of the way in again.

I'm not inclined to disagree with the loose consensus that when they start openly defying the courts that's when democracy has jumped the shark. The administration was ordered to bring back an innocent person who they dumped in the El Salvador prison to, I presume, be worked to death if he can survive the other inmates. While they appear to be humoring the court by showing up and making their dumb arguments, they are definitely probing for weakness and looking to establish a precedent of disobeying the courts.

Whether or not they are successful might ultimately depend on appeals and other judges they've installed who might rule, with some dumb trollish argument, that the president doesn't have to obey the courts. At that point they can do whatever they want as the checks on power are gone. It's more or less what happened in Nazi Germany. In fact these people who run this circus have to have studied exactly how the Nazis turned a Democracy into a fascist dictatorship.

It doesn't have to happen in one ruling. I don't think that's how a successful takeover works. But they are going to pulling at the threads, pulling and pulling, day after day and nobody seems to be stepping up to stop them. I mean, the people elected as opposition are beyond useless. They are just there to be actors in a show. They rip up some papers or hold a sign or something at the state of the union and then go vote for genocide. They, the opposition, are clearly compromised. I have no doubt their AIPAC handlers are telling them to keep their heads down.

I realized some time ago that no one is coming to save us. I think the sooner people realize that the better.

Great another poor loser thread.

Shouldn't this be in the conspiracy theory section?

A lot of misinformation regarding the Kilmar Garcia situation. He was not mistakenly deported to El Salvador. Stephen Miller clears it all up in this interview.

That's like answering someone charging Hitler with authoritarianism with "that's all BS check out my man here Goebbels he will set you straight.".

Do you have to work on being so stupid or does it come naturally?

It then goes into a list about 9 bullets long that is entirely too long to even think about posting here

In November 2019, the Southern Poverty Law Center acquired more than 900 emails Miller sent Breitbart News writer Katie McHugh between 2015 and 2016. The emails became the basis for an exposΓ© that showed that Miller had enthusiastically pushed the views of white nationalist publications such as American Renaissance and VDARE, as well as the far-right conspiracy website Infowars, and promoted The Camp of the Saints, a French novel circulating among neo-Nazis, shaping both White House policy and Breitbart's coverage of racial politics.[90][91][92][93

Miller was born on August 23, 1985, in Santa Monica, California, where he was raised, the second of three children in the Jewish family of Michael D. Miller, a real estate

A lot of people toy with the extreme right, thinking they can gain from doing so.

- Populists who use their messaging, and in return get amplified online.
- Conservatives who encourage nationalism, on the idea that their conservative parties will be the default choice for nationalist votes
- Certain socialists who think the extreme right's rise to power will cause societal breakdown and pave way for "the revolution"
- Political consultants who figure that by amplifying the extreme right, the public will be horrified and less inclined to vote for the parties that welcome them
- Fifth columns which exploit the extreme rights love for conspiracy theories and hot takes to sow discord, propaganda and chaos
- Pundits looking for an audience and market for their social media and traditional media

Of course, each and every one of these people are just actively supporting a movement which would, if it ever came to power, happily line them up against a wall and have them executed.

Which isn't very clever.

the fact is that this is nothing new.

There's nothing to fear, the legendary "checks and balances" will act as a back stop.

.

Distric court ordered that, SCOTUS corrected that to "facilitate the return" because the court can't necessarily order the return

The application is granted in part and denied in part,
subject to the direction of this order. Due to the administrative stay issued by THE CHIEF JUSTICE, the deadline imposed by the District Court has now passed. To that extent,
the Government’s emergency application is effectively
granted in part and the deadline in the challenged order is
no longer effective. The rest of the District Court’s order
remains in effect but requires clarification on remand
. The
order properly requires the Government to β€œfacilitate”
Abrego Garcia’s release from custody in El Salvador and to
ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had
he not been improperly sent to El Salvador. The intended
scope of the term β€œeffectuate” in the District Court’s order
is, however, unclear, and may exceed the District Court’s
authority
. The District Court should clarify its directive,
with due regard for the deference owed to the Executive
Branch in the conduct of foreign affairs. For its part, the
Government should be prepared to share what it can concerning the steps it has taken and the prospect of further
steps

This is funny because when I clicked the link and saw Miller's face the first thought that popped in my head was Goebbels. Didn't bother to watch the video.
